Vegan pre-op LRD

I used tofu as my protein. -
I will be out of town tomorrow at a conference for a few days. When I applied for the conference I put vegan as my food preference. I am concerned I am going to get a lot of non cooked vegetables. I am really worried about food. I am in the soft food/puree stage. Yesterday we bought some food I thought I could bring with me. Smash it up and eat it. I tried some last night. I don't think I am ready for it. Yesterday was my first time eating at a restaraunt also, I did ok, I had Miso soup and oysters. I unbreaded the oysters, smashed them and I was ok. But the fish bites I bought, I tried last night. No... They were a no. Ideas on food I can bring with me, I leave tomorrow. I am bringing pre made shakes.

Soft food/Puree Out of Town
Blossoming1 replied to Blossoming1's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am going to try to eat a soft boiled egg today. I have not ate eggs in over 3 years. I get a little anxious eating foods I haven't ate in a long time. I don't want to upset my stomach. I need to hit my protein intake. Even though they are not exceptionally high in protein I am going to try. I doubt I will eat animal products in a few months but right now I think I am to lazy to get nutrition other ways. -
Soft food/Puree Out of Town

I have not tried the pouches, but I have tried the little cups of them. I only had one. I will look into it. Thank you both. That is a great suggestion. I am really trying to reach my protein intake daily. I have half of my protein shake gone and I started on it at 8am, its almost noon. -

Yeah!!!! Sounds like you are doing well. That is wonderful news! -
I had 1/2 protein shake, we went to a sushi restaurant 4 oysters smashed, miso soup serving, blended up another soup when home,4 fish bites smashed with popsicles through out the day i feel like its a lot now. I'm always trying to meet my protein goal popsicles dont hurt ever & I like them i think im struggling with my eating habits I am out of town at a conference next week. Im concerned because they asked me my eating preference and I said vegan. I'm worried about getting my protein. And having nothing to eat. only thing that hurt today was the fish bites
-
I wanted to list my experiences to see if others have the same and what they have done I have not experienced dumping yet. I often forget to not drink and eat at the same time. I was surprised I am ok. I am hungry often. Getting protein is a nonstop struggle.. I found out split pea soup has a lot of protein so I put it in a blender and eat it. Muscle milk, and protein shakes with fresh fruit. Protein shakes, if they are to thick, hurt me. I have ate vegan for three years. I am not super excited about not eating vegan. But, I feel in the first few weeks it is easier and I am ok with that. BUT I took a bite of scrambled eggs and it HURT. I am scared to try dairy because I have not had these things in over 3 years. Before surgery if I accidentally ate dairy, meat, etc it hurt my stomach. Has anyone had experiences with trying it after being vegan for awhile? I am moving to soft foods and I would like some ideas. I saw people eat oatmeal and potates and both are on my list of foods to avoid. Ideas? Please share your experiences with me.

Where's your pain? I only had pain right after surgery. The liver incision hurt me. Not the gas idk why I get pain from eating to much -
When I see pictures of what people eat. I eat a lot more then that. I probably have 10 sugar free popsicles a day, they never hurt my stomach and I like them. My servings are always small, very small, in fact most of the time I am eating with a baby spoon, to be cautious. If I take to big of bites, it hurts me. I am still doing soups, I tried refried beans yesterday, and protein shakes a million popsicles. To much food?
-
The split green pea soup he buys me has 39 g of protein. I have been blending it and eating small cups throughout the day. Will refried beans give me gas? I use unflavored protein powder in most things. I think its gross, but I still use it. I don't miss cheese, so I would be ok without cheese. I will look for more high protein soups. I am happy I posted that. I needed to hear that I need to be more gentle. I think I am experiencing head hunger and I dont like feeling out of energy. I can feel when my body needs nourishment. I am happy I read to take it easy and not rush. Those two bites of scrambled eggs hurt. So far, I have been following my plan. I miss eating food and I need to not swallow so fast and take smaller bites. I am learning and trying.

I work closely with Dr's and attorneys. Every day. I'm a counselor/social worker. The ones who need $ or clients advertise. It's exactly what I didn't want. I didn't want a fat farm. I wanted a Dr. The BEST do not advertise. They don't need to, and they have time to. Have you ever been to Mexico? Medical fields completely different. How we have malls, they have indoor "malls" with multiple businesses. I saw Elias ortiz while I was walking. He's inside the same building. I saw his facility. so I googled his name. I wanted a good Dr. Youll find his credentials and where hes worked. After talking to him I found out he trained in WA state. He's very intelligent and skilled. look for him away from wls. Youll find information. -

I apologize for not taking a lot of pictures at the facility, I was recovering and I slept alot. I did take videos for my family. I do have those. I posted pics of my hotel room after. And one of my room at the facility. It looks like a modern hospital room, smaller because it is a single and quieter. I just uploaded pics of my room at the facility, and hotel room. I can upload videos, but I need to listen to them first, I sent them to my family, so I dont know what I am saying on them.. I could be saying personal things or saying nothing important. I dont know IMG_0511.mov -

DR Mayortena or Dr Pablo Fok Russell?
Blossoming1 replied to Sigh's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I saw Dr Pablo Fok Russell. I was very particular about where I went and it took me a very long time to decide. I do not have one negative comment at all. .. .NONE. When researching for a clinic to get gastric sleeve I looked on Tik Tok, and online. I knew what I did not want. I did not want to go to a facility that only did weight loss surgery. I did not want to go to a "factory". I think at larger facilities that only do one thing, like weight loss surgery, you get complacent in how you work. And can become only about profit. I wanted a physician whose main concern was my health. When I came across Dr. Pablo Fok Russel what impressed me the most was his career was not only bariatric surgery. He is well versed and knowledgeable in all areas of anti aging, weight loss, hormone therapies, hair loss, stem cell therapy, plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, addiction medicine, etc. I was intentionally seeking a talented and intelligent doctor and I felt that I found one. I contacted the facility and had many emails with someone asking a multitude of questions. I never once felt pressured. i never once was told I had to put a deposit down to get answers. At other facilities I was told both. At other agencies I was pressured to put money down in order to speak to them. Money that was non refundable. Before I paid any money I was able to have the date I needed guaranteed. That was important to me also. I made my deposit, scheduled my date and prepared. When I arrived to San Diego my driver had contacted me the day prior with his picture and car information. He was waiting outside the airport for me. I was able to get off the plane, walk straight to him and was waiting at the car, I was inside the car in less than 5 minutes. It was effortless. We drove straight across the border, we were not stopped. We drove straight to the clinic. I was met by a woman with a big smile who opened my door and welcomed me by name. I was very impressed by this. I desired a personalized friendly environment and I was receiving it. Once inside to my pleasant surprise things were done quickly. I was given an EKG, blood work, x-rays, etc. The lab results from my blood test were back in less the 2 hours. Maybe even less. The anesthesiologist read them to me and I was impressed that they were received that quickly and accurate. In my first two hours, I meet the internal medicine physician, anesthesioligist, the X Ray technician, the nurses, and maybe more, because things moved quickly. I was SO happy that I was not just sitting around. I was in surgery that day. That evening was my most discomfort. I had two nurses that were very compassionate and kind to me. I was up all night long and they both were with me helping me. Helping me stand, walk, use the bathroom, etc. I was always with someone when I needed someone. The rest was very easy. I had an assortment of different nurses. Everyone responds different to surgery. I was tired and slept. My nurse Deigo would wake me to remind me to walk. It was not intrusive, and i was grateful. He was kind, polite and showed me compassion, his english was great. I was very thankful for him. All my nurses were good. Some stood out more then others. I liked Deigo because without him I would of slept all day and not done the things I needed to do. My night time nurses the first night, they deserved medals. Brenda and Clio were amazing. There was another, but I dont know his name. He was awesome! All were amazing!!! I have worked closely with Doctors in my profession. I am in behavioral health and I admire an intelligent, compassionate doctor with a good work ethic. And I found one. He was amazing. I am so impressed with his knowledge. And grateful that he shared some with me. In the United States as a patient, I do not get attention from Doctors. I only got their time as a co worker, never as a patient. Dr. Russel gave me attention as a patient and it was appreciated. And I learned a lot from him . I could not give a high enough rating and I am extremely impressed. -

The liquid diet i had while in the hospital wasn't bad. I know everyones bodies respond different. I slept. Other then when i got up to walk, shower & eat. I slept a lot. Im traveling home & eating is a struggle traveling. They packed me food to bring on my plane rides. They packed: water, jello, gatorades, apple juices & chicken broth to bring with me. I have not ate meat in over three years. The chicken broth was my best protein so I ate it. bothered me a little. but choose your battles. ill be home soon health is #1 priority. -

I had mine on 3/13. And it's not that bad. first 8 hours were the worst. And it's not that bad. -
I tried tagging my surgeon Dr Pablo Fok Russell. He's not in the list. Im currently waiting to be wheeled to surgery. I'm so far extremely impressed. I lost a lot more weight then expected on my pre-op diet. I was allowed salad with a protein choice, 13 almonds and protein shakes. Everyone is very friendly. I had an EKG, bloodwork & xray done as soon as I arrived. The bloodwork was back in an hour! I met everyone. I like everyone. Two women on my flight rode with me here. They are getting some sort of plastic surgery. One already had a facelift already. Looked good too! I liked riding with people who were familiar. The driver was really informative. Now I'm waiting to be wheeled back!

I took a few pictures . Only one of my room. I was taking videos. I didn't think of pictures until after I left. They are of my hotel. Absolutely gorgeous. Room service has my menu. Everything's set up for me. I have a picture of my driver & his car & license number for the morning ride to the airport.
