Filet Mignon, Pizza, chips and my famous dip...these are a few of my favorite things.

Oh Lisa, I will definitely keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I hope everything goes well for you. Please keep us posted.

Hi Heather, You can do this girl! It is tough, and to be honest, I have cheated a tiny bit. Like the others say, after the first 2-3 days the headache does go away and the tummy stops growling. The biggest part is just the idea of wanting food and wanting to chew. I am really having to keep myself busy to conquer that. But, you will get through it and it will be worth it. Good luck!

Good luck and let us know how everything goes. I will be joining you on the 28th.

Wow, I thought it was a great show tonight. They all really got to show that they are great singers. Uh, except Kellie. Bye Bye Kellie.

Hey Melinda, I am not Central Florida, but was just so excited to see someone posting under the Florida thread that I had to stop by and say hi. Actually, I did live in Central Florida until 4 years ago. I grew up in Mt. Dora and then moved to Leesburg. We moved to Jacksonville, so I am now northeast Florida. I am getting my band on the 28th and hope we all have lots of success.

Hi Molly, I haven't been banded yet....but I can tell you that I had an outpatient surgery due to some female problems last year and it took me a good two weeks just to bounce back from that. I found myself taking frequent naps and just not having much energy. I think that some of us just might not bounce back from any type of surgery as quickly as others. I hope you get your energy back and get to feeling better soon.

So - what's your status?
*susan* replied to sleepyjean's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I got married the first time one month after I turned 18. We were married for 12 years before he started cheating on me with my best friend (obviously, no longer friends now). At first, I thought my life was over and it was the worse thing to ever happen to me. Turns out I was wrong, it was the best thing to ever happen to me. I married the most wonderful man in the world in 1999. We are best friends, soulmates, ets. No one has ever made me happier in my life, and he is my biggest supporter. He has only known me as a large person, I can't wait to show him a new and improved me. -
I will be 40 in November. :think

How the band changed my life! (pictures)

Wow, you look fabulous! And look how much your children have grown and changed in the past year two. You have a beautiful family. -
Hi and Welcome  You will love this site. There is so much fantastic information and advice here. I know the insurance thing is frustrating. I live in Jacksonville, Florida, and no insurance company here is paying for the band. But, my hubby said he wants me here to live a long happy life with him, so we are going private pay too. We ended up refinancing our home and cashing out with the money for the surgery. Good luck to you.

I understand where you are coming from. My surgery is on the 28th and I started my liquid diet on the 10th. I am not nearly as hungry as I was. The times it really seems to bother me is when my family is eating dinner, and then I just want to chew something, anything solid. My doctor has us on Physician's Weight Loss. We are not even permitted veggies or anything for dinner. I wish we were. I am experiencing the nasty breath. I think they call that ketosis or something? I laughed when I read your comment about the dogs breath. We have these little "yip yap" breath mints for dogs and my hubby threatened to give me one of those the other day. But, we can do this and it will so be worth it in the end.

Oh, I am so excited for you, your surgery is tomorrow. I understand your being nervous, but it will so be worth it in the end. I am sure you will do well, and make sure you check in with us afterwards once you feel up to it and let us know how you are doing. My thoughts and prayers are definitely with you.

I know what you mean, I really count on this site for support and was so stressed when it was down yesterday. I am really struggling keeping myself motivated on my pre-op diet and count on the support I get here to keep me going. I am so glad we are back up. :biggrin1:

Happy Easter to everyone. I hope you all have a great day.

Good Morning Heather, I know what you mean, my surgery is two days after yours. I just want the date to get here already. It is going so slow, and the fact that this liquid diet stuff is driving me insane and I just want to chew on a piece of real food is not helping one bit. I am just trying to stay busy with getting the house all cleaned up, working on some mini projects I have been putting off and, of course, staying busy at work as well. Next weekend, I plan to go shopping on Saturday and get all the stuff I need for post-op. I am going to be making a list from all the valuable suggestions here on LBT. Good luck, before you know it we will both be bandsters!

Ok, so, my doctor told me I need to be on my pre-op diet for 2 weeks, 3 if I can. My surgery is two weeks from today. I started the pre-op liquid diet on Monday. I have already lost 5 pounds. I am now officially starving. I have been very well behaved. The family is having pizza tonight and I so want just one slice. But, I am afraid what will happen if I do. I probably won't, but am just wondering if anyone cheated on their pre-op diet, and if you did, how close were you to your surgery date?

Pre-Op Liquid Diet - does everyone have to do this?
*susan* replied to Gettinghealthy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgery is scheduled for April 28th and my doctor had me start on the liquid diet on April 10th. He has us get our "liquid diet stuff" from Physician's Weight Loss Centers. I have found most everything I have tried so far to be quite yucky tasting. But, I am reminding myself there is a wonderful benefit to it, as a reward, I will get my band. Dr. Herrera said the liquid diet is necessary because they will be doing a lot of work right around the liver. When you eat, the liver collects all the fat and ucky stuff. If it is in bad shape, it could easily get damaged during the surgery. He said if he goes in and my liver is in bad shape, I will not get the band and will have paid him $16,500.00 to just go in and look around a little. I want that ol' liver to be healthy, I am not going to risk my band for anything. So, I am sticking to the liquid diet. And, on a good note, after only 4 days, I have already lost 5 pounds. :nervous -
Sounds like things are going wonderfully, congrats! :uwelcome:

That is so exciting, congrats! One of my goals is to be able to walk into Victoria's Secret, find something sexy that actually fits me and be able to wear it for my hubby! :uwelcome:
-
Ok, so my surgeon is sending me for a sleep apnea evaluation tomorrow. His assistant said this is standard practice on all pre-op lap band patients. Does anyone know why? Thanks.
-
Congrats on becoming a bandster. Can't wait to join you and I hope you get to feeling better real soon.
-
Congratulations on getting your date! It is exciting and scary all at once. I am scheduled just a couple of days after you, on the 28th.
-
That is awful! That is the most I have heard of anyone paying for this surgery, insurance or not. I am private pay and my cost is $16,500.00. I am surprised your insurance company didn't refuse to pay due to excessive and unusual amounts.
