There is a restaraunt in Louisiana we used to go to that served baskets of fried pickles. Crisp and good. You brought back memories. I wouldn't eat one now though. Stelis2

Welcome and I wish you good luck getting your band soon. I am a selfpay who got banded 3-29-06. I use to live in St Augustine, Fl. so we were neighbors. Now I live in TX. Well, just be patient. It took awhile for me to get going. Stelis2

I was banded 3-29-06 so I am new too, I go to get my first fill May 3rd. I hope you are feeling good . Maybe it is my age--52, but I'm slow on the treadmill. I can only do 10 minutes. I guess it takes time. Good luck with your band. Stelis2

I say I would just ignore someone like that. Obviously she was there trying to find something to do. Stelis2

I'm having hunger pains too. I go in to the SurgiCenter the first week of May for my first fill, so maybe that will help but the loosing has been slow as I can't stick to 4oz. food. Walking on the treadmill though! Stelis2 I can't paste my ticker and when I type it in it doesn't work. Lisa Banded: 3-29-06 Weight: 241 lbs Starting: 250 lbs

Looking for fellow banders in the Baytown area
stelis2 replied to Kat1215's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Kat1215, I was not able to find out if there are any meetings going on for banders at SJM Hospital. No one seems to know. Let me know if you hear of anything. Stelis2 -
Walmart has Idahoan Instant Mashed Potatoes in Individual PKGS. Makes 2 Cups. Comes in Herb and Butter, 4 Cheese, and Southwestern Mash. I add Chicken Broth after I've made them and set aside what I want to eat so they are extra smooth. Enjoy! Stelis2

Boo, mix small instant mashed potato packet with water. Save most-- take 4-6 oz and mix with chicken broth. Yummy potato soup! Stelis2

Hi Carol, I'm about your age and was banded 3-29-06. I live in Texas. Just thought I would ask you, you seem to be doing wonderfully--are you sore? Stelis2

:clap2: Congratulations to all the newbies. I was banded on 3-29-06 and have lost my first 5 lbs. since. I go for a consultation and to have some stitches removed 4-10, and hope to get some info about caloric intake and quantity. Oh, I'm from Baytown, TX and anyone who wishes to chat, feel free. Lisa

Hi Elisabethsew, I'm 10 days post banded and you are not alone as I sleep flat on my back right now because I am too bruised and tender. Turns out my blood was thin so I turned pretty purple on the tummy. Use a pillow...it helped me for a short time today. Thanks for the protein tip. I don't always get enough. Stelis2

Kabeerah, I like my cottage cheese straight up but have also had a yummy mixture of spinach, garlic salt, and cottage cheese blended. Tastes kind of like avocado. Will be watching for more recipes myself. Stelis2

Jillia Hi! I too am on antidepressants. The surgury nor the the liquid diet added to depression. I was banded 3/29/06 and am doing fine with my emotions but am still somewhat sore. Back to the liquid diet, choices like broth, yogurt, and cottage cheese will help keep the medicine down just fine. Good Luck! Stelis2

Now I know what y'all mean by restriction!
stelis2 replied to Pam Tx's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Pam TX So proud of you! I've been banded 9 days, March 29th, and have only dropped 5 lbs. I'm on mushies too and limit my portions to 4 to 6 ozs. but have not lost as quickly as you. Any secrets? I drink water throughout the day. Keep up the good work!! Stelis2 -
Delarla, Maybe that is why I can't even role over on my side at night. I'm eating probably over 8 ozs. at times and this is just my 2nd week. Like you though, I hurt, hurt, hurt! Lisa

Hi Kat1215, My name is Lisa and I live in Baytown. I was banded 3-29-06 by Dr. Spivak also. I haven't researched the local support group, but feel certain my Primary Physician would know as she works with Lap Band fills and probably stays in touch with any schedulels concerning patients meetings. If I find out Monday, I will post back.
