Melody - - Hey I don't blame u at all!! I'm just on Day 6 from surgery and tried scrambled eggs on Day 4!! I was starving!! Major mistake!!! Major! Hurt soooo bad! Threw up!!! Scared the crap out of me!!! So I'm in the BIG chicken category now!!!! My Nexium still goes down fine, but I'm extra cautious about everthing now!!! Good luck to you on your weight loss journey!!!

Kim (gordonfamily3) - - Hi! Thanks for responding!! I was just curious because my doc didn't mention anything about having one & it seems logical to have one to make sure your stomach (little & big part) is doing what its supposed to. Didn't know if I needed to ask my doc? Cool u work for your doc now!! THX!!

Diva- - EXCUSE ME for asking an inappropriate question on your thread!!!! You mentioned it in your post, so it just came to mind and I asked!!! FORGIVE ME!!!!!!!!

Just Banded May 1st- Boston Area
tcd1101 replied to NikkiBlack's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was banded on Monday, 5-1-06. I'm doing fine with the fluids but am hungry. Well last night (4th day post-op) I tried scrambled eggs! I KNOW I KNOW STUIPID MOVE!!!! DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!! I hurt soooo bad after 3 bites, which I ate way toooooo fast!!!! I kept walking around the bedroom, hubby kept thinking I was gonna die (so did I) LOL!! I finally threw up....just once but it all came up even the hot tea I tried to drink with it to make it go down!! From my experience, please do as your doc tells you even if you think your starving!! It's not worth it and hurts like hell!!!! -
Kim2BeHealthy - - Isopure is wonderful!! I absolutely cannot stand the protein powder and this was my only other choice!! Grape Frost tastes just like grape koolaid and Icy Orange tastes like a cross between koolaid and Tang. Glacier Punch is ok...would be my third choice! JanetC (Janet Cunningham who is a member of this site) is a distributor of Isopure now! So I get it for $2.50 a bottle all the time!!!
-
Hey I have a question? Does everyone get a barium xray following lapband?
-
Welcome Cmstant!! I'm a newbie to this site too!!! I joined 3-4 weeks before surgery. My surgery was Monday, 5-1-06. I'm feeling great and soooo glad I made this decision! You're weight loss is amazing!! Keep up the good work!!! What an inspiration!!
-
Melody, Did your doc tell you not to swallow Nexium whole? I'm on Nexium too but was told I could swallow it whole. I'm on another med that is alot bigger capsule that I have to open and sprinkle on jello/pudding but Nexium does fine!

Wade, I keep trying to view your video & it keeps going to the screen asking me to download flash player which I did. It said successfully downloaded but then I still couldn't view? What do I do now?
-
Wade, I downloaded the flash player but I still couldn't view the video?? Any suggestions?
-
Kabeerah - Congrats on your weight loss!! :clap2: You're off to a great start!!! You should be very proud!!! :bananadoggywow:

Wade - - How do I view your video??

I'm still pre-op (until Monday - May 1st!!!!!) but I absolutely LUV the Isopure clear RTD!!! It is pricey ($3.50 for a 20 oz bottle at GNC) but it is sooooooo worth it. Like Janet I like the Icy Orange but I really like the Grape Frost! They don't really have an after taste to me, which is weird 'cause I absolutely gag on the regular powder stuff. Icy Orange tastes like Tang & Grape Frost tastes like koolaid!!! :Banane33: The Alpine Punch is ok too, but it does have a little after taste! I've tried the Mango-Peach but it was too sweet for me. They have several flavors & right now GNC has buy 5 get 1 free!!!! :clap2: Janet & Mikie - - Thanks to your good words about Dr. Sewell in Southlake, that is who I chose for my surgeon!!! I'll keep ya posted on my progress!!!! Think of me on Monday!!!
-
I'm wondering if I'm gonna be able to eat mexican food after my surgery. I love mexican food, especially chips and salsa!! If the answer is yes, then how do I do that without drinking anything? :Banane56: What about popcorn? Ok? What brand? How much? Tina
-
YEA! YEA! I'm sooooooo glad Mexican food will still be an option! The other night my hubby & I went to Anamia's (Southlake TX - for you guys in the DFW Area) & I only had 5 chips with a LOT of salsa and a crispy beef taco!! Pretty good huh, even for a pre-op gal!!! No Margarita (which I love), just had iced tea! It was a struggle but it was tolerable because I still got to eat mexican food, just maybe not what I wanted to eat!!! hehehe I'm not supposed to be eating beef on pre-op, but I thought once woldn't kill me, especially since Dr. Sewell's pre-op diet is 3 weeks vs most drs 2 weeks. Hows that for reasoning? Kim & Molly - "Cheers" to having a Margarita occasionally!!! BTW - - What about popcorn???? BTW again - How do I get the selection of "smiley" faces to come up when I'm doing a quick reply? I only know how to do the "regular" one using : ) keys. Dumb me I know!!
-
Will someone please more my thread to "food"? I don't know how to do that!:Banane56: THX!
-
Roberta - -I'm in the pre-op phase (scheduled for surgery on 5-1-06) & I couldn't stand the protein shakes. I went to GNC & got Isopure clear protein. 20 oz bottles, many flavors (my favorites Icy Orange & Grape Frost) taste JUST like koolaid!!! They are costly tho.... $3.50 a bottle here in Keller TX, but soooooooooooo worth it!!! My dietician said they were fine except they were a little low in calories!!! Can you believe that!! :Banane56: Noone has EVER told me I wasn't getting enough calories!!! A 20 oz bottle has 160 calories and a average shake has 300 calories!!!! Isopure is yummy!!!!! :clap2:

Mandy - - I was just admiring your weight loss!!!! You're not even 1 yr out and you're 19 pounds from your goal weight!!!!!! You're a great inspiration!!!!! CONGRATS!!!! :Banane56: Tina -
Does Planter Fascitis (sp?) make just your heels hurt? Mine hurt all the time. Even in bed. I get pedicures thinking it is just rough from going bare foot & wearing sandals all the time, but maybe it is something more!!! Should I see a doctor first or try more supportive shoes first?
-
Kathy - -I agree with you about Ace but he is a hottie!!!!!! I'm not impressed at all with Katherine!!! How did Chris get in the bottom 3?? What's up with that??
-
Yea know the soda thing is the hardest for me too! I'm scheduled for surgery on 5-1-06 & am a C2-a-holic!! LOL (C2 is the Coke that has 1/2 the sugar & calories of regular Coke but isn't Diet Coke--which I can't stand). My doctor requires a 3 week pre-op. I had 1 C2 last week and 1 C2 so far this week. It is a HUGE struggle for me, but like Ceparano said, its not good for the band. By surgery date, I'll be off soda for good! I will say that I don't feel nearly as bloated since I've almost stopped carbonated beverages. I used to drink between 8-10 Cokes (C2) a DAY!!! I'm sick!!!!! LOL

I need HELP!!! I'm just starting my 3 week pre-op diet. I'm supposed to drink a Protein shake for Breakfast & lunch, a sensible dinner & snack (I have a list of foods on that). My BIG problem is I cannot get down the shakes. I actually gag!! I've tried the big canister from WalMart, I've tried the one thru my physician, & I've tried Isopure. HELP!!! HELP!!! HELP!!! I asked my dietician if I could substitute high protein food and/or snack in place of shakes and she said no. I routinely do NOT eat breakfast or lunch. I drink C2 ALL day long and then eat way too much for dinner. I'm doing ok on the C2 by drinking alot of Water or drinking iced tea. My dinners & Snacks are going fine with ALOT less food than I'm used to. Its those damn shakes!!!! Any suggestions of alternate foods? I CANNOT drink the shakes!!!!! Help me plz!!!!!! :help: :help: Tina

Tricia - I have'nt tried any cereal bars, but that does sound good! I'll try that! Elizabeth - Do you buy Medifast online? Does it have an aftertaste? Tammy - I did go to the GNC today and bought Isopure in the fruit flavors. I'm gonna try it tomorrow. The girl @ the store said it is NOT thick, so maybe I can get it down!! Keep you fingers crossed for me! Sarah - I'm still in the PRE-op phase. My surgery is scheduled for May 1st. The Crystal Lite you're talking about, is it the 5 calorie stuff you add to a bottle of Water or does it have Protein in it? The 5 calorie Crystal Lite is actually good, but I need the "protein"! YUK!! :nervous Thanks everybody for your suggestions!!!! :clap2: This has been really tough for me!!! Tina

Hi Carrie! Thx for the reply! I've scheduled a consultation with Dr. Robert Sewell in Southlake on Thursday, 3-30-06, 9:00 am. YEA! YEA! His self-pay price ($18,800) is higher than some others, but I've heard alot of good things about him. I did attend his seminar!! Keep your fingers crossed for me!! Tina
