    Fitness Center

Judy, that is great. I have heard of Curves, but not Slim and Trim. Your parents sound like my parents, what they said made me laugh. Our parents are most definitely of a different era.
  2. Amanda, good luck tomorrow! This is the start of your new life. Let us know how you are feeling as soon as you are up to it.
  3. That is great news. Taking it slow and easy and paying attention to your bodies signals is key.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

Hi everyone! Drive by posting just to peak in and see what is going on.
  7. Hi, we are having some technical problems with chat right now. Our systems people are working on it.

    Prayers needed!

Oh my goodness, the poor thing. She is definitely in my thoughts. Did you get her information so you will be able to check on her and see how she is doing? If so, please keep us updated as well.
  9. Even though I have the signal, I am still bad about not listening and taking just one more bite. It is that last extra bite that does me in every time!

    Making Exercise a Habit

I wish I could get myself up in the mornings and go to the gym, but I am just not a morning person. It is all I can do to get out of bed and go to work! So, we usually go home, have dinner and then head to the gym around 8:00 at night.

    Accompanying me...or not?

I think it really does help to have someone with you. Like others have said, it helps with boredom. Additionally, I think it is comforting to know that in the rare event that an emergency should occur, there is someone there that can speak and act on your behalf.
  12. I have finally got past the burping issues, but I have a different embarassing problem. For me, my stop signal is a very loud, obnoxious sounding hiccup. My body doesn't care if I am at home, work or a very nice restaurant, when it reaches the point where it knows I have had enough food, out comes the loud hiccup. My family thinks it is hysterical and if we are in a restaurant, they think it is fun to mimmic me to draw attention away from me.

    Accompanying me...or not?

Like others have said, it is your choice. Although, if my spouse were having surgery and didn't want me along, I would be very hurt and worried sick about him. Has she had the opportunity to meet with the doctor and his staff to learn as much about the surgery as possible? If she hasn't, perhaps she should, then she might be more on board with what you are doing once she understands everything better.

    My story

Hi there, and welcome. Goodness, you are a beautiful girl and have achieved amazing results with the band. I had great results the first year I had mine. Then, like you, I started having problems. My surgeon was wonderful and we tried everything, but after two years of misery we both agreed that for whatever reason, my body had just developed an intolerance to the band. That is why I revised to the sleeve. I hope you are able to find success with your new doctor. It helps having one who cares and will actually listen to and talk with you to help resolve your issues. I am keeping my fingers crossed for your continued success with the band.

    Airlines/Nursing homes/ this and that

Daisy, I am so sorry, I am just now seeing this! Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your father. Be careful with Craig's List. It is a great resource, but there are also some real whackos on there. If you do have anyone come to look at the furniture, make sure you have someone there with you, preferably a man. It is better to be safe than sorry.
  16. Hi and welcome. Congratulations on your decision to get the band. Pain and recoop time are different for everyone. Have you had previous surgeries? Often, that is a good indicator of how you will recover. Most people need about a week of recovery time. The pain is manageable. The sorest part is from the port, which may be tender for several weeks. As for result speeds, again, that varies from person to person. The band is designed for you to lose approximately 1-2 pounds per week.

    Scared

Jackie, I know this can be scary. However, you just have to breath and take this one step at a time. See what they find out at the tests and then go from there. If you do end up having to have your band removed, then definitely look into alternatives, such as RNY or, my preference, the sleeve. Keep us posted and let us know what you find out. Hang in there, girl, we are here for you.
  20. Once all of us who are patients of Dr. Aceves get about a year out, we should plan a reunion in Mexicali to show him how he has changed our lives.
  21. That is great that you have found a way to cope with the problem, congratulations.

    Calling Vegasangel....

Vegas and Bob, I had a ton of problems with nausea while I was at the hospital as well. All I wanted to do was sleep, and when they made me get up to walk, usually I ended up vomiting. So, I feel for Bob 100%. The good news is, you do get past it. Daisy, go to Vegas' profile and you will find the album with the pictures there.

    Making Exercise a Habit

I belong to Bailey's gym, they are open 24/7 so that is really convenient for me. The great thing is, I also have my kids and hubby go with me, so it is a family thing for us to go and work out together. We were going to Anytime Fitness, but they were really small and didn't offer any classes, so we switched as soon as our contract was up.
