    Don't need a new band

Hi Babs, I am glad to hear that you do not have to have additional surgery. Hopefully they will get everything straightened out for you and your band will start working for you.

    Time to Recover

What type of rotation are you talking about? Honestly, I think each person recovers differently. I have seen many posters that were up and around in no time. Unfortunately, I was not one of them. It was a full week before I felt like getting around much at all. It was a full 2 1/2 to 3 weeks before I felt like my old self again. Have you had any type of surgery before? If yes, how quickly did you recover? That may be an indicator of how you do with your lapband surgery. I have always been one to recover slowly from surgery.
  3. Boo, I agree with the others, it may be time for another fill. I think I am at my sweetspot, if not, then I am darn close. After eating a certain amount of food, (I am not weighing or anything, but I would say probably around 5oz or so) it will suddenly hit me with this feeling in my chest that I am ok, but if I take just one more bite, I will regret it. I have finally learned to listen to that warning and have stopped pb'ing too, yea!! I don't get hungry in between meals anymore except for once in a very great while. And when I do, either a piece of fruit or a 100 calorie snack pack more than fills me up. Hey Bluehill, I have a thinner digital scale. I have learned that in order to get accuracy on it, I have to make sure I always put my feet and toes in the exact same place on the scale. Just the slightest difference can make a big difference pound wise. So, I marked the spots on my scale where my feet and toes should be. As long as I place them there, I can get on and off the scale ten times and will still have the same, accurate reading every time.
  4. Oh my, I too have recently discovered a form of peanut butter ice cream that is going to be the death of me. It is Breyer's peanut butter tracks. It has mini chocolate chips and big strips of peanut butter and I am in love. I don't understand this at all either. Pre-band, I was not an ice cream person, I never have been. It could be in my freezer and I was not even mildly tempted. I got fat on the crunchy, salty stuff. But this darn peanut butter tracks ice cream, I can't say no. The only good thing about it is I eat some and feel so guilty that as soon as I am done I immediately head for the treadmill.

    Always Cold...

Yep, even in the middle of summer you will find me curled up on my couch with my favorite afghan thrown over me.

    How many Calories???

Honestly, I have no idea. I don't count calories, carbs, protein or anything else. I have no desire to spend the rest of my life counting anything, which is one of the reasons I got the band. I eat until my band tells me I am satisifed and I stop. I only eat my 3 scheduled meals a day and an occassional healthy snack.

    What's for lunch/supper?

I had a bad news, stressful kind of day and was looking for comfort food. So, it was meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans. Thank you band for only allowing me to eat a small amount.

An update on my band problems...

Hi Babs, my goodness, your poor thing, it sounds like you have been through a lot. Having a compassionate doctor makes all the difference, I am so glad you found one. I hope everything turns out well for you, please continue to keep us posted.

    Bracelets

Honestly, I saw the white one and didn't find it to be very "attractive". I ordered the one from Inamed. It is a very pretty teal color, has the lapband on it and says "I'm with the band". Best of all, it was free!
  15. *susan*

    Blah

I'm so sorry to hear about your infection, but glad it hasn't changed how you feel about the band in general. I hope everything gets healed up quickly.

    Where'd my port go?

Nope, I did not have a clue. I had no pain, burning or any other indications that anything was wrong. When I went in to get my second fill, my doctor couldn't find the port. He put me under flouro and that is when we learned it had flipped.
  17. Hi Everyone, Kat, I hope you have a great time at the fair! I love going to the fairs, it reminds me of when I was a kid. I just don't know if I could resist the temptation of the funnel cakes though, lol. I hope we do another challenge in October. For me, what I am doing right now is great. Prior to this challenge, I had not been doing any exercising. So, I like that I am getting on my treadmill and doing something. I just feel like I need to ease my way into it. I am adding a little bit everytime and it is working great.
  18. *susan*

    Where'd my port go?

That is strange. I thought they said as you lose weight, you would become more aware of your port and it would stick out more. I didn't lose mine, but it did flip and I had to have revision surgery.
  19. Thanks for sharing your album with us. You look absolutely beautiful!
  20. I had absolutely no restriction from the band itself. After I had my first fill, I had some restriction, but not a lot. However, after just my second fill, I believe I have reached the infamous "sweet spot" and am truly loving it. That is when my weight loss really started kicking in. It has been almost 5 weeks now since my second fill and I am still feeling and loving it.

Help in SC -- fill closed up

Ditto what housecatgirl said. Also, I have heard that in an extreme situation, you can go to the emergency room for an unfill too.

Has the flavor of food changed for you???

I haven't noticed a metallic taste, but what I like and don't like has definitely changed. For instance, I used to love McDonald's french fries. Not anymore. With our chew, chew, chew rule, I have found that they start to taste like a big blob of grease in my mouth, so I don't eat them anymore. There are several other foods I have decided that I don't like now that I really have to chew them and see what they really taste like too.

    Newbie From Arizona

Hey Samantha and welcome! I am so glad you found us. I know there are some other members on this board that are close to your age and hopefully you will hear from them as well. No matter what your age, being overweight is a tough thing to deal with. I wish the band would have been around 20 years ago, because I definitely would have had it done then. You are so young and have your whole life ahead of you. I am proud of you for making this decision that you want to be healthier and are going to do something about it. I think you will have great success with the band. How do your parents feel about it? I am assuming they are supportive. Have you been to a seminar yet? As you are going through the board, make sure you check out the "stickies" that are posted at the top of each forum. They are loaded with valuable information that will help you along the way. And, of course, do not be afraid to ask questions. We are all here to help and support one another.
  25. Hi Jenna, I am not from Idaho either, but I still wanted to take a moment and welcome you to LBT. You will find a ton of wonderful information here that will be helpful to you as you go along your journey. If you have any questions, please ask, we are here to help.
