  1. Hi, i joined a sport club- open 24/7 . try to go for strength training 2 x/week, 2-3 X/week walk an indoor route at work (can do 1 mile in about 15 minutes). I'm not fast but I am getting better!! I want to do more, like swim, but knees and other health issues seem to get in the way. Plan to join a yoga/Pilates group in Feb at the club - for core strength training.

    Non-Scale Victories Thread

tonyisstillhere, congrats, i too spent yesterday cleaning out the Fat Fat clothes,.and pulling clothes i haven't worn in years out. Isn't it fun!! like shopping without spending money!! have gone down 4 sizes in Jeans ( 34 to 28) and they're still kind of loose. the doctor cut my BP meds in half. and it, too, is still on the low side of normal. After years of yoyoing- am having second thoughts on giving the too big clothes away- anyone else ?
  3. I missed this group- is it too late to join? Weighed 271 at New Year's. and lost only 2# in Jan

Do you have a December Date?

2b-banded, Don't goive up. You are alsomst there only 2 more weeks!! remember warm socks. you won't feel like bending over , so have a helper or one of those grabber tools if you drop something. And stay ahead of the pain - use the meds to stay comfortable. It is a lot weasier to stay on top of the pain than to try to reduce it . Let us know how you are doing !!
  7. Simone, I 'm in the same boat. Could eat not quite 1 1/2 cups and be too full. Finally got a fill today- on clear liquids for 24 hours. 9 bummer) am making chiken soup and it smells soooo good!
  8. I'm with Florida Pete, Both methods help. I have gotten a lot of support on-line , anytime I tried. But the Support group in real life re- energizes me. i get to see others struggle through the same issues here, where I live. We hear speakers talk about methods i really hadn't considered ( i.e. an OT spoke about muscle stretching and warming up 0 It is all non-judgmental. went Tues nite and went out for supper later with 3 others. What fun and we all carried home doggie bags We laughed about our families, and talked abut real issues that lead to our over eating. i am willing to seek any support i can get. I cannot sit at the PC and do this all this e time. One thing I realize from all this is how isolated I have allowed myself to be. I have to reach out and go out.

Scared little (okay, not so little) newbie.

smartwencrazy, I'm only 2 months out and anxiety is NORMAL. I was in tears 1 week prior to surgery when at a WLS group. It is fear of the unknown. LBS will work. Restlessmonkey stated it perfectly. I know someone at work w/ the same surgery and a hernia repair to boot. Her stomach is smaller, even 6 weeks after. When you recover from the surgery, You will be able to find it, but no one will be able to see a lump or bump.
  10. I MADE IT !!!!!!!! 1st) had my 1st fill once the insurance was straightened out 2nd) when I went to outpatient today for the fill, I'm at 261!!!:tt1:Will keep on Keeping on

Do you have a December Date?

Hi All, Just finall had my 1st fill today- really easy! ( Dealing with the new insurance Co was harder. Plus, I'm down 29# since the surgery!! Hope everyone is doing well.
  12. Hi, It is motivating but I am stuck and the insurance company is stalling on covering the fills- ( Had to switch companies at work ) anyway- after 3+ weeks of excuses, got on the phone Friday and started calling the Dept of insurance- I get my fills covered and the 1st one is Wed. I am at 269 today so have 8 # to lose - still:crying:
  13. Am Down 7# , need a fill but insurance ( new company) is dragging their feet as they didn't authorize the surgery. am halfway to my goal , and at least haven't gained:thumbup:

Do you have a December Date?

Joann Marie, Thanks, I was using thickened soups ( milk based) ff yogurts, etc ;not empty calories. But find i can consume more than 1 c. Also found I can eat things like a cookie, a donut hole and am not stopping at one ... - I am reverting to my old habits and have no restrictions. Am a mess. Tried not cooking to stay away from food but then there are only carb loaded foods around when I need to eat... Will start cooking again and freeze items- Will try cheese and focus on protein again..
  16. yarddawg 72, I agree. Cannot thank God and the Doctors to get me this far. It is up to me, to continue. the Word Spread fast where i work and some have asked about it. My Dh was the least knowledgeable ( he needs one too) and expected problems but there were none. Maybe someday, he'll get tired of being left behind.

Do you have a December Date?

Hi all, Anyone else waiting for their 1st Fill? My insurance changed since the surgery ajnd the new Co has to reauthorize the whole thing!!! :mad3:Have lost 21 # since surgery but it is so easy to eat too much w/o the fill and I've plateau'ed. I try to fill up on liquids but am concerned if it is posible to stretch the pouch .. anyone know ??
  18. The nosey people find out anyway. The ones who struggle with the same problems need to know others have done it . rude people don't deserve a response:cool2:

Do you have a December Date?

Joann, Congratw!! you are doing well. everyone runs into a snafu somewhere..
  20. YES!!! I lost 2 more ### am down 7 # since the start !!1 Finnally
  21. Every situation is different. the snide comments come no matter what. Once , pre WLS I lost many # s and was still 50 # overweight. and some peer was concerned I was losing too much weight!! The doom and gloom sayers- the ones who say you don't want it bad enough - haven't been there. Have one coworker who has lost over #100l and has 30 # to go ( for the last several months) She tells everyone to do it here way ( BTW, she ate a whole fruitcake at Christmas so it'll come back.)

Vickie, Congrats !! and thanks for the heads up Carbonated stuff doesn't tempt me but have been close to too full. it gets better each day. i am just getting close to pre surgery strenght training levels and times.
  23. All, I told everyone. Ran into a co-worker who showed up at the local support group but she doesn't want anyone to know 9 but that area seems to spread facts and rumors far and wide) ... Well, I let folks know- if it comes up- work with nurses and get asked all the time. My Bro's in-laws, my cousin , and another co-worker are thinking about it..They are curious how it is going.. So far so good. But have to wait for insurance paperwork to get my 1st fill - which kind of slows down the momentum...
  24. skyjoe, Congrats. Afraid i am stuck. Lost 3 # since started the challenge but have changed insurance Companies and have to wait for the authorization to get my 1st fill. Am just trying not to over eat in quantity
