Alcohol and 2 weeks post op!
*susan* replied to sarahzamudio1091's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was advised not to drink alcohol for at least eight weeks, and I followed that direction. Now, at well over three years out, I do enjoy my White Russians without any issues or guilt. Sent from my iPad using VST -

Who has had their sleeve the longest?
*susan* replied to himalaya62's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am one of the longer sleeved ones here, but only about 3 1/2 years. Thing is, in 1976 my mom had a horrible bleeding ulcer. It was so bad, she ended up having over half of her stomach removed. Essentially, very similar to today's sleeve. At the time, she was 102 pounds overweight. She lost all of that within about two years of her surgery. To this day, her and I both are only able to eat small amounts of food. She has never had any adverse effects and remains at a healthy weight. Sent from my iPad using VST -

A thread for people who dont argue, name call, dictate or generally just be nasty.
*susan* replied to AussieLady's topic in The Lounge
As forum administrator, I have moved this thread to the lounge as it is more appropriate there. As a fellow member, I am begging to be a part of this wonderful group as well! People come here for support, to vent, to learn they aren't the only one experiencing something and to be a part of a community. There is a big difference between being supportive and offering advice, and what some refer to as "tough love" because what works for them should work for everyone else. We all have different philosophies, as long we are happy and getting healthier, that is what really counts. -
Wow, I am getting the strangest looks from my fiance, as I am sitting here on my laptop quite literally LMAO, thanks guys, I needed this!

Wow, am I the only person who sleeps on these forums? Some of you are offended by the term "sleeve nazi". I have seen many, many members on these forums refer to people as "stupid", "idiots", "ignorant" and the worst of all "retards". My sister was mentally and physically disabled and I watched people call her those names for years. But, I know that when many people use these same terms on the forums, they are not thinking of them in that manner. They are not meaning to specifically degrade people with a disability. Just as most people nowadays don't think of the Germans, Jews or such when using the term "Nazi", to them it refers to a harshly domineering, dictatorial, or intolerant person. Take things with a grain of salt. If I got offended every time someone referred to those terms I mentioned above because of my sister, I probably would have gone ban happy on these forums by now.

In terms of your typical fast food places, like McDonald's, I cannot eat there anymore. It tastes like pure grease to me, and I usually end up racing to the bathroom as a joyful side effect from it. Yes, I know, way too much information, Susan, sorry. Sent from my iPad using VST

I could not tolerate regular Vitamins, I tried several kinds but just couldn't get them down, and when I did they made me sick to my stomach and the aftertaste was unbearable. My fiancé is a licensed nutritionist and he came home with the gummy vitamins for me one day and I do great with them! Sent from my iPad using VST

Anyone using a Fitbit?
*susan* replied to Strangefruit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my goodness, I have had my Fitbit for a year now and absolutely love it! You would be surprised at how that little devise can motivate you to move more. Sent from my iPad using VST -
In general, you are pretty much always accompanied by someone on your surgeons staff, from being picked up at the hospital, the hotels, and being accompanied back to the airport. I always felt perfectly safe and comfortable. Sent from my iPad using VST

I am over three years out and having been taking Prilosec from day one. To this day, if I just miss one dose, I am miserable. My surgeon was the one who advised me to take it. I have tried other, cheaper brands, but Prilosec is the only one that works for me. Sent from my iPad using VST
