BBK, both times I had to have a complete unfill due to slips, I gained a bunch of weight back. But, as soon as I got a fill, it came back off. I am sure yours will too, especially because you have done so amazingly well with your band. Kat, I think I would definitely have to give them ladies some attitude if I were you.
  6. Actually, two years out I do still occasionally have problems with "first bite syndrome". Whenever I eat, I am always especially careful with my first bite just to make sure things are going to go down well. After I take that bite, I wait a few minutes to make sure everything is OK before I continue eating. If I find it isn't, then I will drink something hot and that usually resolves my problem and I can continue eating. I have learned that I tend to have more problems with this during TOM, or if I have been particularly stressed. During those times, I usually start off my meal with a cup of something hot, just to help avoid any problems.

    Subway - rude servers

OK, with regards to the OP, I am sorry you were treated rudely by the server at Subway. The comments were uncalled for and I would have been upset by them as well. With that being said, I would never have asked for a reduction in price. Most restaurants, especially fast food restaurants, do have fixed prices. I am confident that the standard server/cashier in these places do not have the authority to authorize changes in the price in order to accommodate people's special requests. When I eat out, be it "fast food" or a nicer eating establishment, I understand they have fixed prices, etc. I understand they cannot meet everyone's special needs and would go crazy trying to do so. Therefore, I order what I want to eat. What I don't eat, I simply box up and my dh takes it for lunch the next day. Lastly, in terms of this being a support forum, I believe LBT is a great support forum. However, sometimes people forget support comes in many different ways. When looking for support, don't always expect it to come in the form of people automatically agreeing with you or validating what you are doing. Sometimes, the behavior one may be exhibiting is detrimental to their band and in order to offer proper support, many of us are going to tell you just that. I am not one to ever validate someone who is asking permission to cheat or whatever. If it is wrong, I am going to tell them. However, I will attempt to do so in a polite and respectful manner.

I am just the strangest woman I know. Shoes do nothing for me. For work, I have one pair of blue, one pair of brown and one pair of black. For home, I have my tennies and my sandals. Other than that, I just don't care about shoes. If I can be barefoot, I am. Usually at work, I throw my shoes off as soon as I hit my office and half the time I forget to put them back on before I go walking around the building. I am majorly into books though. I love downloading ebooks onto my blackberry so I can read whenever and wherever, I always have a book with me. Plain, where do I send my $5.00 to?

Posting to say how incredibly happy I am today is Friday. My intentions are to lie low, hide out in my office and hopefully avoid accounting all day!!! I just can't deal with accounting on a Friday... or Monday...or Tuesday...or Wednesday...or Thursday. I am wondering about Mac too. I can't wait to hear how things went for her and if she is feeling ok. Hopefully we will hear from her soon. Ok, I might have to sneak over to you tube for a bit, or actually do some work to try and get the image of a naked, weeping, cheeto eating Plain out of my head.
  11. Hi Mel, and welcome to LBT. I think with every type of weight loss surgery, no matter which forum or location you go to on the internet, you will find people who are thrilled with the choice they made, had problems with it, or wish they had gone a totally different route. Another thing that tends to happen is a lot of the people who have no problems and are very happy with their choice tend to not post on the internet as much because everything is great, they have no problems and are out living their lives. What is important is that you do your research. Way the pros and cons of all the availabe options, talk to your doctor and make an informed choice on what is best for you. With the band, you have to work at it harder than with most wls. The band is a tool, but once you commit to getting it, you also have to be willing to commit to a whole new way of eating, to changing to a healthier diet and to exercising. It takes all of that to be successful with the band. With all that being said, I love my band and am very pleased with it. Best of luck to you. Please let us know if you have any questions, we are all here to help and support one another.

    non scale victory (NSV)

That is wonderful! Doesn't it feel great? Your weight loss is amazing too.
  13. When my port flipped, I actually had no symptoms and didn't even know it until we were unable to give me a fill. I think Irish gave you very sound advice. If you are in a great deal of pain, you need to call your doctor and explain what is going on and he will advise you what to do from there.
  14. How about starting your own social group for college students in our social groups section? If you would like help with that, let me know and I would be happy to help you set one up.
  15. I was a self-pay. But, it was important to me that the surgeon who did my surgery was the one that did my follow-up treatment, fills, etc., so I found one close to home. I do understand, however, that this is not an option for many and that I was lucky.

    I?m alive!!!!....

Hey Pix, welcome back! Sounds like you are going to be one busy lady. My stepson was stationed in Mildenhall a couple of years ago when he was in the airforce. He actually met his wife there. Then, he switched to the army and they are now based out of Germany, but he is currently serving in Iraq. Anyways, he loved Mildenhall.

Thats one of the things I don't like about Florida, there really isn't much difference between summer and fall. DH and I usually take a road trip up to North Carolina in October to see the beautiful changing leaves though. We always look forward to that.
