  1. Hi Emily, congratulations on getting your band. You should start feeling better soon. Like you said, it will be worth it. You are doing wonderful thus far, and have a great attitude. Keep us posted on your journey.
  2. Hi Devon, we are so glad you have joined us here. You will find that most of us have tried numerous other methods to lose weight, but it is just not an easy thing to do. There is no shame in choosing to get wls to reach a healthy weight. How could there be when the ultimate goal is to be healthy? The lapband is a wonderful tool, but you do have to commit to it as it is just that, a tool. You have to be willing to do the work, change your eating habits and exercise. I am so sorry that you were bullied. Kids can be some of the meanest people in the world. It is really sad when their parents do not teach them to be more understanding of others problems/issues. Please let us know how things are going for you. We look forward to getting to know you.
  3. Hi billybobby! Welcome, we are glad to have you here with us.

    newly banded

Hi Dennis, welcome to LBT! That is great that you and your wife have chosen to go through this journey together. What an awesome support system you will be to each other. Will she be joining us here as well? It is common to have the area around the port to continue to be tender for quite a while. Mine was sore for several weeks after my surgery.

    Had my 4th fill

Congrats on getting restriction. Better to go slow with the fills that risk being overfilled.
  7. If you can't even keep liquids down, you are definitely overfilled. For some people, the teeniest of fills can make a huge difference (me!). Please call your doctor ASAP and get in for an unfill.

    Lapbanders in Singapore

Welcome to LBT. I am not from Singapore, but thought I would bump this for you to see if we can get you a response from someone who is.
  10. Hi Kas-e and welcome to LBT. You have made a wonderful decision for your health in your choice to get banded. Are you exercising along with your liquid diet? I think if you go in and show that you have lost a significant amount of weight, you should be fine. Keep us posted on what happens.
  11. Hi Jamie. Welcome to LBT, we are glad to have you join us. We look forward to getting to know you. Give us a holler if you have any questions.
  12. Hi Rhonda, and welcome to LBT. Please do not be discouraged at this early stage in the game. It is important to remember that the band is designed to work when filled. Prior to having it filled, you are basically like you were pre-band. Many people do not lose any weight during this stage, in fact, many gain. I think you will enjoy the difference you see once you start getting fills. Keep us posted on how things are going.

    On My Way.....

Hi Jennifer, we are so glad you decided to join us here. This is a great place to learn about the band, as well as get support and advice. It is wonderful to be able to talk with other people who are going through the same process as you. If you have any questions, please let us know. And, keep us posted on how things are progressing.
  16. Hey Dee, welcome back. It sounds like things are progressing well. Hopefully you will have a date soon, let us know.

    Hi from Ireland!

Hi all, after some discussion, the moderators agreed that your thread no longer fell under the category of an "introduction" which is why it was agreed we would move it. We did leave a "redirect" in the introductions forum, but as there have been so many new intros recently, it probably moved quite a bit down the page.

    I'm approved!! (I think)

Congratulations. It looks to me like you have to have your surgery between those dates, or seek further approval?

  22. I gained a bit before hand as I was eating everything in site thinking I would never be able to eat again. It turns out, I was wrong. I can eat just about everything I did pre-band with the exception of bread and other doughy foods.
  23. A friend of mine lives on those sites. She swears she has about a million different diseases just based on what she finds there, even though her doctors tell her different.

    Roslyn

Hi Roslyn, and welcome to LBT! We are so glad you decided to join us!!
  25. In terms of cravings, I did not get the band to be on a diet or be deprived for the rest of my life. I got it so I can eat like a normal person in normal quantities. Yes, I have changed my eating to healthier foods. But, when I crave something, I eat it. My band keeps me in control. And, if I deny that craving, it only gets worse until I go completely overboard and end up binging. So why do that when I can just eat what I crave and enjoy it?
