    Liquid Diet after fill??

Two weeks?!! :omg: Wow, that seems extreme. I had my first fill on Monday. My doctor told me liquids for the rest of Monday and Tuesday. Then mushies on Wednesday and back to normal on Thursday.
  2. Wow, that is ironic. Which flea market do you go to? We just moved to Jax a couple years ago, and I haven't found one I like yet. As to fills, my doctor doesn't have a fill nurse. But, I think even if he did, I would prefer he do it. He just has such a way about him and makes me feel really comfortable and safe. I completely trust him.
  3. This post is great, you really can learn about anything on LBT, including . I personally love performing oral sex on my hubby because he loves receiving it and I love making him happy. I hadn't thought about the protein benefits involved. I generally try to swallow as little as possible though, it just kind of grosses me out. I can't imagine it would hurt the band though, unless you do have a really bad gag reflex and vomit.

I know we are all different but...

I hear you and know exactly where you are coming from. Based on many of the postings I had read prior to being banded, I had thought the recovery process would be quick and easy. And, for some, it was. Not for me. Like you, it took me awhile to start feeling well again. The first week I was miserable. By the end of the second week I started feeling more normal again. But, it took a good 3 plus weeks before I finally stopped constantly being aware of my port and having that pulling sensation on it.

    Pills and Supplements

My "former" pcp put me on Meridia back on January. I had mentioned to her that I was considering the band then and she flat-out told me she does not approve of any weight loss surgery and would not support me in it. She insisted I take the Meridia instead. Ugh, I felt awful. My heart raced, I was very nasuesous and lightheaded all the time. I will never take Meridia or Phentermine again. Does the hoodia several of you mentioned have similiar effects? Where do you buy it?
  6. I am with Cashley on this. I have absolutely no restriction since being banded on April 28th. I have not lost anything since going off of liquids. I am ok with this for two reasons. One being I knew after spending so much time on these boards there was a good possibility I may not see any significant loss until I have my first fill. Two being I have not gained, and prior to my band, I was gaining anywhere from .25 to .50 pounds per week. So I consider the fact that I have not gained a victory in itself. However, I go for my first fill on Monday. While I am scared of having the fill itself, I cannot wait to start feeling the restriction I hear all of you talking about. I want to see $16,500.00 worth of results, lol!

    Chocolate Addictions...

I have this problem when I am suffering from PMS. Weight Watchers has wonderful new candies that are really good and individually wrapped. Most of the grocery stores and drug stores to have them in the candy aisle. I have found these usually work very well for satisfying my cravings. Also, slimfast has a peanut butter crunch snack bar. If you like butterfingers, try one of these because they taste just like a butterfinger, but with much fewer calories, fat, etc.

    at a stand still

Hi, I had my band on April 28th and go for my first fill on Monday. I have more or less not lost since getting mine either. However, I am not upset by that as I spend a great deal of time reading these boards. What we are both experiencing does not appear to be all that unusual. Many people say they experience no loss, or even gain, prior to getting filled. And, for many, it take as many as 2 to 3 fills before they reach their "sweet spot" and begin seeing any significant loss. Let us know how things go once you have that first fill, and good luck to you.
  9. Niki, If you find one of those blinking lights, please let me know because I could sure use one!
  10. My PCP was dead against it. In fact, she had put me on meridia in January and insisted that was all I needed. Never mind that the meridia made by heart race, I was nauseus and lightheaded all the time and generally felt miserable the whole time I was on it. She is firmly against any type of WLS. Needless to say, I am looking for a new PCP because I want one who supports me rather than is against me. However, my OBGYN is very supportive of the lapband.

    First Day

Hi, I am about 7 weeks out and no regrets. I am not losing right now, but I also have not had my first fill yet. I am not upset about the lack of a loss because I have spent so much time on the boards and see that many people do not lose, or even gain, until after they have a fill. I don't think this is a decision I could ever regret. How are you doing with your fast? For me, the first couple of days were the worst. After that, the hunger subsided and I mostly only had to deal with the head hunger. Best of luck to you.

    How Often Do You PB

I have been banded for about 7 weeks now. The first week I was on mushies I pb'd once. Then, for some reason this week, it has happened twice. Once on chicken, which normally goes down easy for me. The other time we had Japanese food delivered to the house, and I ate a piece of the steak. I should have known better, it was way too tough and it was a most unpleasant experience. I haven't been filled yet, so I am hoping after next Monday when I do, this doesn't become an even more frequent problem.

    Help with what to eat

I had to do Physician's Weight Loss liquid only diet for 2 1/2 weeks pre-op. However, every doctor seems to have a different pre and post-op diet plan. I would recommend you go by whatever he/she tells you to do. If you are unsure, then call them.

HELP! Will insurance cover ER trip?

Oh my, I hope you get there fast and get taken care of. I will be thinking about you. I would guess it would depend on your insurance. I have BC/BS of Florida. While it did not cover the band, I was told if I had any complications, etc. that it would cover that. Best of luck to you!
  15. So far, I have not had any problems taking medications of any kind. However, I have my first fill scheduled for Monday, so things may change after that.
  16. I clicked on the link and read everything and I just don't know what to think or say. Is this for real??? It seems pretty gross.

    Whoaaaaaaa... Locking threads at will?

Wow, Vines, that is awesome! I would love to talk more, but I heard about this awesome new icecream diet where you lose 5 pounds by eating ice cream. The truck is backing up to my front door now and I have to empty all the other stuff out of the freezer before the ice cream melts. (I live in beautiful Florida too, and ice cream melts quick here).

    I've learned the hard way

This was an amusing thread and I enjoyed it. However, I don't drink with my meals. I had corn, and learned it will not go down for me. I was having the massive golf ball pain. My dh came in with the best of intentions with a glass of water for me in the hopes it would wash it through. I drank that, the water came right back up and put me in even more pain than I was in prior to drinking it.

    A very embarrassing problem

Donna.... I like your raw almonds suggestion. I think I am going to have to pick some up on my next trip to the grocery store. Thanks.
  21. I have the same problem with anything I drink since getting my band too. It has to be room temperature, absolutely no ice, or it just plain hurts going down. I wonder why?

    Advil

This is the first time I have heard anything about advil being linked to erosion, so I will leave that to the more knowledgeable/experienced bandsters to answer. However, I am a little over 4 weeks post-op and have taken advil fairly frequently without any problems with it going down.

    Swollen abdomen

Between all the gas they pump in you and the iv fluids, you are bound to be bloated and gain weight. I know I weighed 4 pounds more when I left the hospital than when I went in.
