    I am officially grossed out...
  4. gms1972, welcome to VST! It is perfectly normal to have second thoughts before undertaking surgery such as this. However, many of us have been on diets most of our lives and have tried just about every diet known to mankind. We are usually successful with those diets, for a time, but eventually end up straying and gaining everything we lost back, and more. There comes a point when we just really have to take control of our health and our future and do something permanent. You know when you have reached that point. You just have to be prepared and committed to making the lifestyle changes that this requires too. If you are, then you are ready and will do well.

Hey Carmella, glad to hear from you! Are you loving Dr. Aceves and his staff? They are so amazing. Take it easy, girl and here's to a fast recovery!
  7. Dange, once you are able to move on to mushies, you will find a significant increase in your energy level. I know I did.
  8. Good luck today!

  9. Ahhh, the infamous blue juice. Yes, I remember it well thanks to this lovely picture my hubby felt the need to take:

I am also glad to hear you are home and on the mend. Take care and get plenty of rest.

    What's on your mind?

Yes, we do want to see pictures! Daisy, did you get your hair done? I know you guys were talking about it.
  12. Like Vegas said, Dr. Aceves is wonderful and did not charge extra. He explained to both my husband and I before surgery that while he is "in" there, he looks around just to make sure there are no other medical problems, and if he sees something, then he goes ahead and corrects it while you are already in surgery. I am eternally thankful that he does that, considering he found and removed the tumors!

    over ate and feel fine

I get very, very uncomfortable if I eat too much. It almost feels as though the food is trying to push itself back up into my chest. I am only able to eat about 3-4 ounces per meal. My family ordered pizza the other night, thin crust. I was only able to eat a half a piece. For lunch today, I had one slice of bread, folded over with roast beef and a slice of provolone cheese. I was able to eat about 3/4 of it.
  16. Wow, I cannot believe your day is here already. You worked hard and went through so much to get here, and I am pleased you won the battle! You will do wonderfully, and we can't wait to have you join our "loser's" circle. Take care and let us know how you are doing.
  17. Thank you so much for sharing this! I agree, it is very helpful for people to have an idea of what to expect prior to and immediately following surgery. It helps to calm the nerves.

Cost of Sleeve in Wisconsin WOW

    Yikes, that is high!!
  20. I thought all dumplings, Chinese included, were made mostly from flour. Pretty much anything with flour seems to get in the tummy and expand, at least for me it does.

    My story...

Hi and welcome to our forums. You will find a ton of great support here and learn quickly that we are actually all one big family. Nobody understands what you are going through and about to undertake more than those of us that have been there too. I am confident that once sleeved, you will see a significant improvement in your health. And, an improved general outlook on life comes with that as you begin feeling better, have more energy and confidence about yourself.
  22. At work, I always bring my lunch from home so I can spend my lunch hour relaxing in my office with the door closed while surfing VST. However, I have been eating mostly frozen dinners for lunch, which tend to be high in carbs and sodium. I am curious, I would love to see what others are packing for their lunches. Hopefully I can get some good, healthy ideas from you guys before I hit the grocery store. Thanks.
  23. Yay, Helen!! That is so exciting!

    All was well until today

Bob, I am sure your family appreciates your decision not to take pictures! But yes, liquids in, liquids out. Not fun, but just part of the process.

    Nausea

Being only six days out, you are probably still a bit weak. And, as already mentioned, nausea is also a sign of possible dehyrdration. Are you making sure you are getting plenty of liquids in?
