Happy News at Follow-Up Doctor's Appointment
*susan* replied to blizair09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay, that is fabulous news! I love hearing when people are doing so well. Now, you have me curious, what is hydro-therapy? -

Looks like things are moving along, that is wonderful. It will be worth it in the end. In the meantime, you can spend lots of time learning as much as you can about your upcoming life change and being well prepared.

Hi Misty, and welcome! I am so excited for you, and am confident you are going to do well. You will love the support you get and friendships you make here.

Wow, this is a tough one for me to respond to, but, I am going to be honest. It can be a very slippery slope. As many have already said, I too became a total lightweight after surgery. But, my real problem came in that I began substituting alcohol, White Russians, to be exact, as my choice of "comfort" instead of food. Unfortunately, that led to some major weight gain for me, nearly 40 pounds, which I am now working very hard to take back off. At six years out, it doesn't come off as easily as it did in the beginning. I am lucky now to lose a pound a week, which is quite frustrating. Now, I am drinking mostly Water 24/7. I will have an occasional drink, but for me, I have learned it is just not worth it.

I'm so jealous of those of you who don't have the strange noises anymore! I am six years out and have all kinds of crazy sounds in there. And, of course, my totally obnoxious and loud hiccough that notifies me I have officially had enough to eat. ???? Sent from my SM-T810 using the BariatricPal App

I hate these vitamins
*susan* replied to sarajeano's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Many people have had success with the Patches. And, for those of us who have had WLS, they are much easier than trying to swallow or chew large pills. Have you looked at the patches we offer in our store? https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/bariatric-Vitamins The best way to determine if they are effective for you is by having blood work. -
Anyone eat hummus?
*susan* replied to spunkyheather's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cedar's Garlic Lovers Hommus (yep, that is how they spell it) is amazing. I eat it with all small amount of measured out pita chips or vegetable chips for a nice afternoon snack. Sent from my SM-T810 using the BariatricPal App -
Vitamin patch
*susan* replied to nursegettingheathy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have heard primarily good feedback. One good way to check is to have your bloodwork done before starting and again a few months later. We have many options available in our online store: https://store.bariatricpal.com/collections/bariatric-vitamins/suitable-for_gastric-sleeve Sent from my SM-T810 using the BariatricPal App -

I agree with KristenLe, you should be checked out by a doctor. Sent from my SM-T810 using the BariatricPal App -
3 days more till surgery
*susan* replied to Ron Love's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The pre-op diet can be so rough, I honestly believe the first three days are the worst. Once you get past the initial headache phase, it gets so much easier. You just have to keep reminding yourself what the reward is for following the pre-op diet. If you find that you are really hungry and just need something, call your doctor. Sometimes they may allow you something like a small piece of chicken breast. But I would only do that on your own personal doctor's recommendation. -
Pre-op testing almost done
*susan* replied to blue8eyes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ouch, I hurt just looking at that picture! My guy would have totally passed out if he saw it, he is such a wimp when it comes to needles. Glad you are done with it and one step closer! -
Go away head hunger?
*susan* replied to mrstkgreene's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like you said in your title, it is more head hunger than physical hunger. Keep reminding yourself why you had this surgery to begin with, to be healthier. You cannot do that if you succumb to head hunger, especially at only two days out! Try and distract yourself, read a book, watch a movie. If you are in the car, maybe play a game of "I spy" with someone else in the vehicle with you, anything to get your mind off of food. -
I have my operation on September 19, 2016
