Sounds Good to me! I went for a fill today and was bummed to see that I have regained 6lbs during the holidays! Which puts me under the original 50lb mark! UGH! So I started the liquids today as always after a fill, but I am game to try the 1-2week liquid jump start! I really want to get these last 30lbs off by my 40th bday which is in September! Good Luck to both of us!

obtech89117 replied to MrsShannonDennis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
:smile2::thumbup:Hello! I am also a cash patient, however I get one year of fills and office visits included in the price! After that, I will have to pay $75 for office and if I need a fill, then it is $150. Good Luck in your new band life! I Love it! -
what were u eating 3-4 weeks post op?
obtech89117 replied to charlimc's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello! I was on liquids for 3 weeks, then I progressed to yogurt, cream of wheat and lots of soups! I then started adding salads and chicken. I am 10 months out post-op and pretty much still eat alot of soups. I try to make them homemade and then blend them into a thicker consistency. I also do alot of chili and beans. If I go out I usually just order an appetizer or I share with my hubby. My favorite snack is kettle popcorn. My best advice is to always eat slow and chew chew chew! If I get overly hungry and dont go slow, that is when I run into trouble. I also wait 30-45 min. to drink after a meal, it can be pretty scary and painful if not! Best of luck to you in your new lapband journey! -

Good luck to all of us BANDSTERS! -
March... our 6 month bandiversary... where are we now?
obtech89117 replied to terilynn112's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on 9/12/08 and so far I am down 36lbs! I have gone down from a size 16 to a size 12, however my pysche still feels like a size 16. I rewarded:thumbup: myself with a personal trainer for christmas and try to go to the gym 3-4 times a week. I feel that the exercise has definitely made a huge difference in my body shape! I hope we all continue on our path to success and we will catch up on our 1year bandiversary! Good Luck to All! -
Dr. Atkinson & Dr. Soong
obtech89117 replied to CJRUBIO29's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had Dr. Soong do my surgery back in Sept of 08! I am very pleased with my decision to have him be my doctor. I loved the fact that he gave me his email and was available to answer all of my questions in those first few days after. He was very encouraging and would respond within 24 hours! Good Luck to you in your decision and your journey! -
Hello! I was also banded by Dr. Soong, last year 9/12/08! I can't believe 6 months have allready gone by! I have lost 34lbs so far! 46 more to go! How are you feeling? This website has been really instrumental for me. Make sure whatever you do, listen to your Doctor and make sure you dont eat until you are told you can do so. I know I was on liquids for 2.5 weeks and then I gradually proceeded. Did Dr. Soong give you his email? He is really good about answering any question you might have pretty quick! Once again I wish you the best and welcome to bandlife! OBtech 89117:thumbup:

Lap Band, Sept 08..??
obtech89117 replied to amandabrown's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
:thumbup:Hello to you all! I was banded on Sept 12,2008. I am currently down 31lbs. I too wish it were faster, but as someone stated before, atleast it's not coming back. I gave myself a personal trainer for christmas, and have faithfully been going to the gym 3 x per week. I can definitely tell when I try on old clothes, but sometimes I just can't see it. I have become overly obsessed with weighing myself! UGH! I hope you all continue in your success and that by Sept. 09 we will be all a little closer to our goals! Good Luck! ObTech:wink2: -

October Get Together! 10/25/08
obtech89117 replied to FeliciaLevy75's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello, I would love to join you all for dinner. I was banded by Dr. Soong and Dr. Atkinson on 9/12/08. I will check my schedule and see if I can make it. I will make sure and rsvp if I can! Hope to meet you all someday soon! p.s.- Hi HootieBelle! xoxoxoxox -
Hi, I too had a BMI of 36. I am 5'5 and was 220. Just like you I did not have any health related issues, but plenty of emotional issues. I have been struggling for the last 15 years with my weight gain. I struggled with endometriosis and therefore was on tons of hormones and several surgeries to have children. Fast forward to 2004 I had to have my uterus removed. This past march I once again had surgery to remove my ovaries. Thus hormones again. From March to September I put on 22 more pounds, putting me at my all time high of 220. My husbands insurance offers no WLS coverage, and my insurance said I wasn't heavy enough. I also looked into the Mexico thing, but when I seriously thought it over, the fear and the thought of not having my Dr. in town quickly changed my mind. I decided to go to a seminar in my town and within 4 weeks I was on the O.R. table having my band put in. Now as far as costs, I decided to apply for care credit and was approved within 60 seconds online. My surgery cost me 15,500, this includes preop, postop, and fills for one year. Now don't get me wrong, I am in no way not condoning going abroad for surgery, however when I went to the seminar, the surgeon clearly stated that he would not touch any patient who went abroad for a band placement due to liability issues. I have also heard of Dr.s in the states charging up to 3,000 to become your postop doc here in the states. Thats when it became clear to me, that it truly was not worth it for me. As far as the band is concerned I could not be happier. This has been the best decision in my life. I have lost 17lbs since 9/12/08 and am looking forward for my first fill so that I can continue going downwards on the scale! I wish you the best of luck in your decision, and may you also become a bandster very soon! ObTech 89117

I am 17 days post-op, and was wondering about the whole fill thing? I do good on soups and jello and yogurt. Today was my first day on soft foods and I can't seem to get more than 2oz in before I am stuffed? Is this normal? Is it because I am still in the healing phase? I am scheduled for my fill on 10/22/08, should I wait and see if I continue with enough restriction or should I go ahead? I definitely don't want to be too tight. Help Please and Thank You!

EffexorXR 150mg
obtech89117 replied to Mimilou2004's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 9/12/08. I also take effexor 75mg XR . My doctor told me that any capsule or coated caplet could be taken without a problem. I took my meds on the second day postop and have not had a problem. Have you asked your Dr. about opening up the capsule, because I was told not to,since it is an extended release med. I wish you the best of luck! -
I started out at 218.9. I had my surgery on 9/12 and am down 14.1lbs. I am 5'5 and also carry my weight evenly as well. After 3 babies and 15 years of struggling, I decided to make a change in my life. I am looking forward to no longer being in the 200's! Onederland here we come! Good luck to all!

When did you get your 1st fill?
obtech89117 replied to LB4Life's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was banded on 9/12 and I will have my first fill Oct.20th. 5 weeks postop! So far so good, I am just anxious to see how I will feel after the first fill? -
I was banded on 9/12 and my Dr. also said no to bread. And quite honestly I am afraid to even try it. But you say that toast is okay? Hmm, maybe I will ask him if eventually I can have it.

I don't know where to begin :(
obtech89117 replied to taximomof4's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
First off, I was cash pay, so they gave me the choice. And to be honest I chose the surgery center because it was on a friday as opposed to the hospital on a monday. I was not put on a preop diet. Today was my first postop visit, I am down 14lbs!!!!!! One more week of the full liquid diet and then one week of mushy foods and then on to the real stuff! I am so incredibly excited this time (dieting wise) because all the other times I have worked so hard and yes I might lose 20 but, that means practically starving to death and exercising my life away. This is much more tolerable and I can handle the food situation. I honestly thing if your mind set is in the right place you will definitely succeed at this! TTYS! -
Yeah mushy! I get to start mine on the 29th. After one week on mushies then on to the real stuff! Today was my first postop visit, and I'm down 14lbs!!!!! I will have my first fill on Oct.20th! I am soooooo happy that I had this surgery. No more YOYO for me! Good luck to all!

I don't know where to begin :(
obtech89117 replied to taximomof4's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am very happy! Dr. Soong was the Primary Surgeon and Dr. Atkinson assisted him. They both have a great support system. I had my surgery at Las Vegas Regional Surgery Center. It was outpatient. That night Dr. Soong sent me an email with his email address so that if I had any nonemergent questions I could email him. I did on my third day post op and he responded to me within the hour. It is very comforting to know that he is really there for me! They are both excellent Dr's. Their staff and PA's are also very wonderful. I am very glad that I chose this group to do my surgery. Who are you planning on? Best of Luck in your new Journey to a thinner you! -
Congratulations! You are an inspiration to all! I can't wait til I am in your same shoes. This so far has been the best decision I have ever made as well, and I am only 9 days postop. I am looking forward to my success as well! Keep up the good work! God Bless.
