STRAWS - good vs. evil?
*susan* replied to LB4Life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly, my surgeon said no drinking from straws either. As I have never been big on straws, that didn't bother me. As for ice, I don't think it will hurt. However, ever since I got my band, I can no longer drink anything cold. I have to have everything room temperature. If not, it is just plain painful for me. I have no idea why, but it just is. -
I have never experienced it personally either. But, another lady I converse with regularly had a similiar experience. Her doctor put her on a liquid only diet for seven days and that resolved the problem for her. Hopefully everything will work out as well for you, please keep us posted.

Yep, I have been hearing about the sleeve for quite a while too. You just won't find much here about it as this forum is specifically a lapband support forum.

Hello to both of you and welcome to LBT! I am very familiar with the Spring Hill area. I grew up not too far from there in Mt. Dora, and then lived in Leesburg for years.

I think it is worth it. I like having my meals be broken down in to distinct groups. And, I like having the access from my blackberry. Did you sign up via PayPal? If so, watch your account closely. They have been having known problems with PayPal. I have paid for gold and had paypal cancel my daily plate subscription 4 times for no apparent reason. In fact, I had to contact the Daily Plate support just today about the problem again. They have now given me two additional months to make up for the problems.

I hate when people answer a post and it is obvious they have not thoroughly read the post they are answering. Thats all.

I agree Felicia. I have noticed that a lot of people on there log every little thing, like you said. I'm sorry, but I am not going to enter showering, sleeping, watching TV, doing the dishes, etc. If I do really, really heavy duty cleaning to where I work up a major sweat, then I do enter that. Otherwise, I only enter true exercise like going to the gym. One of the things I like about the daily plate gold is their site for people who have smartphones. I have a blackberry and love that I can go to their wap site and have very simple quick and easy access to everything. That is why I chose it over fitday and others.

Hi and welcome. What type of pre-op diet has your surgeon prescribed for you? It can be tough, but the reward at the end will make it all worthwhile. Check in here frequently for the support you need, and just to let us know how things are going. We look forward to getting to know you.

IMHO The hardest part of being banded.
*susan* replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Juli, I completely hear where you are coming from. I don't mind eating with my family, they know and are understanding that I take small bites, chew forever, and just generally take a really long time to eat. My problem is my co-workers frequently want to go out for lunch. Only a few of them know about my band. Anyways, I always feel pressured when I go out with them, because I feel like I need to hurry and eat. I also find myself getting caught up in the conversation and not paying attention to what I am doing. Next thing I know, I am running for the nearest ladies room to pb. That is why most days I just bring my lunch and eat in my office behind closed doors where I can take my time. -
Do you watch more than just calories & protein?
*susan* replied to Northwest_Nance's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have only just started monitoring my caloric intake for the first time since being banded. I was not losing and have found that to monitor my calories has really given me some great insight into what I am actually doing. I probably won't count them forever though, I have no interest in doing that. I will do it just until I get a better idea of the contents of foods I eat on a regular basis and what I should avoid. I have never monitored my Protein intake. I honestly believe that if I am eating a healthy, well-balanced meal, then that should take care of the protein for me. -
I admit, I like watching her show too. My 17 year old son loves watching the food channel, and she is one of his favorites to watch.

Could you imagine pb'ing bulls balls?

Me thinks I know what you thinks.

I heard about this on the news today. How awful, I didn't even think about it being the airshow near you, after you had mentioned the blue angels practicing in your backyard.

Should people barely over 200 lbs or below 200 get Lapband or any WLS...?
*susan* replied to Froggi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
At 180 pounds, it was obvious to me that I had a problem with weight and food. If I had know about the lapband then, you can most certainly bet that I would have done everything in my power to get it done then. Why wait until one has gained so much weight that they begin having health problems to be able to get banded? With that being said, I would like to remind everyone that just because this is R&R, that does not mean we can ignore the rule of attack the idea and not the person. Too many threads have been going that route lately. I have seen it done a couple of times in this thread. Please remain on topic and attack the idea, not the person. -
I used to love gator tail. When cooked right, it is delicous. But I agree, it is definitely very chewy and not something I have even thought about attempting to eat since getting my band.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I am going to give them a try and will let you know how it works. She is such a perfect sweetheart in every other way.

Nope, I haven't had any types of problem with this. Could it have anything to do with the infection that is running through your body? I just have no idea. Let us know what your doctor says.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Like the others said, it is really cool. I want one!!

Wow, we actually agree on something.
