How long before bed or what time do you stop eating?
stefunny posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've read and been told not to go to bed with food in my pouch. I was just curious how many hours before bed does everyone eat last. Or does anyone have a specific time they don't eat past? -
I do'nt have anyone else to talk to....

I know you live in a small town, but most hospitals have some sort of "life stress unit". Ours does and believe me I've thought of checking in more than once. Please if things don't get better get checked in. Forget about everything else... your husband and mil WILL pick up the slack, they have no choice. YOU NEED A BREAK! -
I'm with all of you in bandster hell. Sort of like purgatory really. I was banded june 16th so I'm still on mushies... and starving! I lost 13 pounds on the liquid phase and now just stalled (not gaining though). I'll be getting a fill on the first day allowed (Aug 1st). I don't know how some people never get a fill!

The same thing happened to me over 5 years ago. The doctor did bloodwork for EVERYTHING and it came back negative. He convinced me that I was depressed.... so I became depressed. Then he finally called me in for one more test. Turned out I have Epstein Barr which basically translates to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. So if they can't find anything else, have your titers checked for Epstein Barr. The diagnosis only helps you not feel crazy because there is no treatment for it! Hope you get help soon ... I know exactly how you feel! Stephanie

GonnaDoit, I think it's a sign. The same thing happened to me... I had been thinking about getting a lap band for few months, but couldn't justify going into debt over it. We were thinking about taking a 401(k) loan to pay for it, but that made me feel guilty and selfish (I'm a stay-at-home-mom) because that is for our retirement. Then my husband won an online poker tournament for $16,000. After he won he looked at me and said," Yes, you can get the lap band." It was a sign. So... my surgery is the day afer tomorrow! And I'm getting very nervous and very excited! Good luck with your decision. You and I are about the same age I'm 32. In 10-20 years are you going to look back and wish you had paid off debt or made the decision to get healthy. The way I was going... I wouldn't have been around in 20 years to look back at all! I'm a soon-to-be Reno bandster. My surgery is Friday June 16th with Dr. Kuri in TJ. I will probably see him for a fill in October because I'm going to Disneyland anyway. For regular fills I plan to go to Dr. Billy in Truckee, I've heard nothing but great things about him. My fills are free in TJ, but after the cost to get there, hotel and getting over the border.... a couple of hundred bucks to got to Truckee is better. Skye our starting weights are the same, does Dr. Billy take low BMI patients (or mabye you're short lol) Stephanie

5 days post band and tongue is really red
stefunny replied to suchadiva's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It sounds to me like you are detoxing. One of my many diet attempts was the Lemonade diet. When you are fasting (which is what you are essentially doing) your body gets rid of toxins. My tongue was white and coated for about a week before it started getting pink again. According to the diet you are done detoxing when you tongue goes back to pink. -
Thank you sooooo much for that post! It's like you read my mind... today I was having second thoughts after reading a few negative posts (on the Big Paul sticky). You've given me a renewed excitement for my surgery date of June 16th!

Lately I 've been having surgery related dreams where I wake up banded and I can immediately tell the difference (these dreams are great). Last night I had the most bizarre dream... I was out with my husband and someone said ," Hi, Valerie." Well, my name is Stephanie. It turned out that I had another personality named Valerie that was sneeking out at night and partying till all hours. That was the reason I'm tired all the time, have headaches and can't lose any weight. Because Valerie was undoing all my exercise and eating right by partying all night! I have to tell you this dream would make alot of sense if it were true! So, my surgery is scheduled for June 16th and I'm saying goodbye to Valerie forever!

Duh, I just saw your signature! The day before me!

When's your date? I'm June 16th. Not nervous yet just excited. Talk to me in June... I'll be a nervous wreck right along with you!

Pre-op, not dieting and friends are "concerned". Help!
stefunny replied to Constance's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm having a similar problem. I need to gain 3 pounds by June 16th to have the surgery. My family is appalled and don't think I should do it if it means I have to gain weight. I've tried to explain to them gaining 3 pounds to lose 60-70 is worth it! Then to add to it... I'm having trouble gaining weight! But, I have about 5 weeks so until then I'm on the "Last Supper Diet"! -
Did anyone feel guilty before being banded? I have these feelings that I should be losing weight on my own, that the money could be better spent somewhere else (I'm self-pay) and that I'm selfish for wanting to do this. My husband is very supportive and just wants me to be happy. On the other hand, I think ... are these thoughts just my way of sabatoging (sp?) myself like I have on sooo many diets?

For those of you who got banded in Mexico, who does your fills in Reno? I want to make sure there is someone before I pursue any further.
