    Presurgery diet question

My doctor had me on the physician's weight loss center liquid diet for 17 days prior to my surgery. It wasn't easy, but I lost a lot of weight during the process, and the ends certainly justified the means.

    Surgery Looms nearer

Hi Ladies, I remember when I was just a few weeks pre-op like you are and what an exciting time that is. Don't be nervous about the surgery itself, as it really is a breeze. You arrive at the hospital and the next thing you know, you wake up and have your band. Make sure you follow all of your doctors instructions, and don't be afraid to ask him questions. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions here, as that is what we are all here for. Have you checked out the "stickies" at the top of just about all the forums? Most of them have very valuable information for pre-bandsters and I think you will find them very informative and useful.

    April 2006 Bandits September Chat

Hmmm, Eficka, seems like some strange suggestions she has. My doc inserts the needle in the port and gives me a bit of fill, then he has me sit up so I can drink and he can see how well it flows. When I had my first one, we knew I was too full when I took a big drink and it immediately came right back up, that was soooo pleasant.
  5. I honestly don't have anything to add that everyone else hasn't already said. My philosophy has aways been, "if they are talking about me, then they are leaving some other poor soul alone."

    what is PB??

And, while it may be productive, I am not sure why they call it a burp, lol. I have never had it be just a "burp".

Woohoo! I got my pretest date!

Wow, that is a long time to wait. Do you have to go through one of those things where you have to try and diet for so many months before or something? Oh well, at least you do know it will happen.

    The Funny Truth!

Goodness NO, you are certainly not dumb. This was a confusing mess that actually began several months ago. I feel sorry for the moderators having to wade through everything to figure out what to do, that must have been an exhausting job for them and a hard decision to make. At any rate, it is all long done and over now, pretty much everyone involved has either been banned or moved on. We need to do the same, move on and get back to the business of supporting each other through our band journey. And, thank goodness, it appears that we have indeed done that.

    Hello everyone

Hi Cory, and welcome to LBT! It is natural to be nervous prior to your surgery, but I am sure you will do fine. Before you know it, it will be done and over and you will be on your way with your new band. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Hello Everybody

Hi Tracicat! Welcome to LBT and congratulations on your upcoming surgery. This is a very exciting time. Does your doctor have you on a pre-op diet? Before you know it, the two weeks will be gone and you will be an official bandster. Feel free to ask questions, we are glad to help.

    I don't get it

Gummies, do not get frustated hun, many of us have experienced the exact same thing as you after getting our band. I gained about 6 pounds between getting my band and getting my first fill. What is important to remember, and something my surgeon constantly reminded me of, is that now is the time for healing, not losing weight. The time for losing will begin after you get your first fill. It may even take a couple of fills, but I promise, you will reach the point of restriction and begin losing weight.
  15. Denise, that is wonderful news. While your waiting, keep researching here and ask us lots of questions. Again, congratulations!

    Hello from Huntsville

Hi Monica and welcome to LBT! This is a great board for support and advice. I think it is awesome that you and your hubby are doing this together. What a great support system you must be for each other. Hey, tell him to get on here and join us too, we would love to meet him as well. Again, welcome!

    Need to Vent...need support!

Hi Margo, Head hunger is a tough thing to fight. The good thing is, our band won't allow us to over-indulge too much. I was also going to ask, how is your restriction right now? Maybe it is time for a fill. Another couple of suggestions... Set some mini goals for yourself and when you reach it, reward yourself with a non-food reward. Maybe a manicure, massage, new clothes, something nice like that. Something I did this month that has really helped my motivation was to join one of the many challenges that are usually being done on the board. I am currently in an excercise challenge for the month of September and it has really got me going. So, maybe check out some of those, find one that interests you and sign up. Good luck to you, you can do this!

    Pre-surgery Testing

I was self-pay, but my doc still required a psyc. eval., nutritional assessment, sleep apnea test, ekg and blood work.
  23. Oh yea, I definitely think shopping for 5 hours is considered exercise. Especially when we get closer to the holiday time and you have to fight with people over things, lol. Nothing like a little holiday aggression to help the pounds come off.

Eficka, was this your first ever fill? Wow! I can't believe she didn't numb the area first. My surgeon does all my fills and numbs them first. Isn't it weird when they have you sit up with this big ol' needle still sticking out of you? Anyways, I am glad they decided to give you a fill. And, I was also happy to hear from an April Bandster!
