Do you have a December Date?

Hi December Bandsters! Hi Fran! Happy Anniversary Fran hehe. My folks live on the east coast in Florida. I live in North of Sacramento in Cal. So glad you are part of this group, by the way, guess we are buddy bandsters too! My new date is Dec. 10th and I am thankful for this date, (changes due to other circumstances) it is the 3rd one I have gotten, and the 3rd one is the charm! It is going to be a GREAT way to end the year of 2008 and start off 2009 to look fine with a great tool! So are you being banded in Florida? My surgery will be in South San Francisco, bout 2.5 hrs from home, which is Ok with me. Several Kaisers are closer if needed. My pre-op is November 25th, how about yours? So many questions, thoughts and emotions, so glad we have buddies in here to share them with! Have a healthy day of good choices!
  3. Miii! Are you around? Or a square...it's hip to be a square! hehe Message me, so we can chat...

Do you have a December Date?

Hi Goose! Say, wanna be band buddies...although on opposites sides of the country, we can compare notes! I am actually from New York, Long Island, and we visited Jersey alot when I was little. 'Little' so long ago,,,but soon to be again! I am excited for December, are you going thru a nesting stage like me? Just want everything to look nice (i.e. if any visitors when recuping). I am also so glad to be doing this when it is cooler, so I won't 'sweat' the recovery, literally! Nice to meet you, and all our December family of bandsters! My Pre-op is Nov. 25th (just before Thanksgiving to keep me in line, hehe). So name suggestions are.... Winter Wonders Holiday Belles (if no guys) December Stars Holiday Hotties December Degrees Dec. Degrees into Holiday Hotties (hehehe - I know too long) Thanks to our leader Joann Marie for starting us off! P.S. I go to chat several nites a week, usually bout 9:00 PST, but can go earlier.

Hi to all Bandster Bros & Sis... Just have a new date for surgery, Dec. 10th, bout 7 weeks away. Seen that JoannMarie is also December! The change came when we found that our church is doing a benefit concert (Nov. 19th) for our Missions Team next year...with Margaret Becker and Russ Taff! So, prayed and it has all worked out, with a new date! Hope to meet more sisters getting banded round this time, to walk with JoannMarie & Clempier thru this process and move forward like our forerunners, Phyllser, Brenda, Susan and more! Have a healthy day of blessed choices! He is our refuge!

Do you have a December Date?

Hi to all December Bandsters! Glad to meet you all, I just had an official change of date to...December 10th! Looking forward to it, have been on this journey for just a year... I believe making this change right at the end of the year is a great way to end 2008 and ready to move on to a healthier & better body in 2009! I have Kaiser, and am going thru SSF in Northern California. Looking forward to getting to know you all, JoannMarie (patience of a saint!) Carol, Kathy, Tas, Goose, Fstop and Nina. Hopefully more will be joining us, but I wonder if Dec is not a first choice month as around the holidays? Are we brave and/or moving on with our time as now? I looked up the word Degree and would like to suggest December Degrees, degree = a step, i.e. of a threshold or stair, a standing or stage in a career or position. Or is it to boring? Just liked the December month and how we are taking a major step this month! So am just trying it out...Have a healthy day of good choices!

Thank you Phyllser for your encouragement! My surgery date has changed from Nov. 12th to the 19th, which is a week before Thanksgiving. Figure this better, because still healing and not hungry as of yet? The Lord has His timing for our lives, so I believe it will go well for the November Bandster Babies! And, thank you for the inspiration YOU are! :smile2:

Hope u are doing well in the process, so are u closer to Santa Rosa? I will be having surgery in SSF next month, and live north of Sac/Roseville area. Have a good day!

Hi Clempier, I am not banded yet, but have surgery date of Nov. 12th! I have been 'diabetic' for a year, and only on Metformin. But I have heard of some who have been, and they are doing so much better! Welcome to the board, there are a few veterans here, which I have also learned, and gleaned encouragement from as well as good practical advice. Have a blessed day of healthy choices! Hi again Minxz (sorry for sp last post) That is great, you are on your way, the nutrionist, she give you a Pre-op Plan for food? That will really help with the 10% and prepare well for the surgery. Sounds like you may be south then, SJ? Perhaps we will meet up there someday! So you can try to call and ask for appt with Med Dir., also for Nurse Susan as case manager, also, I would always ask for appts (if possible) together so I could not spend as much on gas. Just suggestions to possibly help it to be a little smoother for you. Would enjoy hearing your updates and any other questions! Reading the book through, thoroughly, really helps, I did at first, and now again in prep for surgery, still learning so much! Other books I have & still reading...Khaliah Ali's book (Fighting Weight), one by Sewell/Rohrborough, and going to get Phat Finish by Hathaway. Also the Mindful Eating class (after Pscyh appt) is really helpful. Will chat again! Roseyyyd1

Hi Minxs...what a great picture! Yes, they have, and when they record your weight each time, it goes onto a graph, that Dr. Alami showed me on my first surgeon appt. So it shows any consistency in losing, also the ups and downs. So you are going thru SSF? Is that where you are? My case manager (nurse) is Susan D. and she is great! On a trip down there, I combined (emailed her & asked) an appt with her with a class after it. It was so helpful, just going thru the process and questions and anything you can think of with her! Calling the appt number, and just asking (nicely) if there are any appts available of what your next one is, helps. Which is why I asked, if you are local to there..because a short notice of an appt available, would work, if you don't have to drive 2 hrs to get there (like me!) Not to get your hopes up, but sometimes you can call or talk to someone at just the right time. They really try hard and work with those who are committed to the program, motivated to do what it takes, but not just fastrack for surgery. Hope this helps, are u are having a blessed day, has the rain hit there yet? Roseyyyd1

    Kaiser Permanente Insurance

Hi Kaiser Ladies! I also have Kaiser, going thru SSFrancisco, I live north of Sac/Roseville. Have been going thru the process for about a year now, and have a surgery date...Nov. 12th! I am excited yet, still studying, and working to prepare well before, as well as for after. So I am not there yet, but, I have been sleeping with a CPAP for several years. It really has made a difference, and boy do I deep dream sleep sometimes! Just a thought tho, realizing it is not the just the quality of sleep, although you def have more rems with the CPAP, ultra important, but also the quantity. I used to think 5-6 hrs was sufficient, but, read and have now seen the difference...that how important the 7-8 hours are, simply because our bodies release a certain hormone that actually causes the body to burn the fat more effectively, if not enough (or deep enough) sleep, our bodies won't let go of the weight. Hope this helps, and I wish each of you success on this journey! I also enjoy reading your stories and great posts! Have a blessed day of healthy choices! Roseyyyd1:redface:
  19. I saw Katja, I saw Katja!!! You are lookin good woman! You really need to be so proud of yourself, and know you are an inspiration for so many others! Hugs to you, one hot german mama! SY in chat!

    Anyone From Sacramento?

Hi MomCof3! I am north of Roseville/Sac, but would enjoy a bandsters support, if possible the middle of Sac? Not sure of any yet, I go to a Kaiser one off of Arden (off Bus 80) which also has mixed patients. Would enjoy getting in touch and seeing what may happen? To post a new thread, if want to do it under California Local Lap-Band Support, type in that forum, then right above it on the left there is a button that says "New Thread", click on it and post! Be great to start a new one just for live local support group. Let me know if you need help, I can be your North Buddy Bandster! Have a blessed day, Roseyyyd1 P.S. Congrats on your Success, would enjoy hearing your story, am scheduled (thru Kaiser) to become a bandster in November.

Welcome Riley! Nor Cal as in California? Yep and Kaiser too! Where are you going to classes? 14 weeks, have you attended Orientation yet? What is next appt? Have been going thru the journey for awhile now. PM me when you can, would like to help. Have a blessed eve!
  24. Hi gmp72, Good for you taking care of yourself, in the midst of a full life! I am also learning how important this is. I have been on this journey for a bout a year now, realizing how I need to really take care of business if I want to live out life...alive, and enjoying my family, growing, marrying, grandchildren, the list goes on! For me, my med insurance required many appts and classes throughout this time along with weight loss and studying/understand the protocol for before and i.e. after surgery. A few books I enjoyed were...Khaliah Ali, Fighting Weight (boxer M. Ali's daughter, a single mom and Banded!), also, Colleen Cook's, Successful Habits of Weight Loss Surgery Patients, the team they are and work with to really help people make a difference!, and Weight Loss Surgery w/ the AGB, Sewell/Rohrbough. I found these to be helpful, insightful and continued references. Hope this helps! :bolt:

A November Date! Hi Sisters of Surgery (SOS), I like to make up abbrev. My surgery date is Nov. 12th, and am working on well to prepare for it. I have been reading this thread from the beginning and been so encouraged by the posts. Looking forward to participating and gaining insight from the forerunners! Your kindness and suggestions truly help others. Would like to hear some more of your stories, like Brenda in S.C., Long to Be Thin, and Phylser, yours is amazing! Also to stand with JoannMarie, Marilyn and Melody Mary and i.e. AnnE! I just found a good book, (with others I am reading).. Spiritual Secrets to Weight Loss by Kara Davis, a 50 Day Renewal, seems so far balanced, encouraging and even suggests with an accountable partner! I have bout 50 days, so I thought this will be cool to do with my support sister at home. Have a Healthy Day of Choices!:bolt:
