Labor Day Wt loss Challenge- Sept. 7th

I'm still back. Had an allergy problem ( sinus drainage) that affect the band. had an unfill. :sad:go back again Monday for another ( smaller fill) Will check weigh tomorrow. It is more than 231. everyone is doing so great!!
  4. Glad to hear it!! Keep it up, Still keep yourself as your 1st priority!! hope things go well for you ..
  5. Yes, I think YoPlait has some as do some local/regional brands. Dannon has some, too. Grabbed 2 from my fridge- Mixed Berry YoPlait Light - 0 fat, 20g of carbs, (including 14 g sugars)at 100 calories, and 5 g protein. (the berries will have natural fructose in it -no sugar is added) and a Dannon nonfat plain Yogurt - 80 calories, 0 fat, 12 g carb (including 12 grams of sugars) and 8 grams of protein. There is no sugar added, this is the milk sugar from the yogurt itself. A Single container of 6 oz is at least 80 calories minimum. Most of the ones I see are 80-120 calories , no fat, and little sugar, except naturally occurring sugar in fruit. Do read the labels !!
  6. skinnyminny, Welcome to the club. any activity, even walking, will help work off the anger. Whatever you choose, do it instead of heading to the kitchen!!Good Luck!!

Does Banding Work if you're over 50?

Diva of High Maintainance, I doubt wt. loss will get you off thyroid meds but it may reduce the dose as you shrink in size. i go to the doctor before I stop any meds- they have to call it - (Tried it once on my own with really bad results) :thumbdown:am off all my BP meds. i am off most of my asthma meds. Had asthma as a child, no problems as adult until i weighed over 250#; It got significantly worse the more I weighed. 1 year ago they almost had me on Oxygen and now i take 1 med - I am not messing with success. So never say never....
  8. :cool:J Whipple, How is it going? How is the new job? have you contacted your daughter? or her Mom? Let us know how you are doing?

PT Myers,Sorry, i cannot help w/ the ticker factory, i tend to forget my password ( Have a bazillion at work and home) :lol:But a loss of 45 # is a major accomplishment! Any loss is a win!! :thumbup:Some people lose more because they need to lose more (I have to lose almost 190# so am not quite half way in my wt loss); others have few,if any, restrictions on their mobility or health. You are doing great!! .
  10. There are several yogurt brands out there. there are Light, nonfat, and sugar free versions. I think Dannon and/or Activia has a smoothie drink. Whatever you choose it should be w/o chunks- No "fruit on the bottom". Weight Watchers has some you may like and don't seem to have fruit pieces; they are lo fat and sugar. I try to check the amt. of protein grams / serving in the container. Some are as low as 3 while others are 7-8.. Some use gelatin and others do not. Yoplait has several Whips. Lights., and regular versions without fruit pieces.
  11. China, Are we supposed to add the info. on this spread Sheet? i thought someone was for everyone ?
  12. Erin if you can sip w/o a spoon, you don't need it. use a water bottle or any container with premeasured amount of liquid. ( use any bottle you want and fill it with whatever you want) sip on it as you tolerate. At the end of the day you should have drunk at least 8 cups of liquid this way. I started pre-op and it does get:cool2: easier.
  13. Erin 18, Glad to hear things are turning the corner. Still rest. You have to push fluids- a few sips of water at a time. Try drinking ungelled jello. At least it has a flavor) In liquid form it may give you some sense of feeling full. I craved pickle juice and juice around olives as everything was so sweet. :cool2:use a spoon until you feel it will stay down. Good Luck
  14. Cool your Jets, 9-10 days is too soon. Some of you may have meds or other conditions that will hide the weight loss (i.e. fluid retention) The surgery is not magic; surgery does not suddenly cause weight loss. Some do not lose right after surgery. Remember, the band is only a tool. You have to use the tool. Do up your protein in liquids. And follow your doctor's diet! find things to keep you out of the kitchen!!!
  15. Erin18, i know about dry heaves. Have a sinus problem that combined with the lap band can make me vomit to that point. hang in there. it will get better. the pain and other things will stop. Give it time, but if you cannot keep anything down, especially water and meds, Do contact your surgeon ASAP. Rest, And remind yourself of all the reasons you did this.

    7 months post-op updates

Hi I had my 5th fill Wednesday. At 8 months post surgery Turns out some of the previous fills leaked out.( Am told this is nothing to get worried about- it happens) Really only added back what the last 2 fills were to be. In Prep for the fill, i managed to drop 4 # , Have lost about 58-9 # since surgery. Off all my BP meds. My asthma meds are 1/4th what they were. Walked 3 miles on Monday! Now I want to enjoy life- unfortunately am not old enough to retire and need insurance.:wink2:
  17. Hi All, Florida Pete, hang in there. You are doing really great!! You deserve all the good vibes we can give you !!! All, I am back. Labor Day Wt loss Challenge- Sept. 7th

:thumbup:Hi All, I'm BAACCKKKK!!! had a fill Wednesday and already have dropped 4#( just in prep for the fill!!) I may make this goal yet!!At 231#!!!
  19. China, Enjoy it no matter what you weigh!! Bermuda sounds fun. Denal8, I, too am addicted to the scale. i used to gain wt. just looking at food, so am doing this to be proactive. it sets the tone for the day, but I look at is as goal setting- not a time to be bummed with a gain/no change. My downfall is eating bread and flour items which stalls any weight loss.:wink2: If i can keep away from them, i can lose...

    Nebraska Anyone???

Mrs. Tabor. I'm a Lincolnite so not much help with local groups in Omaha. Look on the monthly groups here. There are groups for July and August 2009 Bandsters. They will help a lot. I'm in Lincoln and each support group operates differently. the local group here (Lincoln) includes people seriously considering surgery, awaiting surgery and several years post surgery. Your surgeon may know of a local Omaha group. i found the local group so helpful dealing with 'nerves' prior to the surgery. Also join a group here at this site. The group having surgery the same month was really helpful. We were all going throught the same thing at about the same time.

Labor Day Wt loss Challenge- Sept. 7th

Ewiedbingcott, Congrats!!! You are doing great! i have been eating carbs esp cereal and Cheetos for the last week . Had DD hide the rest I am staying out of the pantry only unless absolutely necessary. Have lost 10 # since my last fill and been wavering over the same few #s for over 2 weeks. Have another fill scheduled Wed. Maybe My giving up flour (and Cheetos) with the fill, will help
  25. Then, you have a little time to focus on you. take a break!. If the divorce is final, you have to start over- with her, or someone else- it is your choice. You hold the most cards now. You must decide what is best for you. You have been on such a roller coaster, taking a breather for a bit may help. Do things that make you feel good- besides eating.
