Newbie from Santa Barbara County, CA

Hi there and welcome, we are glad you decided to join us! I am sure losing weight will definitely help with some of your health problems, I know it did for me. Let us know when you get a surgery date and how things are progressing for you. -
I became overfilled. Due to some brief financial difficulties, I let it go instead of going in to see Dr. Herrera. I ended up letting it go so long that I managed to irritate my esophagus, etc. When I finally went in to see my doc, I realized how wonderful he is. He told me to never let finances stand in the way of my health again and that my health is more important to him than money. He did not charge me for that visit or the next few, he is so wonderful. Anyways, I ended up having a complete unfill for quite a while. We determined I need to take my fills in teeny-tiny steps as a little for me can mean a huge difference. I had a fill a couple of months ago, but it didn't do much for me, so I am hoping the one on Monday will finally get me back to restriction so I can start losing again.

That is awesome news! See ya Lane Bryant and Avenue!!! -
Ok, I guess I will have to be brave and give it a try.

I went through it too, 4 months after getting my band. Like Kim said, getting it fixed is no big deal. I was in and out of the hospital in a matter of about 2 hours and back to work the next day. And, I haven't had a problem with my port since, and that was well over a year ago now.

I think after about the 5th time, I would have smacked my doctor! No way would he have done it 100 times. When you said he did it under x-ray, was it florouscopy? Did he check to see if your port was in proper position or if it had turned abit or flipped? The only time my doctor has not gotten my port on the very first try was when it flipped.

Heather, that is such wonderful news!! Doesn't losing weight and fitting into those smaller clothes feel awesome? It sure is a great motivator to keep on going. Congratulations girl!!!

1.5yrs post op and having problems
*susan* replied to Bsmith2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I basically had a very similiar problem. I will be banded two years in April and have only lost 53 pounds so far. The first year was great, last year was awful. I kept getting over-filled and letting it go until I really irritated my esophagus and had to have a complete un-fill for a long time. I finally got a fill in December, but am still not where I need to be. I go again on Monday and can't wait. My doctor and I have decided that I am one of those people who need to go very slow with fills and only get a tiny bit at a time. If it means it takes me that much longer to reach restriction, then so be it. Anything is better than being overfilled. Perhaps you need to take small baby steps with your fills as well. -
I didn't go for almost 2 weeks following my surgery. It got to the point of being really uncomfortable. My surgeon recommended good old Milk of Magnesia and it really did the trick for me.

Congratulations on getting your date Katie, that is wonderful news. Which doctor are you going to again? I know Dr. Herrera had us do an all liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I can't remember the name of the place, but he has an agreement with some weight loss center in Orange Park where we get all our shakes and stuff from. On another note, I am so excited for me. I go Monday for a fill. With any luck, after all the problems I have had for the past year, I should finally be restricted again! I can't wait to start losing again!!!

Ok, I have heard about substituting cauliflower for mashed potatoes, and see that Ruby Tuesday's has cauliflower "mashed potatoes" but have always been afraid to try it. Does it really and truly taste like potatoes?

Hi and welcome to LBT! It sounds like you are doing well with your band so far. If you have any additional questions, please let us know. I hope your husband is doing better and all goes well for both of you. -
I was completely miserable. I have been sick since Monday and with nothing to do but play on my laptop and sleep. I have been having the shakes all day, and I wasn't sure it was from the sickies or lack of LBT.

Remiele and her baby talk is what is getting on my nerves, grow up girl!!! I agree, she belonged in the bottom 3, not Carly. As for Amanda going home, she was dead set on being the heavy rocker and not really taking any of the judges advice. That is fine to be true to who she is, so long as she doesn't mind that it means she didn't have a chance of going very far on Idol.

I agree, what is wrong with this site today. I select a page and go off and do something else while the darn thing takes forever to load!!!

The only way I can stand to drink water is with the Crystal Light lemonade flavor in it. Like you, about a half a pack does it for me or it is too sweet. I have never had any problems with it causing me heartburn though.

Great advice, I went through the same thing but let it go for far too long. It is definitely not worth it.
