When I was little, Sunday nights was family night. We would sit down with a big bowl of popcorn and watch The Wonderful World of Disney and Wild Kingdom as a family. I had such fond memories of that. Then, when my kids came along, we carried on the tradition and would watch the Crocodile Hunter. My kids learned a great deal about respecting nature from his show. I feel just awful for his wife and young children.

Newbie, Banded 8/11....my Bday
*susan* replied to LISA T's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
What an awesome birthday present! Starting a new life on the birthday of the day your life begin. I think that is cool. -
Brooklyn, Now you are being the argumentative one, much like your mother was being. This thread is about the sad death of a well-known celebrity who was also a husband and father to a young family. I feel your posting your argument about something that has nothing to do with this thread was very inappropriate and uncalled for.

Yep, I am a pogo addict too. My screen name there is the same as here. You will see me in Canasta a lot. I also like Mahjong (can't spell it) Garden a lot too.

April 2006 Bandits September Challenge
*susan* replied to Ceparano's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Everyone, I passed up on the ice cream yesterday and got on my treadmill instead. I can't add my exercise to my signature post because apparently my sigy is too long already. So I am just going to keep track of mine on this thread and cut and paste it. September Exercise Challenge: 9/1: None 9/2: Ice Cream instead of exercise, bad me. 9/3: 30 minutes on the treadmill! -
My dh and I were just reading about this on Yahoo news. How awful. It said it there that the barb pierced his heart. It mentioned that his wife had been informed and she had told the children, but it did not mention that she heard about it on the news. How awful! He did a lot for bringing awareness about animals and their protection to the public, and in a very entertaining way. When my kids were younger, we never missed his show when it aired on Sunday nights.

I love that movie, it is a classic.

Ok, at the risk of looking like a complete dummy, I have to ask.... What is tofu? Have heard of it, but really have no idea what it is and think I might be afraid of it.
-
Stitchy, do you find the benefibers to be helpful? Not to give too much information, but ever since getting banded, I am lucky if I go once a week and when I do, it is a painful experience. I think I need to start taking something.

Hi, and I hear ya! I got my second fill when I had my port revision surgery a few weeks and finally am understanding what restriction is and am definitely loving it.

Neuro-surgeon on Tuesday! Death to Pitunia!

I hope everything goes well for you! Please keep us posted. -
I have two things that always bring up stuck foods. One is to take a small drink of coke, which always works for me. The other, I thought was kind of strange when suggested to me, but once I tried it, it worked is to lay on your bed with your head hanging over almost touching the floor and let gravity work its course.

Hey Mrs. Christy, I see you mentioned My Space. My daughter was rather insistent that I set up a myspace, so I have finally got it up and going and just joined the big lapband group they have. Are you a part of that group? Just wondering. I am a computer geek, gadget geek and internet addict too, lol.

Hi Mel! Welcome, you have found a great place for advice and support. I know I have gained a ton of wonderful knowledge here and it played a big part in my decision to get my band when I was still in the research phase. Please feel free to ask as many questions as needed, we are all here to help and support each other.

Hi and welcome to LBT! Congratulations on making the decision to get the band, I am sure it is one you won't regret. This is such a wonderful tool, I wish I would have discovered it years ago. If you have any questions, please ask away. We are here to help. Oh, and if you haven't already, make sure to check out the "stickies" at the top of just about every forum. They are loaded with really valuable information.

That hasn't happened to me, as both of my fills took effect pretty quick, especially my second one. However, I have read a lot on this board of people saying it took one to two weeks before their fills kicked in. Nobody really knows why that happens, but for some, it just does. Maybe you are one of them.

I agree that everyone is different and recovers at a different pace. And a lot of it has to do with how your body reacts to anesthia too. Personally, it was over a week before I really got to feeling well enough to get up and around much. I was laid off from my job two weeks before surgery though, so I had as much time as I needed to recover, thank goodness.

Wow, I only paid $75.00 for my zofran. I would have passed out if I paid $158.00. But then again, I paid $16,500.00 for the surgery, so what is another couple of hundred bucks to make sure I don't vomit myself into a slipped band?

:biggrin1: Jen, reading your post made me smile, lol. It is so good to see people post about how happy they are with their bands and that they are loving it. I started really loving mine after I got my first fill too. Restriction is a beautiful thing!

My doctor keeps us overnight too. The day of the surgery I was only allowed to suck on ice chips. The following morning, before I went home, I was given clear broth and jello.

Yep, that is definitely why he is the ex. Worked out for me though, I married the greatest love of my life so it was a blessing in disguise. Don't worry Brooklynn, I went a bit OT, but that seems to happen here a lot lately.

I love the idea of having a smartphone and having all of my devices combined and information quickly available to me. I tried the Treo 650 for a while. After 3 months, I decided the reception was lousy, I missed a lot of calls, and I found it to be a bit to big and bulky. So, I sold it on ebay and went back to my razor phone. However, as I mentioned before, I really like the smartphone idea and would like to get another one. So, I was wondering if there were any fellow gadget guru's on here who have a different smartphone that they are really pleased with. If so, please give me your suggestions and the pros and cons of the phone. Thanks for helping me decide which phone to go with guys.

Thanks for the site Jenna, I am definitely going to check it out.

Heh heh. I hate hearing that phrase. That is what my ex-husband said when he was caught coming out of a hotel room with my ex-best friend by her husband and he wanted to beat the crap out of him. He actually put her between them. What a loser.
