Hi All! I've not been banded yet! I went to a seminar of Dr. Sewell, Southlake, TX. I will be a self-pay! His fee is $18,800 for 1 yr of service. I'm interested in info on Dr. Benevides, Dallas, TX of Dr. Smith, Hurst, TX. Does anone know if I decide on a different phy do I have to attend their seminar too before making an appt? Also, what is the average wait time from appt date to surgery date? I've done alot of research on LB and am SOOOO ready, just trying to decide on the doctor. Also, one thing I'm dreading is the Protein shakes. I can't stand that stuff. Any good receipes? Any suggestions for alternate methods of liquid Protein that might taste good!! :hungry: I'm new to this site but am sooooo glad I found it! I know there is a "vote" going on about people being able to access this site from a google search. That is how I found this site and am glad I did!! :clap2: Thanks for your help!! Tina

PhotoNut - - How do you determine the calories and Protein amounts when you make a homemade roast? Also, are we supposed to be getting a certain amount of protein daily? I'm not banded yet. Have my consult appt on 3-30-06. Also, it seems so funny that when I was trying one of my 50,000 diets, I was supposed to eat celery sticks. Now I can't! What's up with that?? Also, to me Peanut Butter would be hard to get down without Water. But, several people have commented on eating peanut butter! Help! I'm confused!! Tina

Hi All! I've been to a seminar of Dr. Sewell. His cost is $18,800 for 1 yr of service and he keeps you in the hospital for 23 hrs. In reading other posts, no other doctor does that?! Also, the other doctors fees are $15,000 for 1 yr of service. I'm a self pay. I'm concerned about the great difference in cost. I'm also considering Dr. Benevides or Dr. Smith. Do I have to go to their seminars too? Also, I'm REALLY ready to get this started. I've done ALOT of research and am now just down to the best physician. I live in Keller. How long does it take to get an appt? Then how long between appt and surgery date? Also, I'm REALLY dreading the Protein shakes. I can't stand that stuff. Any suggestions for alternatives or receipes?? Thanks so much!! This site is great!!! Tina

Hi Janet & Mikey!! Thanks for the suggestions!! I'm feeling better about the shakes. I made my appt with Dr. Sewell!! YEA!! It is March 30th at 3:00 pm!!!!! YEA YEA YEA!!!! When you say milk, is 2% ok? I don't like milk at all, but can choke down 2%. The family drinks it anyway. I can NOT handle skim or soy milk for sure!!!! I know I'm being a baby about this!!! I'm gonna buy the choc and vanilla whey Protein stuff at Walmart!!! You guys are great!!! Tina p.s. Mikey beat 'cha to the punch this time!! p.p.s. I wil be out of town this weekend or I would have loved to go to Jason's Deli. It would be great to meet people...and I love Jason's...YUM!!!!

Mikey & Janet! You know I have to agree with you guys! Dr. Sewell was very impressive. He did take us on a tour of the hospital. The psychologist was absolutely hilarious during the seminar. Since you guys were self-pay like me, how long did it take you from first appt to surgery date? Also, I've seen that whey Protein (big container) at WalMart. Do you mix it with fruit or anything? I'm really weird about that stuff....really dreading it. Tina
