  1. No new suggestions here... I just wanted to say I was excited to come back on after being off for a few hours and see the layout has been rearranged a bit. I think it was a great idea putting all the important information for our new members at the very top of the forum. Awesome idea!!! Woo Hoo for our Mods!!!!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

    1st Fill Advise

I also would wait until after the vacation. Everyone reacts differently to their first fill, and there is no predicting what your response will be. It is better safe than sorry. For example, it is very rare to be overfilled with your first fill, but if you were, it would sure be miserable to be on vacation far away from your doctor and miserable the entire time.

    Bandster Hell

Yep, ditto what Randy said. Once the initial swelling from your surgery has gone down, it is normal for your appetite to return to normal. Now is the time for healing. You are correct that the real weight loss will start once you start getting fills and reaching proper restriction.
  5. Hi Jenn, sweetie, this must be such a bittersweet time for you. I am so sorry about you and your husband. My husband left me back in '99 and I thought my world had come to an end. But, it had only actually just begun as it gave me a whole new life and I found a wonderful new man. You mentioned your mother-in-law will be there for you tomorrow, that is so sweet that she is still standing by you and there for you. Everything will go just fine and I am sure you will feel so much better once the surgery is over, your band is in, and you have begun the healing process, both physically and emotionally. My thoughts are with you. Please let us know how everything goes.

    MySpace.com?

By the way, if you click on groups, there are several lapband groups on myspace.

    MySpace.com?

Hi Everyone, At my daughter's urging, I have created a myspace. I would love it if you would add me. She said I need to get friends, lol. http://www.myspace.com/journeytoanewme

    The Exact Recomended Diet??

I believe the "average" is 4 to 6 ounces of food, or 1/2 cup. I know that is about what I am able to take in at a meal.

    Band Longevity?

Same here, my doctor said as long as I have no complications, there is no reason why I should ever have my band removed. It will be my friend for life. :heh:

    port flip??

Wow, I didn't know it cost that much. My port flipped as well, but I had the surgery done here locally. The cost was $16,500.00 (self-pay), but covers everything, including any complications, for one year. So, my port revision was covered under that and I never saw a bill. As far as the surgery itself, tell her not to worry about it. It is very simple and quick and you are done in under an hour. The pain is very minimal, especially compared to the initial lapband surgery. I was able to return to work the next day with only a small amount of discomfort.

    April 2006 Bandits October Challenge

Hi Betty, First off, I am continuing to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Your daughter-in-law sounds like a very strong, positive person and I am sure her strength will help your son. Now, just curious, was is a NIA class? Just wondering. Thanks.

    port on right side

    I am a righty! :biggrin1:
  14. I was on liquids for 10 days and then progressed to mushies for one week and on to normal foods. Each doctor has different rules they have you follow. The important thing is that you follow what your doctor has regimented for you.
  15. *susan*

    I'm back!!

Wow, what an ordeal to have to go through. Congratulations on getting your band and here's to smooth sailing from here on out.
  16. I did not have it pre-op or post-op and I have an excellent surgeon. When it comes to the lapband, it seems every surgeon has different standards and rules.
  17. *susan*

    Newbie

If eating is still uncomfortable, definitely go back to liquids for a few days. Listen to your body and trust your instincts. Oh, and of course, always listen to your doctor as well.
  18. *susan*

Anyone afraid to tell their boss?

Just curious, why do you have to tell him anything? It is your body. If you are not comfortable telling him, then don't.
  19. *susan*

    burping

Not me, since getting my band, I can no longer burp. But, boy do I hiccough. In fact, that is my signal to stop eating, a giant, obnoxious hiccough!
  20. *susan*

    Super tight

Not to get too personal, but is it close to or at that time of month? I know when I get my period, I get so tight that I am relagated to almost nothing but liquids for about 3-4 days. Once my period is over, things go back to normal again.

    First fill; all seems well

Thank you for sharing your story, I am sure it will help others as they get ready for their first fill. I love your outlook, it is so uplifting!
  22. *susan*

    Two milestones

Congratulations on getting your first fill, I am glad it went easy for you. I find them to be relatively simple too. As for the PB, well, what can I say except welcome to the club. Are you being a bit careful with what your eating now that you had that first fill? Things you ate before the fill may not agree with your band now. I know I cannot eat crackers. That is just like eating bread for me and will cause a PB every time.
  23. I had a fairly significant amount of nause for the first 3 weeks following my surgery. It was bad enough that my surgeon ended up giving me a prescription because he didn't want that nausea turning into full-fledged vomiting. Looking back, I really don't believe I was getting enough Proteins or Vitamins, and that is what led to the nausea. How much Protein are you actually getting?

    April 2006 Bandits October Challenge

Kat, I am so happy to hear that your husband is doing better and home all ready! That is wonderful news. Right now, just concentrate on him and making him well again. We are so pleased that things are improving. Well, I just finished another 35 minutes on the treadmill. In some ways, I feel guilty because I am not doing a minute more than the challenge requires. And, yet in others I am proud because I think if it weren't for this challenge, I wouldn't be doing anything at all. 10/4: 35 minutes on the treadmill 10/6: 35 minutes on the treadmill 10/7: 50 minute walk around the neighborhood 10/8: 35 minutes on the treadmill 10/9: 35 minutes on the treadmill 10/11: 35 minutes on the treadmill 10/12: 40 minute walk around the neighborhood 10/13: None 10/14: 35 minutes on the treadmill<!-- / message --><!-- sig --><!-- / message --><!-- sig --><!-- / message --><!-- sig --><!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
