Newbie here and totally lost
*susan* replied to hopeliveshere's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kp2010, you may also want to check out www.mysurgeryoptions.com. It is owned by the same man and company that operates these boards, and I handle all the before, during and aftercare. We are new, so you won't find a lot of information about us, but my passion is helping others achieve what I have achieved with weight loss surgery. Sent from my iPad using VST -
Breast Reduction/Lift *Graphic Pics
*susan* replied to DEZ1975's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had reduction when I was 20. Back then I weighed about 135 and had to have my bras special made because they didn't make them in my size. My only regret was my surgeon butchered me and I lost a lot of my sensation. I am actually considering having them lifted sometime in the near future. I believe sharing pictures like these are important, it helps those considering the surgery to have a better idea of what to expect. Kudos to you for sharing. Sent from my iPad using VST -
I seldom do cardio anymore. I do weight lifting 3-5 days a week. It is what is going to shape my body the way I want it to be. And, as Fiddleman mentioned already, I eat based on my TDEE less a 10% deficit. Right now, that has me at about 1650 calories a day. When I lift weights, I increase my caloric intake, mainly through high Protein foods. It took me close to twelve weeks to reset my metabolism, and it was completely worth it. Nervous Wreck about flying!
*susan* replied to csutton22's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I understand your feelings! The first time I ever flew in my life was when I went to Mexicali to have my sleeve surgery. I was terrified of just the whole idea of flying, and then add to that, the fear of not being able to fit in the seat, I was truly a complete basket case. However, I found that flying was actually an awesome experience and fell in love with it the moment we took off. As for not fitting in the seat, I was 5' 4" and weighed 283 pounds and although snug, I fit just fine. I did have to have a seatbelt extender, but the flight attendant was very discreet about it and I wasn't embarrassed in any way. You should be fine. -
do i tip the coordinator?
*susan* replied to ashleep's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I can understand tipping the drivers, and did so myself when I had my surgery. I wouldn't tip the coordinators though. Most coordinators, whether in-house or through an agency are already paid for the services they provide. Nothing additional is expected. -
These look so good, I love cooking in my crockpot. I will have to share a few of my recipes tomorrow, right now, I think I need to get some sleep. Sent from my iPad using VST

Awwww, you called me "scrawny butt"!
-
Dang, I want to be called a scrawny butt! Beats the name I was called a few minutes ago, lol. But, seriously, the reason behind this is because Alex originally created this forum and the men's forum at the request of members who wanted to be able to discuss gender specific issues without the fear of the other sex making fun of them. We have had some members say they are afraid to post in these specific forums because often someone of the opposite sex comes in, makes a sexist joke, etc., and the next thing you know the topic has gone way off of what it was originally meant to be. We don't censor people from posting in any other forums, we just ask that everyone respect the reason these two forums were created, so men would have a safe place to discuss male only issues with other men, and women would have their safe place as well.

Yes, check out the stickies at the top of each forum. This is per me and Alex. Sent from my iPad using VST

Have to delay surgery by one week.
*susan* replied to Olivia23's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Olivia, I borrowed from y 401K last year, and for an extra $10.00 had the option to have it overnighted. Did you not have that option? I hate to see anyone have to postpone their surgery. As far as surgeon choices go, they are both excellent doctors. Naturally, because Aceves did my surgery, I tend to lean towards him, lol. Sent from my iPad using VST -

I can't pick a Dr! Help!
*susan* replied to mlecompte's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
The doctors mentioned in this thread are all very good. I don't know of any doctor who doesn't provide what you are asking for. The only thing different is some of them do charge a small fee for your traveling companion. But to me, it is worth it. Research is key, and this is definitely a good place to start. You will hear the good, the bad and the ugly here. My best suggestion is to do a search on the primary doctors you are considering, and read what other patients have to say about him/her. You can gain a lot of insight that way. And, of course, check their credentials, make sure they are well-educated, have trained under other respected bariatric surgeons and are experienced.
