    Psychics

I have often wondered about the police investigators who say they use psychics to help solve crimes. It seems you hear more and more of them starting to use them. I often wonder how it works, because I am pretty skeptical of the whole thing myself.

    People Magazine

I haven't had a chance to read the article yet, but I wanted to jump in and wish you luck on your surgery too! Let us know how it went when you feel up to it.
  5. I got way off track for a while due to being overfilled for way too long (my fault), causing myself some problems and having to have a complete unfill for almost six weeks. During those six weeks, I really enjoyed eating...a lot. I found I couldn't wait to get my fill last week because I was actually sick of eating crap and shoving food down my mouth. I had let myself get away from these boards, which is my primary source for inspiration/motivation. So, I remembered why I did this to begin with, how good it felt when the weight was coming off and came back to LBT. I lost 4 pounds last week and am totally motivated to get the rest off.
  6. Wow, when I get stuck, drinking works the opposite for me. It makes everything much worse and causes me a ton of pain!
  7. I wasn't given a specific amount to aim for either. I was just told to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet, which is what I do. I have never had any problems with hair loss or anything else. I really don't want to count anything, so I don't.

    So so funny

It's weird, I never watched that show when it was in first run. Now, I watch it all the time and absolutely love it!
  9. I was super hungry while I was on liquids only. But then, once I was able to move onto mushies that seemed to satisfy me and I wasn't very hungry anymore.
  10. Hi and welcome to LBT! It is amazing how much better you will feel when you have the band. It really does feel good to have control of your eating. I was born and raised in Michigan, so am familiar with Saginaw and Flint. Two of my parents best friends have lived in Flint their whole lives. We lived in little 'ol Sparta until we moved to Florida. Anyways, I digress. Congratulations on your decision to get the band. Let us know if you have any questions. The liquid diet can be tough, but weigh yourself regularly and when you see the pounds literally dropping off and know the band will be your reward, you will stay motivated.

    So so funny

That was hysterical! It reminded me of the Everybody Loves Raymond episode where his brother Robert got married and he and his wife did a really crazy first dance too.

    After surgery diet?

My doctor never really gave me a specific "diet" to go on. He does have all his patients meet with a nutritionist to discuss healthier eating habits, etc. So, that is what I do. I don't count calories or anything, I just try to make sure I eat a healthy combination of Proteins, fruits and vegetables in healty size portions. If your doctor has recommended a specific diet plan for you, and you are not sure it is one you want to follow, then perhaps you can discuss other options with him or a nutritionist.

    Stomach Flu & the band?

Zofran is prescription only. My doctor has an ongoing prescription for me. I seldom use it, but it is nice to know I have it when I need it to protect my band.

Am I crazy for doing this so soon?

I say, why wait? You obviously have done the research and are not going into this blind. You have tried other methods. There really is no reason to wait to start becoming a healthier, happier you. Best of luck to both you and your husband.

Its time to take care of me!

Hi and welcome to LBT! I think it is great that you have decided to take care of you. The lapband is a great weight loss tool. Please let us know if you have any questions and keep us updated on your progress.

    Damn it!

I never, ever had a problem with overeating in restaurants. I was always afraid everyone would look at me and point and make comments about how it is obvious why I am so fat. My problem is when I am home alone. The sweets don't bother me. But oh, the salty, crunchy things do call out to me. Give me a big ol' bag of ruffles and some of my homemade chip dip and I could eat the whole thing and be perfectly happily. Thank goodness my band helps me control those urges now! As far as fast food, I used to like it, but now it just tastes like I am eating a pile of grease. I can't stand it anymore.

    Forbidde foods yes or no?

I can eat everything on your list but pancakes. I cannot eat soft breads at all. Crusty breads like garlic bread go down, but I try to avoid them. I have no problem with pork and chicken as long as it is cooked right and not tough. I am a major steak lover, but it has to be filet mignon (oh the sacrifices I make for the band) for it to go down well as other cuts are too tough and I can't chew them up enough.

    Stomach Flu & the band?

I am not sure if there is anything you can do, other than the zofran if you have the flu. I know I always have some just in case, and it works wonderfully.

Do you just want to share???

I have to be honest, if someone were to have done that to me, I would have been very insulted and pissed off. In fact, it probably would have lead to some sort of confrontation between that person and myself. Honestly, I have been obese since I was 19 years old. I don't live in a secluded box. I knew there were diets out there. I knew there were weight loss surgeries out there. I knew there were tons of people who had success with both. But the bottom line was, until I was ready to commit to something and had basically hit rock bottom and decided it was time I really had to do something with my life, no one person would have made any difference in their efforts to convince me to lose the weight. I don't care how great they thought their method of weight loss was, I wasn't ready, I wasn't in the right place for it and I would have just been thoroughly annoyed at their getting in my business, especially if they were a complete stranger. Just my two cents, for what its worth.
