Dr. Hollis did my surgery back in March of 2008 and I've lost 108 lbs. went from 344 to 238 right now. I would have probably lost more but went on vacation and had unfill right around the hurricane and didn't get a fill for a few monthes. I just recently got back up to my 6cc's I was at before the Unfill. Its not hard to lose weight once you get it. your NRG level sky rockets and with ever pound lost you feel lighter. I started running/ walking etc... I was up to 14 miles a day. You'll see as time progresses. One recommendation I have is that don't just use any ole Protein mix. Go to the Vitamin shoppe or GNC or whatever place and get something called ISPOPURE. The best ISPOPURE mix is the fruit punch. Also if you want to avoid loose skin, some Amino acids (liquid) this helps with the elesticity of the skin and makes it look nicer.

i've never heard from anyone. If you know of one let me know
  11. I take Isopure ( you can get it from the Vitamin Shop). Get the fruit punch and mix well. 2 scoops = 50 grms protein. I also take some amino acids. which is added protein. More protein less loose skin.
  12. how are you doing since your surgery?

  13. sorry for the late response. yeah I graduated in 99 from NCHS so guess i don't know ya.

    Loose skin???!!?!?!?!

where at in the houston area are you? Might be able to help each other work out etc... and get rid of loose skin. I got my band let out about a week before the storm for vacation and havn't had time to get it filled back but i can't complain not really gaining or reallly losing either. I'll probably drink one more last beer and head up there and get my restriction orifice tightened up.

I would recommend taking ISOPURE. It gives you 50 gms of protein per serving and unlike some of the others has no carbs. Some of the other protein mixes have hidden sugars and can make you retian water thus not really showing weight loss. Also if you would like to keep from having loose skin I would recommend an Amino acid. I take 4 tbl spoons a day which gives me a nother 30 gms of protein and will help tighten and elasticize the skin. They have cherry flavored amino acids and you can mix with water so it doesn't taste as bad.
  19. I use to be, I graduated from North Charleston High school in 99, thought you looked familiar, is WAHS wando?

  20. Hello all, I was doing some searches on the internet and found this message board. Seems pretty cool so I figure I might join up. I guess I'll give yall a little bio on myself. My name is Andrew I currently live in League City Texas which is in between Galveston and Houston Texas. I started doing research on the banding procedure about a year and a half ago and finally decided to go to a meeting. I am a verrrrry skeptical person and worry alot. After looking over all the info and talking to a few members in my family about it whom are in the medical field, I was told that if you are going to have a procedure this is the one to get. I decided to start doing all my insurance info etc. . . which included but wasn't limited to : several doctors visits, physical, pysch evaluation. I honestly didn't think I'd be a good candidate. I was over weight but had no early signs of any issues. My blood pressure ran at 117 over 78, I had no issues with sleep apnea, no reflux, etc... They only hoped that with a weight problem I could be approved. They sent the paper work off to Aetna POS and I was approved with in a few hours. I was told that has never happened before. Not sure if thats good or bad but who cares. They scheduled me to come in for surgery with in the next 3 weeks and I started getting ready for surgery. My weight from last doctors visit was 344 and I weighed in at 319 on day of surgery which was March 26, 2008. I had surgery that afternoon and it took I suppose around 30 minutes. I was released to go home and I passed out on my couch for about 2 hours. I woke up and had some gassiness so I began walking around my neighborhood for about 2 hours. I decided then that I should start doing alot of walking and had gotten up to 11 miles (when I worked nights walking) Too damn hot here for day walking. I don't walk as much on either nights or days now, I have upgraded to some running. I can run 2 miles now with no issues. It is now August 31, 2008 and I went from 319 on day of surgery to 245 today. not bad for a few monthes. And a total of 99 lbs this year. Well anyways I tend to ramble so I'll leave it at that.

    New Guy from Houston

I never had a problem then again my wife and the nutrisionist are good friends too so they were always on me about follow up. I have a very tight busy schedule and they always found a way to get me in. The only problem I ever had was I kinda over did it on my wedding anniversary back in June and they just told me that i need to go on liquids for a couple days.

I used Dr. Hollis at True Results in Houston and he did really well. He kinda looks like Data from Star Trek but is knowledgable and does good work.
