I made it to the onesies!
*susan* replied to MNMema's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Woot woot! Welcome to onederland, beautiful lady! -
Sure, as soon as you can explain some of the weird names men use to refer to their penis, lol.

Surgery is at 7:30 tomorrow!
*susan* replied to NewAshes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Woo hoo, tomorrow is the start of a whole new life for you. Good luck and let us know how you are feeling as soon as you are up to it. -
Absolutely, mine did! I used to be a 9 double wide. Now I take an 8 narrow.
-
Lol, after reading this I am tempted to actually go weigh mine just to see.

Financing TJ/Mexico self pay
*susan* replied to josh427's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I know there are several companies that do financing for bariatric surgery. I actually have a spreadsheet of them, that I am attaching here for you. Hopefully, one of them can help you. Financing.xlsx -
week 3 and I'm at a stall already
*susan* replied to kitch101's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Search stall on the forums, and you will find that what you are going through is completely normal and expected. Just about everyone stalls somewhere between weeks three and six. Remember, your body has been put through a lot these last couple of weeks, major surgery, major changes in your diet, etc. Right now it is saying whoa, I need to take a break and adjust to everything that is happening. I promise you, keep doing what you are doing and the weight loss will start reflecting on the scale again. Also, I always like to remind everyone to keep track of their measurements as well. While your scale may not be reflecting any changes, you still may be losing inches. -
When you choose your surgeon ... you get his team too.
*susan* replied to Water Nazi's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Great topic, you are so right, it isn't just the surgeon, it is the entire team. You want to make sure they are all reputable and in a full-service hospital with modern equipment that is staffed 24/7. I know that was important to me, I wanted to make sure there was qualified staff around 24/7 to provide care and, emergency care, if needed. That is why forums such as BP are such an important part of the research process, because you can gain first hand knowledge from those who have already gone through the process. -
That is awesome that you are getting such great support. It makes me happy to see more and more US doctors willing to provide aftercare to patients who choose to have bariatric surgery in Mexico. I have a couple of patients who will be going in within a day or so of when you are, I will see if I can get them to contact you here. I know I am still in close contact with my "sleeve sister" that I met when I had my surgery done, it is amazing the bond you form with someone going through the same thing at the same time as you, and wonderful how after several years, we still remain close.

How much time did you research Doctors?
*susan* replied to BrandNewBrandy's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Doing your research is vital, whether in the US or Mexico. It is your body and your life, so of course you want to be confident in the surgeon you choose, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. When people warn you about surgeons in Mexico, take it with a grain of salt and don't let it worry you. There are good and bad doctors in the US and the same goes for Mexico. That is why the research is important. As far as my own personal experience goes, I was amazed when I went to Mexico. I too had several surgeries done in the US. The care I received in Mexico was far superior to what I received in any of the hospitals I had been in here in the US. They are so attentive to your needs and making sure you are comfortable and feel at ease. For me, it was a wonderful experience and I am currently considering going back for some additional surgery. -
That looks so good! I am definitely going to try it. We love using the slow cooker and coming home to the house smelling yummy and dinner being ready. Thanks so much for sharing!

Quick pop in to say I lost exactly 4 pounds this week!!
-
Sounds like you had a fabulous fast day too!
-
Today is my fast day, just like last week, I do have a bit of a headache, but not as bad. I finished my dinner at 7:00 last night and didn't eat again till 1:00 today when I had a small Wendy's chilli. I have been craving chocolate in the worst way today, and my sugar free hot chocolate did nothing to satisfy the craving. I just keep reminding myself I can have it tomorrow. Bill is heating me up some of his homemade chicken soup for dinner and that should finish me up right at 495 calories for the day. How did the other Monday fasters do today?
-
Oh wow, I love Trader Joe's. They just opened here about six months ago, I was so excited. I go there every week now.
-
I started doing 5:2 on Wednesday, which was my first fast day. I chose Monday's and Wednesday's to fast, as it works best with our schedule. So, tomorrow is fast day number two for me. I ate dinner super early for me tonight, 7:00. We usually don't eat until around 8:30. Tomorrow, I won't eat anything until lunch at 12:30, which seemed to work well for me last week. I haven't gotten on the scale yet, I refuse to do that until Wednesday, my official weigh day. I am curious to see how I did.

BrownDoesAll, I completely understand where you are coming from. Feeling so much better than before, but wanting more. If I have said it once, I have said it a million times, why can't they fix our brains when they fix our tummies? I have the same demons I always have, and know I always will. I don't eat because I am sad, depressed, happy or anything else. I eat because I love food! And not the good, healthy stuff either, give me the bad stuff. Hence, why I came very close to goal and then started going up, up and up on the scale again. After having read the book, watched the show, etc., I really do believe this makes sense and can work, maybe your body is just going through an adjustment period and you need to give it a little more time. I don't think any of us should beat ourselves up right now. I am just going to accept it is the holidays, there is going to be a lot of celebrating and that involves food. I am not going to forbid myself from partaking, I am going to do my best not to overdo it, but, if I do, I will not beat myself up about it because I know the holidays will be over shortly and then I can get back to a disciplined regimen. CGJ, the dating scene, oh wow. I went through that after my divorce a few years ago and couldn't believe how much things had changed. The biggest thing I did notice though, is how much more accepting men seemed to be of overweight females now than they were when I was young. Then again, perhaps men my age are more mature and have a more realistic view of what woman really are than the younger ones do. The biggest thing I have learned from Bill, my fiance, is never put yourself down. So often, when we look in the mirror, we see our old selves, which were still beautiful. But, the people we meet now didn't know that person, they see someone with more confidence, showing their inner and outer beauty. You have it, own it and enjoy it! As far as the group goes, I admit to being bad. As forum admin, I don't have to have an invite, I just allowed myself in. Please forgive me for that, but I did tell Laura-Ven that I was going to join the group, and she didn't run in the other direction screaming. I can see things from your point of view, Daisy, and that is what groups are for. But, from an admin point of view, I see CJG's too. You know what they say, don't post anything on the internet, even in a private setting, that you don't want anyone else to find out about. I am of the belief myself that this is a support forum first and foremost. I agree, if someone is seeking support for 5:2, they should be able to benefit from the knowledge and experience of all of you in this group, because you have been doing it for a while and understand how it works. I can understand being selective of who you let into the group, but I don't think I would personally say okay, we have reached this number and we are not letting anyone else in. You could end up missing out on developing a lasting friendship with someone who shares the same interests and you could have both mutually benefited from having them in the group. But, those are just my thoughts, and as the newbie to this group, I will just state my thoughts and step aside.

Soooooooo incredibly happy for you!
-
Seriously, it is a fascinating soap opera though! I enjoyed every bit of it. I am fasting on Monday and Wednesday. Those are the best days that fit my schedule. No way would I even consider doing it on the weekend. FYE, that was part of my problem with TDEE, I could just not ever eat that much food, I felt like I was going to explode. I find I am happy around 1,400 calories a day. I haven't gained recently, but I haven't lost that embarrassing 40 pounds I gained either. I am also considering a re-sleeve.

Um, Coops, hell yeah, wear it and wear it proud girl! You look hot! I have to admit, I did read this entire thread this afternoon. I gained some great insight into all of you, and myself as well. When it comes to men, I didn't realize it till after my divorce, but I cannot date someone shorter than me. I feel so shallow, but I just can't. I went out with the nicest guy, attentive, sweet, caring, loads of money, but he was shorter than me and it just bothered the heck out of me. I tried, but I couldn't get past it so I ended things with him. Thank goodness Bill is taller than me, because I couldn't imagine life without him. So, day one of my first fast is going okay. I resisted all the temptations around me. But, I have had a killer headache since about 1:00. And, while I tend to always feel a bit colder than most, I have just been uncomfortably freezing all day today. Keep in mind, I live in Florida. I got home about half an hour ago, took two Bayer headache pills, ran to my room and put on my sweats and big, ugly fluffy socks, went to the living room and here I sit, under my big, comfy blanket and have Bill building a fire. We have the heat on too, and I am still freezing. I read about this in the book, but didn't expect it to be this bad. At any rate, tomorrow will be better. After I have my soup for dinner I will finish the day out at 495 calories.

Gainesville being represented here, lol.

I need to add, I just walked into the break room to fix myself my fat free hot chocolate, and there are biscuits, scrambled eggs, a breakfast casserole and bacon. I resist. Then, I set my drink on my desk and run to the ladies room and sitting on the conference table are Krispy Kreme donuts, are they trying to sabotage me??!! Lol. I haven't ate yet today, but plan on getting a small Wendy's chili for lunch and am really looking forward to it, especially now.

Thanks, and I actually plan to sit down tonight and read this whole thread, I expect knowing you guys, it will be quite entertaining. Lol.
