    Non-Scale Victories Thread

ConGrats All, Debbie Gail, i, too hesitated for the same reasons. After pulling the too big clothes out of the closet to make room for the older- smaller stuff- something had to give. It took a few weeks of staring at this pile i was afraid to get rid of before I changed my mind. It will come. To be safe, i save the last size I left and donated the clothing to the YMCA who need clothing for women starting over and needing work clothes. and Good Will. I can sabotage myself really easily but the on-line groups, the local support group, and the exercise help. Keep the Too Big Clothes in a place you will see every day You will get fed up, too. It's just more baggage. My NSV is fitting into slacks 2 sizes smaller than i could April 1st (Don't know when it happened - the scale says I'm the same but..) .

    TIGHT mornings :)

Hi, just my 2 cents- i'm too busy in the morning to eat. i do drink a milk/ slimfast or protein powder shake and coffee- sip on both for up to 2 hours. About mid morning i may have a yogurt , or not. By noon, I can usually eat a bit. I, too find it more difficult in the AM if I ate more at night. Another person w/ LBS I know focuses on nuts for a mid Am snack.

HI ALL, Have the scale stuck (could it really need a new battery ?) :tongue2:but the slacks i bought 7 weeks ago are too loose9baggy) and the slacks I saved from before (when I kept going up in size) are also too big. got rid of more clothes, too!

    Nebraska Anyone???

Angie B2009, Hi, I'm from Lincoln and see Dr. Hung. No he doesn't use the Floro all the time. He does the first few times until your stomach is smaller and the port is easier to find. Everyone is different. he will tell you when to come get fills in the office. I only had 2 fills under the floro and the 3rd in the office . Really simple, under the floro, it is an outpatient procedure, done at the surgery center near his office (no problems and less expensive) At the surg center, nurses will monitor you and make sure there is no problem. I Do recommend him- he is very good, as is his staff!!i regret taking so long to do this- he is very good. Hope this helps you.
  14. Hi all, Am still fighting another sinus infection but lost 4 # this week!! Any loss is a win!!

    Can anyone drink beer?

i don't bother with carbonated drinks but you can sip wine or a wine cooler easily. a dry white wine wouldn't be sweet.
  18. Amen, Andy is banded! You are so correct. Obesity increases the fat on/around the organs, including the liver. the pre-op diet helps deal with that as the liver must be moved to insert the band. Smaller liver makes it easier. My PCP said i had a fatty liver based on blood tests. But the surgeon had no problem . Yes, i followed the diet to the letter.

    Advice please!!!!!!!!!!

Happiness1, Do go see the other surgeons! this Doctor is only concerned about his convenience, not you. I had to lose 190 # when I started . The doctor and I preferred the lap band, even when I developed health problems while waiting. Lapband statitistics show Fewer complications, with surgery and long term, than with the bypass. There are some here who had bypass and it was right for them; but if you don't want it, don't do it. BTW, there are surgeons in Omaha and Lincoln Ne who do lapband surgery- if you have to travel. I'll bet there is a Center of Excellence hospital for bariatric surgery in Des Moines, too.

    Non-Scale Victories Thread

Hey How is everyone doing? Florida Pete, Doxie, Susan1961? Any more victories? Actually gave up the seatbelt extender in this car this week.
  22. Hi All, Debi h , don't get discouraged. Everyone loses weight differently. just go over the diet and exercise instructions you have. some times even a small change such as cutting back on calories ( just a little)for a day, increasing water intake, or 1 extra set of exercises can get one off the plateau.
