Non-Scale Victories Thread
sue in ne replied to EmeraldCoastPhotog's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi All, these Non Scale victories are better than the scale victories. Went to the local WLS group Tues nite. they showed us exercises with stretch bands. The PA said these were for beginners, in the 6 months post surgery. i did them all w/o a problem. Need to ramp up my exercises; they're too easy ( Did I really say that !):smile2: -

Negitive Feedback from Gastric bypass patient.

Sylvia, 1) Everyone is different- absolutely! I, too spoke with others who had lap band or GBP prior. Neither procedure is without risk and both have potential problems. But everyone i spoke to was positive, gave me insight, and supported my right to make the decision, except my husband. I don't regret it for a minute. i was nervous about the surgery- had no problem. 2) Yes there is transference ( Watch your checkbook an Credit card!!) And but also instead of obsessing on food, calories, some may focus on #wt loss, Protein, or CC in the band. ( It is hard to give up) Do see a psychologist and Do set up a time to meet after the testing to sort through your feelings-best money i ever spent, after than the surgery. 3) How the surgery is funded has little to do with what the surgeon offers. They aren't going to hold your hand after the surgery but you do need to be connected with the surgeon for fills and any unforeseen problems. Having it done locally or at nearby would make follow-up easier. Yes, you will have to pay but their time is valuable, too. You do need to be able to reach a dietitian, too. You spent this money so you need to follow through with the diet and exercise components to make it work. Remember- it is not a solution, only a tool to get to the solution. 4) Positives and negatives- this exists with everything. So are the negatives with the procedure worse than the negatives without the procedure? I hesitated but it became clear the possible negatives of the lap band were better than my very real negatives of gaining more weight. Do ask questions. Write them down- i did and the pre surgery seminars are helpful. This forum is helpful. reach out. -
pvtash, You have still lost weight- that's the important part. Any loss is a win!!.and the non scale victories( i.e looser clothes) are often more thrilling than the scale!! I had to be reminded the weight loss will eventually average 1# /week. So you are doing fine!!

Well, I joined the club. I am at least at a standstill, too. Am on week 3 of antibiotics with a sinus infection. and gained maybe 2 #but am so sick with sinus drainage, cannot eat much. Am not sure how this will turn out. -
Hi ALL, I think i have that 'sweet spot" find I may be eating too fast, again. But lost 3# this week in total. Even with a sinus infection, antibiotics, and prednisone! Those of you with arthritis, Have you seen the liquid tylenol medications? Even plain tylenol , some for colds, flu, and allergies. i don't thinkI've seen liquid aspirin for adults but this tylemol may be a solution . i cannot tolerate most anti inflammatory meds needing a prescription, and even some OTC versions-esp advil, so tylenol, arthritis is my option for osteoarthritis and routine aches and pains.

Hi All, Another NSV! Went to a concert tonight. actually fit into the seat ,easily.! i wasn't squashed together with my thighs touching the person next to me!! i've tried and no amount of sucking it in and squeezing my legs together prevented me from touching the other person's leg in the past. Cannot put my arms down below the arm rests but this is much more comfortable!! -
YEAH!! lost 3 #, after nada for a few weeks!! It is working

Hi All, Congrats JoanMarie, i hope I can get to the at point soon. Am cutting out the grazing and changing exercising, but don't get that full sensation likepost surgery (when all was swollen) Will get my 3rd fill next Wed, Expect a lecture on my weight.
-
Kathy, That is normal, post surgery. You need to eat smaller amounts and chew more-the issue is how fast and how much you eat. not the band. If you are having this all the time, esp if you are eating smaller bites and chewing thoroughl, then let your doctor know. But look at your own behavior . Get the fill.
