Has anyone had problems with their gag reflex? I hate to be gross, but I need to know if I have a problem. I ate one bite of a corn casserole and it really make me gag (I got choked on a kernal of corn. After that it burned like heck where my port was and now it feels like it might have moved? Should I be concerned? That was on Wednesday and it's still tender today. Please tell me what you think. I don't go back for my 2nd fill until Oct. 20th. Thanks.

I'm so glad I found this July Thread. It's also nice to know there are people out their near my age (59 in June). I got my band on July 24th. I had no problems after the surgery. The protein drinks were ucky, but I made it through it. It's nice to have real food once again. Dr. Livingston at UT Southwestern in Dallas did my surgery. I had my first doctor visit on Monday and they did my surgery the following Thursday. I don't know why I got to skip all the pre-op stuff. I feel I missed a lot of useful info I should have had, but I was glad I got it done so fast. I've lost 25lbs. so far and had my 1st fill on Sept. 15. My band already had 2cc and they just added .6. I sometimes feel I get food stuck in my throat, I try to chew everything to mush, but sometimes it really hurts. It doesn't happen often but when it does it hurts like heck. Any suggestions? Good luck to all July banders out there.

The location of our church is 124 N. Carlisle St. across from Slaughter. Tuesday or Thursday would probably be the best days. Anytime will probably be good, say 6:30 to 8:30. How many days a month are we talking about? -

I am interested in a support group meeting in McKinney. We can use our church if we need a place and the time is right. I'm the church secretary, so I have our schedules. Are you already meeting someplace. I need all the help I can get. A lady from Denison contacted me and wants to meet too. The sooner the better. -

I just got banded on July 24, 2008 and would love to have some local support. I live in Princeton, just down the road. There are support groups at UTSouthwestern where I had surgery but that's to far to drive and it's at night in Dallas. Uck! -

I'm new to this chat stuff, so I may need all the help I can get. I had my surgery on July 24, 2008. I'm a little disappointed because I have only lost 19 lbs. so far. I've seen several banders that have had surgery since I have and have lost lots more weight. Am I doing something wrong? I feel good and have been riding my bike but the weight isn't coming off. My doctor wasn't real clear on what to eat except to avoid non-starchy veggies and avoid potatoes. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.
