Any food off limits for life?
*susan* replied to AMLP's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only thing I was told that was off limits is carbonated beverages. I don't miss them at all. -
Yep, I have heard a lot of bad things about them as well. I try to avoid them as much as possible. Target is much better, plus they are known for giving back to the community. So, I tend so shop at our Super Target a lot.

We waited about 10 days, I think. We were just really careful as to not put any pressure on my tummy or port area.

Band Rejection - Answer to Port Problems

Shirley, unfortunately, this is a very old thread. DeLarla's account has been suspended. -
I had looked at other types of wls, but my hubby had heard too many horror stories and was completely against them. When I discovered this site and learned about the band, I asked him to attend a seminar with me. He asked the docs a ton of questions. He liked that nothing would be cut, re-routed or anything else and that is was 100% reversible. We also both felt that the slower weight loss with the band is actually healthier. So, once I had his support, I went with the band.

Hi Angie and welcome to LBT. That is great that you are working out and measuring. When you are not losing as much as you think you should, it makes a big difference to see that you are losing inches. You said you had a fill on March 19th. That is almost two months ago. Many people take 2-3 fills to reach their sweet spot. Do you feel full fairly quickly? It is hard to tell why you are not losing without more information. Maybe you could give us an idea of what you eat in a day, how many calories, etc.

My surgeon keeps his patients overnight. Personally, I was glad to not have to go home right afterwards.

Kim, I am so sorry to hear about your postponement. Talk to the psych. and find out exactly what the concerns are and work through them as quickly as possible. Let us know what happens. We are pulling for you!!

Hi Pix, wow, it is getting close for you! I would be pretty annoyed about the whole blood thing. Why do you have to wait several hours just to have your blood drawn? That sounds completely wacked to me. I had to have an EKG as part of my pre-op as well. You know, I don't think they ever explained why, and it never occurred to me to ask. I was pretty much willing to do anything they told me so long as it got me to the operating room!

Do you keep a food journal?
*susan* replied to Angeladarling's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well, since getting my band I had basically refused to keep a log of what I eat. I had always said I was doing this to be a "normal" person and I didn't want to have to keep track of every bit of food I put in my mouth for the rest of my life. Alas, I joined a gym about two weeks ago. The trainer there suggested I start keeping a log of what I am eating seeing I have the band. He said that way we can monitor my weight and determine if I need to increase or decrease my caloric intake to make the most of my new exercise regime and weight loss program. So, I succumbed. I saw that Jack had recommended the Daily Plate, so I signed up there. I have been tracking for a week now. I must admit, I am actually finding it interesting to see what I am really putting in my mouth and seeing the nutritional content of what I have eaten at the end of the day. I guess I am reformed now. :frown: -
I buy the 100 calorie packs of almonds and frequently have them for an afternoon snack. They really fill me up and keep me satisfied until dinner. As for Trader Joe's, I am always hearing about all the wonderful stuff they have. I so wish we had them here in Florida and am jealous of all of you that can shop there.

Under 300, good times!!!

That is awesome! You are doing great. -
Hi Anavrin, sorry, I wasn't banded by him, so I am unable to answer your questions, hopefully someone else will be. I am truly beginning to feel in the minority here, seems like just about everyone was banded by Dr. C, but me!

I liked it better when they did different eras, style of music, etc. too. They have been doing this "mentor" thing for the past two years and it is getting pretty old. Especially because most of the mentors are, in my opinion, not that popular anymore. I think Idol does it because they figure bringing on these "famous mentors" brings them more viewership. But really, is it fair to the kids? How can we really judge who is the best if they never get to sing the type of music they prefer and are constantly forced to perform out of their comfort zone?

I don't know of anyone. My kids had all theirs and never had any bad side effects.

First off, GO TONY STEWART!!! Yep, the band is basically a "restrictor plate", I like that. -
