Hope everyone has had a great summer. It sure has been hot in Texas. It's hard to believe it's been 3 years since by lap-band. Some of you were talking about BMI, those are only words. I may never be in the normal rance but I've lost 117# and feel great. I'm 62 years old and have faced the fact, if I got down to where I had a normal BMI, I would look like a walking corpse because I'm so short. My lap-band doctor is very pleased with my loss and said that only about 68% of the people who are banded reach their goal. I have a 10 lb. range I allow myself and have stayed in that range for a year and a half. Life is good and God has blessed me with a wonderful life. Good luck to all of you.

:wink2: Hi Guys, I haven't checked in for some time. I finally had my back surgery and it's so much better. I did gain 12 lbs. in the hospital and haven't lost it all yet. Can't exercise yet but that will come soon, I hope. Have to start being more careful what I eat. Since I've been out of the hospital - 4 weeks now - I've been as hungry as a bear. Reading what everyone has to say sure helps. My computer crashed a couple weeks ago, so that threw me off. 23 bugs on my husbands e-mails. I think I need to get him his own computer, so if he messes it up I still have mine. Sounds like every one is doing pretty good. I did go on a shopping spree this week. Clothes are made strange these days. Depending on what I bought and where it came from I went from a 12 to an 18. Go figure. Hope everyone has a great week. Quilting Bee

Hi everybody! Hope you are all doing okay this summer. I got good news from my primary care doctor this morning. I went in for a six month check to see if I needed any meds changed. My blood pressure was 116/64. It hasn't been that good since I was in my 30's. My cholesterol was 147. A couple months before I was banded, it was completely off the chart, they couldn't get a reading. My bad cholesterol this time was only 64 (should be less than 100). Needless to say this band has worked for me. Some of you were talking about how slow you've been losing, I've lost most of my weight this first year and because I can't exercise like I should the skin on my legs and arms looks like an elephants with skin sagging. Losing the weight fast is nice, but it's got its drawbacks too. Keep going folks, you have the rest of your lives to lose this weight. We're heading for San Antonio, Tx tomorrow to set up at a Gun and Knife Show. A real test for me is to stay away from the River Walk and the Mexican food places. My real down-fall. Have a great week and God bless everyone and hang in there.

 Hi Gang! Only 3 more days until my bandiversary. Hurray! I'm so pleased with my loss. I haven't lost it all, but the doctor says when I have my back surgery, the rest will go too. My back doctor and my band doctor both told me to drink plenty of protein drinks because I probably won't want to eat. I'm going through more prep for my back than I did for my band or when I had knee replacement. I'm going in rehab for 10 days after surgery, so I won't be able to keep up with everyone. Hope we all stay on track. It's really amazing what everyone has done. We all lose at such different speeds, it's interesting to read how everyone is doing. Happy Anniversary to all my band friends, your support has helped me more than I can say. Thanks, and keep going.

Hi Guys, :frown: Sounds like most of us are doing pretty good. I had .15 cc's put in last week. I'm up to 4.0 cc's right now. My doctor takes it very slow and I think I've done pretty good. I only have about 20 more lbs. to go and have lost nearly 80. I still have until the 26th for by bandversity. We just celebrated our 41st wedding anniversary today. The doctor thought walking in a pool would be good to help build up the muscles in my back before surgery, so we bought an above ground pool for our anniversary. Can't wait for a nip and tuck, me in a swim suit is not a pretty sight. I'm glad I live in the country where only the neighbors cows and horses can see me. Hang in there kids. We're going to make it. Have a great one!

Congrats to all you bandiversary folks out there. I'm not until the 26th. Doesn't it feel good to have lost all the weight we have? I got a .25 fill last Tuesday. I can already tell I'm not eating as much. Had a quarter of a hamburger on ww bun for dinner and 5 or 6 zucchini fries. Filled me to the brim. It is so much fun to buy smaller clothes. My feet have even gotten smaller. Went from a 7w to a 6 or 6 1/2med. Have a great Independence Day. God Bless America!

Hey Texas, You have done great on your weight loss. don't be ashamed you got banded. I have told all my friends and they are so supportive. If we go out and eat, someone would love to split a meal with me or if I order a full meal, ask for a take-home box when you meal comes and box up all but what you think you'll eat and set it on the floor beside your purse (out of sight - out of mind). If you don't want it, give it to a friend or take it home for an elderly neighbor that doesn't get out often believe me they will appreciate it. Hang in there. You're on the downhill ride.

I have only had 5 fills and only 1/2 cc at the most each time. How much are they giving you at a time? I had 2cc put in when I first had my band installed, so I still have less than 5cc. Do they make you drink water before you leave to make sure you can keep it down? I sure hope they can solve your problem. I will pray for you. Good luck!

221 lbs lost butterflies + 52 lbs lost 1day at a time + 76 = 349 total  Keep those lbs. dropping off kids!

It won't be long before our magic month. I was hoping I would have all my weight off by my surgery date, but it looks like that's not going to happen. Had to have a heart cath Tuesday to prepare for my back surgery in August. I had a chemical stress test done the week before. Thought I had a 500 lb. gorilla jumping on my chest. It showed bad blood flow in one of the arteries but after the heart cath, the doctor is going to treat it with meds. I'm so glad I didn't have to have a stent or angioplasty. The Good Lord was sure looking after me. I go for another fill in a couple weeks, I sure need it. I didn't get one last time. I could eat a barn door, it could possibly be alot of stress eating with all that's been going on. Take care girls and have a good week. WE WILL MAKE OUR GOAL!

It sounds like we're in the same boat. I had a housefull yesterday for Sunday lunch and make brisket and 7 layer bars. I should never make anything I like to eat. My problem is I like everything and love to cook. Tomorrow is a new day, and I send most of the leftovers home with my kids (even the bars). Hang in there, we'll make it.

To Mamanmidwife, You have done great girl. My last 25 lbs. is the hardest. Hang in there. We'll make it.

Hi Guys, It sounds like just about all of us are in the same boat about our weight stalling. My husband had a bad report on his diabetes and kidneys, so he has gone on a protein and veggie only diet and I'm doing it too. I guess that's what I needed to kick start me again, because I only have a little over 20 lbs. to go to meet my goal. I can't get in until June 30th for another fill. I feel like I need a small amount because I could eat a barn door, but at least it's coming off again. I know I'm not going to make it within a year, but I hope to be close. I have back surgery scheduled for August 31st, but the doctor says it won't affect my band. I just hope I can reach my goal by then. Hang in there everybody, it will come in good time. Orea - good luck on your hubbies job, you're in my prayers. Ya'll have a good night.

:tt2: Hi everybody. It's been quite awhile since I've written. Been having a terrible time updating my tickler, but I think I finally have it. I guess I've been like everyone else about having a sweet tooth. I've tried to only eat the SF stuff but I know that's still not good for you. Maybe it's the weather change or the time of year. It could be we are just getting bored with our eating change. I have decided to start a journal on Monday (Mother's Day is going to blow it). My sweet husband always cooks me steak and lobster. What a guy! I guess I'm like many of you with the bat wings. Thank goodness for three-quarter sleeves. I wish I could exercise more. I have a vertebrate in my lower back that is sideways. Hurts most of the time, so most exercise is out. I went to physical therapy and it nearly killed me. I see my back surgeon next week. Oh joy! Well hang in there guys, we've come to far to backout now. Hope every mom out there has a great day!

Good for you Orea.:thumbup::thumbup: You inspire me. I had a fill today. Only .3cc. My doctor is very conserative. His PA quite and the doctor gave me my fill. I thought he was going to kill me. Worse on I've ever had. I've lost 60 lbs. so far but can't get my tickler to change. I must be doing something wrong. I'm waiting for another 10 to 15 lbs. before I go on a shopping trip. I'm between a 14 and 16 and nothing fits just right.

Hope everyone had a great holiday. New Year's eve day I made it over the big hump and now I'm half way there. I was so excited. Christmas was hard, we make cookie trays for the neighbors and my sons always want candy. I cheated a couple times but rode the wheels of my recumbent bike. It feels so good to be half way there and all since July. I just wish I could see that thinner person when I look in the mirror. I've forgotten what the thinner me looks like. Hope everybody has a great day. Bee

I guys. I don't post often but I read your notes every couple of days and have really found support with you. I wish I could loose in by butt. I've gone down from a 26 to a 16 pants size but when I look in the mirror I still see my big rear. I've seen it big for 15-20 years so I guess my mind hasn't caught up with my weight loss. :rolleyes2:

Your eating plan sounds good to me. I know I am eating to much, but after this last fill I am hungry most of the time. My scales moves up and down every couple days. I'm getting pretty depressed about it. I don't go for another fill until December 5th. I may see if I can go in earlier, the holidays scare me. I love all the holiday goodies. Got to get this weight off to help take care of my new grand-daughter (born Nov. 12 - 6.99 lbs. 19 1/4" long). I didn't know being a grandmother could be so much fun.

Calling all McKinney, TX Bandsters

Debbie, Tomorrow is your big day. I'm tickled for you. Keep positive thoughts, this is going to be the start of a new you. My surgery was fine, very little after pain. I was up walking in a few hours and home the next afternoon. I have back issues and have been taking pain management shots and I feel better than I have in decades. Just the 40+ lbs. I've lost so far has made a world of difference. Constitapation was the only problem I had and but once I started eating more veggies things got better. If you have problems don't hesisate to call your doctor, that's what they get paid the big bucks for. Next time we chat you'll be banded. Good Luck. -

Debbie, I'm so excited for you. This is the beginning of a whole new you. My lap-band is the best thing I have done. You'll get tired of all the protein drinks, I never thought I would miss chewing something so much, but it is well worth it. I've lost 41 lbs. in the 3 months since I was banded on July 24, 2008, and I feel better than I have felt in years. Whatever you do, follow your doctors instructions on what to eat. All doctors give different directions, make sure you do what yours says. I've has 2 fills and they aren't bad at all. You can do this. One of my greatest joys is to see how my clothes swollow me now. The first few weeks are tough, but you can handle it. Best of luck to you. I'll pray for you. -
Hi all you Butterflies, I just had my second fill on Tuesday and was thrilled:thumbup:. Lost 42 lbs. since July 24. I have a 10cc band with 2cc on surgery, .6cc on first fill and .5cc on this fill. I know I haven't reached my "sweet spot" yet but I know I'm not eating nearly as much. I read your comments every couple of days and you really give me the support I need. We're all in the same boat, we need to lose weight and this sure beats the heck out of WW. Thanks for all your positive comments and good luck to everyone. I plan to break the big 200 in the next three weeks. Wish me luck. Good luck to everyone and have a great week.

Bread does the same thing to me. I love bread and love to make it. I think those days are over. I guess it's just part of our new learning process. I can give it up if it will help me reach my goal. Good luck.

I know what you're talking about in losing in the boobs. I shopped for a bra yesterday. Depressing. A "B" cup is to small and a "C" cup puckers. What's a girl to do? I haven't lost as much in my rear as I hoped I would, but heck, it's only been since July 24th and it took me years to get this way. Haven't been able to exercise like I should, the last vertebra in my back is side ways and causes pain in the nerves in my back & legs. It's better than before I had LB but I'm going for a pain shot tomorrow. We just need to hang in there.
