Mississippi Republican presents bill to make it illegal to feed obese people
*susan* replied to NukeChik's topic in Rants & Raves
It is a pretty ridiculous idea. I don't see how it can compare to refusing to sell alcohol to someone who is intoxicated or banning smoking. Smoking is not a life-sustaining need. Drinking is not a life-sustaining need. Eating is a life-sustaining need. If I were a smoker and smoked around others, I could cause them health problems due to second-hand smoke. If I were a drinker, I could seriously harm or kill someone by driving drunk. If I go to a restaurant and overeat, the only person I am hurting is myself. I just don't see the comparisons. -
Seeing as you are still 9 days out from surgery, you should be fine. But, I would suggest calling your surgeon to see if they might want to prescribe you something just in case.

Hi Sylvia, and welcome to LBT. This is a tough question to answer. In the beginning, gastric bypass patients due tend to lose faster than lapband patients. The band is designed to lose a healthy 1-2 pounds per week. Over time, they tend to even out in terms of weight loss. I would suggest speaking to both a lapband and gastric bypass surgeon to get their opinions. I am definitely not a doctor and unfamiliar with what specific health problems you are having, so as said before, this is a tough question to answer. I hope you find your answers soon.

Hi Sylvia, I am not a doctor, and that is a tough question to answer. The lapband is designed for people to lose a healthy 1-2 pounds per week. Some people lose more and some lose less. I am presently a slow loser. Perhaps you need to speak with both a gastric bypass surgeon and a lapband surgeon to get their opinions. I hope you find the answers you need.

Hi David, welcome to LBT! You are getting close to your date. If you have any questions, let us know. We are all here to help and support one another. -
Hi there! I am not a March bandster, I guess I am what you would call an "oldie". At any rate, I wanted to welcome you to LBT and congratulate you on getting your date. It won't be long now!

Oh my goodness, that must have been so scary! I am so glad you didn't break anything. I hope you feel better quickly.

Bread is the biggie for me, I cannot eat any kind of soft bread. Sometimes toasted bread goes down ok. Anything doughy doesn't go down well, but that is good because it keeps me away from doughnuts. I love corn, but it always makes me pb for some reason too.

Teresa, that is wonderful news! I am doing the happy dance for you!!:Dancing_wub::thumbup::Dancing_wub:

JaxBandster, I cracked up when I read about your tuna experience. My first real food was scrambled eggs. I truly thought I was in heaven, filet mignon could not have tasted in better! It sounds like you are healing and progressing very well. Which charity ride are you getting ready to ride in? Also, just curious, but do you ride in daniel's Rock 'n Ride?

You are definitely going to be busy that day. Let us know how everything goes and when your date is!

Congratulations on getting your band. It sounds like you are doing wonderfully. During the recovery process, you will find the port area to be the most tender. I hope you heal quickly. Keep us posted on how things are going for you.

Ugh, I didn't go until 3 weeks after my surgery. After trying everything, I resorted to the Milk of Magnesia and that got things moving (literally) in about 2 hours. Even now, I have to use it periodically. -
Are you usually "on time" for work?
*susan* replied to TerriDoodle's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I used to work 8-5 and was almost always late because of the traffic in my area. So, I switched my hours to 7:30-4:30 and there is hardly any traffic. Now I am usually at work by 7:15. I love getting here early because it gives me close to an hour of peaceful, quiet time before everyone else gets here and all "all you know what" breaks loose. -
Any info on Mary Estakhri, Pleasanton CA

I am not familiar with her, but thought I would bump this for you. Personally, I think the more knowledgeable one is about their own personal healthcare and any procedures they may be having done, the better! When it comes to my body, I want to know everything that is being done to and why. -
Looks good!

Hi there and welcome to LBT. I never heard of the trimspa challenge, isn't trimspa a type of weight loss pill? At any rate, the band will definitely help you by making you full sooner and maintain that full feeling for a much longer period of time. -
Hi Mike, welcome to LBT! Wow, by this time tomorrow you will have your band!! As soon as you feel up to it, let us know how you are feeling. We look forward to getting to know you better.
