Lump in my breast, was it always there but didn't notice from the fat
*susan* replied to Babydolls's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the others, go have it checked, immediately! I would probably go to my ob-gyn, but all that matters is that you do see a doctor as soon as possible. -
The biggest part of the psych. eval is filling out the paperwork before hand. Like Kathy said, they basically want to make sure you have a good support network, you understand what you are committing to and that you are ready, willing and able to make the commitment so it will work for you. I have gone from a 30 womans and am currently in an 18. I can actually find clothes at stores other than Avenue and Lane Bryant. I have to tell you, it is wonderful.

Lap Band Support Group at Integris
*susan* replied to llmlake's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, I hate to sound naive, but I am not exactly sure where Integris or OKC is. You might have a better response by posting this in one of the local forums near where you live. Good luck. -

Hi and welcome. I think we all fear the pre-op diet. I found that after about the 3rd day, the hunger went away and things got much easier. You just have to keep reminding yourself why you are doing it and that your reward will be your band. -
Sherri, that is great that everything went so will. I will keep my fingers crossed for you on the insurance issues. Keep us posted on how things are going.

Welcome to all of you and congrats on getting your band dates. Looks like we will have a lot of Marchies. Let us know if you have any questions.

My son just had the surgery on Monday :)
*susan* replied to martha2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Martha, I think you are doing wonderful and it is great to see that you are so supportive of your son. It is definitely tough being on liquids when everyone else around you is eating regular food. But, when I had my band I knew that was going to be part of the process and made the commitment to stick to it. I continued to eat at the dinner table with everyone else, but I just ate my liquid meal instead. I felt better doing that, because at least I was still a part of things. Max, welcome. Be sure to check out the forums for teen bandsters and let us know if you have any questions. -
Congratulations on getting a date Tracey. Keep us posted on how things are going.

Bizarre Post-Op Symptom: Burps smell like smoke
*susan* replied to Gibson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, I agree, that is bizarre. I have never heard of anything like that. Have you talked to your doctor about it? -
I regret having the lap band surgery (m)
*susan* replied to allykat's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree with Libra and tweenwaters. My husband was all for my getting healthy and living a longer, happier life. However, he is seven years older than me. When we met, I was fat and he fell in love with me that way. He finally told me he was concerned that he felt I may have "settled" for him because I was fat and didn't think I could do any better. Therefore, he was worried when I started losing weight I would go out and try and find someone closer to my own age, etc. Knowing his insecurities, I make a constant point of letting him know how much I love him and that he is the only man for me. By doing that, he seems to have gotten over his worries and supports me 100%. -
Paula, I referred a fellow LBT'er who had her surgery in Mexico to my doctor last year. She has been going to him for fills ever since. I am assuming he would still be willing to do the same for others.

See, now my hubby has had the opposite problem. I leave food on my plate all the time. He was raised that you don't leave food on your plate and he can't get past that mentality. So, he eats my food and is gaining weight as a result.

*susan* replied to hopeinapril's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on getting your date, I can see how excited you are! I was also self-pay and have never once regretted my decision to get the band. -
I don't have it, but would love to see it because now my mouth is watering for cheesecake!!

Hi, I did not use him, but I thought I would bump the thread for you to see if we can get a response for you.

Hello from Maryland!
*susan* replied to butterflybluz's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi and welcome to LBT. You are getting ready to make a wonderful change in your life. As far as food goes, I got the band so I could lose weight and eat like a normal person. That means, I do try and make healthier choices, but I have not deemed any food a complete no-no either. If I really want something, and my band tolerates it, then I have it. The wonderful thing about my band is that it prevents me from overdoing it like I did pre-band. Let us know how things progress, we look forward to making this journey with you. -
Hey Bunkey, we are glad you found us too! This is such as awesome board for advice, support and inspiration. If you have any questions, let us know.

I am not on a liquid diet at all. However, many bandsters find they are simply too tight in the morning to get any food down. So, we have protein shakes or something similiar for breakfast. By lunch time, I am able to start on food.
-
Goodness, we are all really close to one another. We do really need to arrange to get together sometime. Maybe for dinner at Woody's, or lunch?
-
I agree, I am going to go to the website and check it out. I am getting kind of board with just doing my treadmill.
-
Right now, I am pretty tight in the mornings. So, I am drinking fat free milk with carnation instant breakfast. I love the chocolate malt flavor and it keeps me full until lunch time.

Girl Scout cookies are pure evil, but oh how I love those ones with the peanut butter in the middle!!!
