*susan* replied to synicalchick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Kyethra, thanks for letting us know how you are doing. So far, it sounds like everything is going well for you. Welcome to bandland!! -
Hope everything is going well for you. As soon as you are up to it, let us know how you did.

Very interesting!
-
Awww, that is wonderful, what a fantastic goal to reach! Congratulations!!!
-
Good luck and let us know how everything goes!
-
I watched it last year before I had my surgery, it definitely helps with knowing what to expect. Definitely worth posting again, thanks.

Hi Deanna, glad to have you join us! You didn't mention, do you have your band, or are you in the process of getting banded?
-
Hi and welcome to LBT. What you are feeling is perfectly normal. For most of us, it takes 2-3 fills to reach proper restriction with the band. But, once you get it, you will love it!

Homosexual Liberal Atheists ~ What's UP with that?
*susan* replied to paladin's topic in Rants & Raves
Thanks for asking that question, BJean, I have been trying to figure out which movie that came from too. -
Am I just a slow learner? Or did it take you guys forever to learn this, too???
*susan* replied to MarySue33's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I sometimes do that too. I just completely forget about my band and that first bite is just too darn big sometimes. I usually remember quickly enough though. The other thing I still do, which shows old habits die hard, is I still load my plate up with food at dinner time. I don't know why, because I only end up eating about 1/4 of it, but I just can't seem to break that habit. -
Unexplained restriction? possibly caffeine?
*susan* replied to BrwnEydGrl82's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not to get too personal, but is it that time of month? I know I get real restricted from about 3 days before until the day after it end. -
I have the same problem as Denise and Wheetsin. There have even been times when the wait staff have sent the manager over because they are "concerned" there was something wrong with my meal because I did not eat very much. I also never order anything to drink when we go out and the wait staff seem to have a real issue with that as well.

Thank you so much for sharing your story, it is great that you two could go through the process together. And, you both look absolutely wonderful!!! :clap2:

Does anyone else have the restaurant card?
*susan* replied to conniesueb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have the card, but have never used it. I still order the regular sized portion and what I don't, my hubby takes for lunch the next day. It works out good for us. -
You sound like you are having the same problem I had in January, and it is serious and you should get back to your doctor right away. I had a fill in January. For a week, I could not eat or drink anything. Even my own saliva was causing me to pb. I let this go on for a week thinking things would get better before I finally called my doctor. By then, I was severely dehydrated and had caused my band to slip a little from all the pb'ing and vomiting. As your doctor did, mine took my fill out. However, he made me wait almost 6 weeks before he would put my fill back in. This was to give me time to heal and time for my band to reposition itself, which, thankfully it did. I got my fill recently and am doing much better this time. Perhaps you needed to leave your fill out longer in order to give yourself time to get fully healed and recovered from the ordeal your body has been through.

Hello from North Carolina!
*susan* replied to Get-N-Fit's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Amanda, glad you found us and decided to join! Congratulations on getting your band, it sounds like you are doing wonderfully so far. We look forward to getting to know you better. -
Hi Sami, and welcome to LBT! There is nothing to be ashamed of here, remember, we are all in or were in the same place as you are now. We are here to offer support and help to one another. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. You will find we are all more than willing to help in any way we can. Keep us posted on your progress.

Hi and welcome to LBT! We are glad you decided to officially join us. Like the others said, the psych and nutrition consults are not a big deal at all. Keep us posted on your progress and let us know when you get a date scheduled.

Personally, I was also invited to b2g when they first started the site. Sherry Jo, if you want to hang out there, that is wonderful. However, I checked in over there and see that you were originally there too, but got mad at something people said there and left until you got mad at things that were said here and have now gone back. Are you going to just keep bouncing back and forth depending upon who has offended you at the time? I think both boards are nice. If you want nothing but fluff, love and talk about cheese, then the other board may be the better home for you. If you enjoy giving and receiving help and support on the lapband, and enjoy having a forum in which you can have intelligent debate about real-life issues such as politics, war, abortion, religion, etc. with the friends you have made during your band journey, then LBT is the board for you. Personally, I enjoy reading all the debates. I am not particularly politically savvy, so I don't usually join in on those debates, but I have sure have learned a lot from them. Most of the conversations I see have been very intelligent, analytical, civil debates with little or no attack on personal individuals. In fact, the most attacking I have seen have been your responses to a post you put in the rant and raves section, in which you were offended because people responded in a non-obtrusive, intelligent manner to what you had posted, and were right to do so based upon the forum it was in. However, you then responded in a very immature way. I don't care what your education is, that has nothing do with one's ability to act and react in a mature, adult and responsible manner. Throwing a temper tantrum, saying you are leaving, then coming back and saying you refuse to leave and telling us how wonderful another board is and how they all warned you about LBT, etc., etc., was responding in a manner in which I personally found to be very grade school like.

Bandster support for us Heathens/Pagans
*susan* replied to synicalchick's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Winnie the pooh bowl and plates, AWESOME! I have a Nemo plate that I bought for my grandaughter, but she has outgrown it, so I use it sometimes now. It is the perfect size plate for the portions I need. And, I love Nemo! -
Welcome back, you are looking absolutely fabulous!
-
I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. However, you sound like a very strong person and I am sure with a strong will and good support system, you will beat this! My thoughts are with you.

It depends on how tight I am and what time of the day it is. Earlier in the day, I can only take small sips. But, by evening I am able to drink in large amounts at a time without any problem. Everyone is different and everyone's band reacts differently to different things. I believe it is a true learning process for everyone.

I would call your doctor first thing tomorrow morning and tell them you have a cold. They may prescribe you something to help you get over it quicker, but I don't think it should delay your surgery. Good luck!
