  1. Hi Sunta, wow, your story sounds like mine. I lost great the first year, then got overfilled, let it go for way to long, couldn't keep anything down except ice cream. I ended up slipping my band from all the pb'ing, as well as irritating my esophagus. Needless to say, my doctor was not happy I let it go so long. I had a complete unfill for quite a while and did put some weight back on as well. We decided I am one of those who needs to go very slow on the fills with only a teeny amount at a time. As of two weeks ago today, I have finally worked my way back up to my sweet spot again and am back to losing. I have never tried Nutri-System, but I do know some people who have had success with it. Good luck to you and welcome back to LBT!
  2. You make it sound like this is a bad thing, why? The band is designed for us to lose a healthy 1-2 pounds per week. 12 pounds in ten weeks is about 1.2 pounds per week, which is right on track. I would applaud her for that and tell her what a wonderful job she is doing. As for the rest of the post, I agree.
  3. Good grief, that is just stupid in my opinion. Why would any want to starve themselves? It just isn't healthy.
  4. I am sitting here eating fettuccine as I type, no problems. It does fill me up very quickly though.

    First Plastic Surgeon Visit!

Crispy, I am moving this thread to the plastic surgery forum.
  6. Thank you, I couldn't agree more! I don't even count calories. I simply do what my surgeon suggested. I eat, wait between bites and when I am no longer hungry, I stop eating. Works for me, I am losing the recommended 1-2 pounds per week.

    hello from louisiana

Hi Cajun, and welcome to LBT! I completely understand your concern with "re-routing your plumbing". That is exactly why I chose the lapband as well. Keep us posted on how things are going.

Worth repeating as this is an excellent post!!

    Am I on target?

Please don't base your success on how fast or slow others are losing. Everyone loses differently. The band was designed for us to lose a healthy 1-2 pounds per week. Based upon that, you are doing outstanding.

    Ice Cream!!!

I believe the purpose of the band is to help me eat like a normal person. Normal people eat ice cream. I eat ice cream. If I want something, I have it. The reason people binge is because they deny cravings until it gets the best of them. I believe everything is ok, in moderation.

This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!

OMG, I had to go to the "Poo Pourii" website. It says: "Spritz the bowl before you go and no one else will ever know." Sorry, that absolutely cracked me up. I know some people who will be getting this in their stockings this year for Christmas, and no, they have not had any type of WLS!!!

    Would It Kill Me....

The best advice I can give you is to call your surgeon's office. Tell them you are hungry and would like to know if you can add something with a bit more substance. They know you best, they prescribed your diet to you for a specific reason. If they feel you are able to add something more, than they will give you the go ahead. If they feel it is not safe for you to do so at this time, then do as they say. Just because someone else broke the rules without consequence, does not automatically mean it is ok for you to do so as well. You paid your doctor a lot of money and entrusted he/she to do what is best for you, so please, just call them.

Fill costs and insurance, Is it covered?

The best thing you can do is contact your insurance company. Better to get a definitive answer from them.
  21. I always schedule my fills on my lunch. My surgeon does my fills and tends to run right on schedule,, so it has never been a problem for me. I never experience any side effects after a fill.

First fil but stll no restriction

You are absolutely panicking way too soon. If you spend some time reading here, you will see that the majority of people do not reach proper restriction on their first fill. For some, it takes as many as 3-4 fills before they reach their sweet spot. But, in my opinion, it is better to approach restriction slowly than to be too aggressive and end up being overfilled (speaking from experience). Give it time, you will reach your sweet spot soon and then the band will begin working for you.
