    Milkshake?

Exactly, for me, moderation means not denying myself of the things I love. I love chips. I used to eat a whole bag. Now, I am happy with a one ounce serving of fat free Pringles sour cream and onion chips. I have them about once a week with my healthy lunch. If I go to a birthday party and everyone is eating cake, I am going to eat it too. I don't eat this stuff everyday, and when I do eat it, is a small, measured serving of it, it satisfies me, I'm happy and do not feel deprived. If I said something was off limits because it is "not healthy" and thus forbidden for the rest of my life, I would eventually end up binging on all kinds of crap. Doing it the way I do it, in moderation, works very well for me. Sent from my iPad using VST

    Anyone from Jacksonville???

He is wonderful, you will be in very good hands with him. I had some medical issues after being sleeved in Mexico. I went to many doctors who didn't have a clue what was wrong with me. Someone finally recommended him to me, and he was the only to really sit and listen to what was going on with me, order the appropriate tests for me and finally get me on the road to recovery. Guys, I am quoting Alex's earlier post to this thread. This is the last warning. If you continue attacking each other or being rude and disrespectful, we will have to start issuing warnings and/or account suspensions. I realize this is a heated topic, but there is no reason why people cannot state their opinions in a respectful manner without calling each other names, etc. Sent from my iPad using RNYTalk

    Milkshake?

Nah, I'm with LT on this. If I could have just said no, I am never eating certain foods again, then I wouldn't have needed this surgery. I could have and should have been able to do it on willpower if that were the case. I am a foodie, I thoroughly enjoy food. I did so to an excess. I got the sleeve so I can continue to enjoy the foods I like, but in moderation. I have not and will not give up anything, sorry. The majority of the time, I try to make healthy choices, but if I want something, I eat it. My sleeve prevents me from overdoing it like I did in the past and I love it. So, yeah, I am one of those everything in moderation kind of gals. Sent from my iPad using VST

  12. I just saw this ad on tv and for $14.99, I am thinking it might be worth trying. I checked out their website, but am curious, have any of you heard of this or had any experience with it? If you have, with you mind sharing your thoughts? http://www.tryfinishingtouch.com/

Hi and welcome to our forums, we are so happy to have you join us! I think you will be very pleased with your decision to get sleeved, it is a wonderful weight loss tool. Let us know when your surgery date is and, of course, if you have any questions, just ask. Sent from my iPad using VST

  15. I agree, the attacking of others really needs to stop, please. On another note, I got my sleeve to be able to eat like a normal person, not to deprive myself of things I love. Normal people eat treats, such as ice cream sandwiches. It is okay. Like the OP said, pre-sleeve, she would have ate the whole box. I am a salty/crunchy kind of gal myself. Before my surgery, I would sit down and eat a whoe bag of chips with dip. Now, I still eat chips and dips when I want it, but thanks to my sleeve, it is just a small portion like "normal" people eat and I have not sabotaged my weight loss efforts by doing so. Beer - Ouch

One could also argue the reason that these studies seem to center around gastric bypass patients is because gastric bypass has been around for years and in terms of studies regarding any weight loss surgery, most of the studies are on gastric bypass. The sleeve is a relatively new surgery in comparison, we still don't even have many studies available to us on the long-term effects of the gastric sleeve. Personally, I know alcohol has a much greater effect on me now than it did before my surgery. I also believe that based on initial recent findings, it is wise of surgeons and nutritionists to advise their patients of the possible risks regarding alcohol to any and all bariatric patients, regardless of surgery type. I wouldn't use the excuse of a lack of published studies specifically on gastric sleeve patients as a pass to go ahead and drink too much alcohol. Everything in moderation, my friends, everything in moderation. Be aware of what you put in your body and how your body responds. Over-indulgence is never a good practice. Sent from my iPad using VST
