Hi Mary, and welcome. The insurance hoops can be frustrating, but, unfortunately they are a necessary evil. In the meantime, you can concentrate on learning as much as possible about the band and preparing yourself for life with the band. And, of course, you can chat with us here at LBT!

Has anyone been treated badly by a mate because of there weight ?
*susan* replied to trish2001's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, first off, I hope you don't mind but I moved your thread out of introductions. Have you sat down and had a heart-to-heart with him and explained how his comments really make you feel. Maybe he truly doesn't have a clue. -
Hi Danielle and welcome to LBT. You are right, there is a wealth of information here. Be sure to check out the FAQ section, you will find a ton of great information there. And, of course, we are available to answer any questions you may have as well. Have you been to a seminar yet? If not, take the hubby with you. That worked wonders on mine.

Welcome to all of Huggie Bear's friends! We look forward to getting to know all of you. -
We painted the whole thing. It took two full coats, but the ocean blue looks good. It is filling up with water now, I can't wait to jump in.

Gloucester, you should see my pinky toe, it is "ocean blue" now. We painted our pool this weekend and somehow I got it on my toe. I have used everything I can think of to get it off and it is still blue.

Iunderstand how tough it can be. I used to be a diet coke addict and craved it like crazy after my surgery. But, you know what, after I finally did have a small drink of one I realized I didn't like it anymore. It tasted thick and yucky to me.

had my 1st fill but as nothing is there!!!
*susan* replied to salam's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Salam, don't panick. Most people do not get proper restriction after just one fill. For many, it takes 2-3 fills before they reach their sweet spot. Also, although no one has been really able to explain why, sometimes it takes up to a week for a fill to kick in, I have had that happen before. How long does your doctor make you wait between fills? -
Goodness, I had been wondering where you were. I never come to this forum, I guess it is because I am no where near ready for ps yet. Glad to see everything went well for you Kat!

I agree that there is a definite difference between spanking and abuse. I don't consider people who spank their children to be abusers at all. I just believe everyone has different ways of parenting. Like I said, when I got spanked, I just thought about how I had to make sure not to get caught next time and that it wasn't fair that my parents got to do that just because they were bigger than me. Perhaps I am just very lucky that my kids responded so well to other methods. If not, I don't know what I may or may have not done.

It sounds like everyone is doing great. It does seem as we get a bit older, it becomes more of a challenge to lose weight, even with the band. I went a whole year where I didn't lose anything, and, sigh, I must admit, actually gained back half of what I lost due to several problems. Fortunately, everything has been fixed, I have good restriction, am working out at a gym and back to losing 1-2 pounds a week.

The protein shakes should help. It is tough, because you just get to the point where you want to chew something. But, you can get through this, it will be worth it to make sure your band heals properly.

So, how are you feeling now? Hopefully all is going well for you. Kay, I used adult liquid tylenol after my surgery and it worked great. In fact two years later, I continue to use it when I get headaches, as it seems to work faster than the pills do. Laurinda, hello neighbor!!

My doctor is in Jacksonville and I have referred a couple of mexican band patients to him for their fills. He charges $150.00 for fills. If interested, pm me and I will send you his information.
