    Gained a pound on mushies

Plus you need to remember that right now, your band is not filled. Basically, once the initial swelling goes down after surgery it is just like you were pre-band. Your appetite is likely to be close to the same and it is not unusual to not lose or gain weight during this time period. The band is designed to work with fills. Once you start getting your fills and reach your sweet spot, the weight will start coming off.

    On the road to bandville...

The important thing is that you have started the process towards becoming healthier. It is great that you have a gym membership and someone to go with, that really makes a huge difference. Keep us posted on how things are progressing.

Band erosion - after 11 weeks!!

Wow, that is awful soon for erosion. I think I would probably question if the band was placed correctly to begin with. I am so sorry you are having these problems. Please keep us posted on what happens.
  6. Ezma, after you get a fill, usually your tummy is a bit irritated from having it and a bit of swelling may occur. Most doctors have their patients on liquids for a bit after a fill. For many people, it takes as long as a week or two for their fills to really kick in. The other thing to remember is just because you have had a fill, you may not have much restriction yet. Sometimes it takes two or three fills before one reaches their "sweet spot".
  7. My doctor is a general surgeon as well. He is very good and has lots of experience. In no way did it bother me that his practice was not limited to bariatrics.
  8. Alice, I know you don't want to call the dentist, but I think the best thing for you to do is either call him/her or your surgeon and explain the whole situation and see what they suggest.

    Pre-Lap Band in Bama

Hello and welcome to LBT. I think you will find most of us here were once where you are now. We have tried every diet, and they just don't work for us. That is why the lapband is such a wonderful tool. I am not sure what your insurance requires in order to get the band. But, I am sure your surgeon's office is familiar with their requirements and if they say you should have a date by the end of April, I would trust their judgement.

    Need to Promote

I am an organ donor and believe it is a wonderful thing to do. I am moving this thread to the lounge though, as it really isn't an "introduction".

Hi Carrie and welcome to LBT. I am not sure if bipolar will disqualify you or not, to be honest. Hopefully someone else will better be able to answer your question. Please keep us posted on how things do progress.

All you people do is complain...

    Good grief!!!
  17. Heather, the breathing spirometer is actually pretty common to have to use following surgery. It can be uncomfortable, but does beat the alternative. Feeling run down, tired and sore is absolutely to be expected, especially if you are only one day post-op. Everyone reacts differently to surgery and anesthesia. I know it took me a week to really feel like doing much of anything, and it was a good 2-3 weeks before I got to feeling 100% again. The main thing was the discomfort from the port. But, it will get better, and is very much worth it. The important thing to remember is that now is the time for resting and healing. Exercise and losing weight will come in due time. It is important to follow your doctors orders regarding levels of activity, eating stages, etc. Lastly, all, please remember to not compare your weight loss to others and get overly high expectations. It is important to remember that the band is desigend to work at its optimum when filled. It is also designed for us to lose a healthy 1-2 pounds per week. However, some may lose a little more, some may lose a little less. What is important is that you are on your way to a healthier you.

    American Idol '08

I agree that Simon is not the one trying to be the next American Idol and create a lasting impression on the American Public. Carly could use some help in the wardrobe area, but she is still an awesome singer. Oh, and I even have my dogs legs crossed hoping Ramiele goes home tonight!!!!

Sonic is ok. My daughter and I usually split an order of their popcorn chicken. But, I must admit that I love, love, LOVE their peanut butter fudge sundaes, they are sooooooo good!

    Priorities out of whack?

I was self-pay but my surgeon did require a psych. eval.

All you people do is complain...

I love pizza! I had to switch to thin crust, and Papa John's has a really good thin crust pizza. We usually order it one night on the weekend. It goes down very well for me, but about 1 piece is all I can eat at a time.

    Sleep Apena NSV

Chris, that is a wonderful NSV. My father uses the CPAP and I understand it can be annoying.
  24. Hi Becky, and welcome to LBT. Unfortunately, I can't answer your questin about protein powders/drinks, as I never really did them much. I just drink Carnation Instant Breakfast in the morning. Perhaps you can do a search or look under our food forums.
