    How dare she!!!

I'm no longer going to be apart of a board that allows moderators to treat members as they do. JoJo came to us to vent. She didn't ask for opinions, advice and certainly not to be attacked. Can't you just say that sucks or too bad that happened... or nothing at all? No, you would rather defend someone you've never met and never will over a fellow bandster. In true lapbandtalk form a simple "my day sucked" had to turn into a debate started by a moderator. I know I'll get bashed (also lapabandtalk form) because I don't post on average 12 times a day, but I had to say my peace. I'm glad you got your voucher JoJo even their corporate office thought you got treated badly!
  2. I agree... it is the mother's problem not yours. I would NEVER expect my mom to watch MY kids under these circumstances. I know you love your grandchild, but you need to take care of her grandma!

Anyone Use Lortab Liquid For Post-Op Pain?

I needed sleeping pills more than pain meds. I filled my pain rx, but never used it. I used liquid Tylenol PM to sleep the first few days.

    B-12 Shots

I was thinking about ordering the B12 patch. It's absorbed just like the shots and it's about $25 for a month's supply. Anyone heard of this or tried it? I figure for $25 I can check it out.

I Love Love Love My Band-finally

That is so awesome! I'm hoping for the same thing with my 2nd fill on Sat. I can eat as much as preband right now. I'm glad to see there is hope!

Hi, and I am new from Nevada

Hi Patty! I'm also in Reno, but I went to TJ for my surgery and do my follow up in Truckee with Dr. Billy. My husband is also in the IBEW but for Sierra Pacific. I go for my second fill on Sat. I currently have no restriction on amount, but a little on texture (meat and bread get caught if I'm not paying attention. I'm guessing I'll need a few fills to get it right because I started with a lower BMI. You're going to do great!

Anyone else a fan of Big Brother?

I'm actually boycotting Survivor this season. First they did men vs women, then old vs. young, now by race? What's next by sexual preference or thin vs. fat? I'm not going to support a show that thinks it's ok to segregate people even in fun. GM agrees with me since they pulled their sponsorship for the first time since the show started. Oh and GO JANELLE!!!

Anyone else a fan of Big Brother?

I've been watching the live feed, too. I think Will and Janelle really might like each other. Will's got a girlfriend named Erin that he's always worried about. Will and Janelle are actually really sweet to each other. Will wakes her up in the morning, one time he slept on the floor by her bed and they were holding hands, and other stuff they don't show on TV.
  10. I don't mind them letting them have it out on the rants and raves thread, but I wish they would keep it off of the top of the board. I really don't care to know what is going on in their sick and twisted worlds. All I know is they would never treat each other like that in the real world. I'm speaking specifically of the "Put up or shut up" thread among others. I come here to get advise, look at before and after pictures and get support. I'm starting to think that these things are no longer offered here and I'll need to go to a face-to-face support group.

    Hair Loss

I'm two months post-op and clogging my drain every morning. I haven't lost any weight in about 3 weeks... so the rapid weight loss theory doesn't fit me. Regardless, I went and bought a Nioxin kit at the beauty supply ($25 because my mom is a manicurist) because I can't go bald. My hair is my thing ... until I get skinny and then it can be my smokin' body!

    Travelling to Mexico alone

I had my surgery done in Tijuana by the Kuri Team (I say team because there were 3 surgeons and 2 anesthesiologists!). I took my husband, but I definitely could have gone alone. They picked me up from the airport, walked me through every step, drove me to the hotel, and took me back over the border to the airport. It was a very comfortable experience. That being said, I'm pretty independent. So, if you're someone that needs your hand held for moral support... you should bring someone. Feel free to message me if you have any other questions.
  13. Remind me never to get on your bad sides! Sorry you had to go through that NewSho. At least your regular doctor supports you! You'll get back to where you were in no time.

    life after meeting target

I actually had a tummy tuck preband 4 years ago. I had a huge pouch from two difficult pregancies in which I gained 60 pounds (and never lost). They took 5 pounds of tissue and another 5 pounds of fat lipo'd. I'm not gonna lie... childbirth was easier. If you have a tt take whatever pain killers you can get and take them at the prescribed time before the pain comes. If you wait you will be playing catch-up with the pain and it is uncomfortable. I slept in the recliner for a week because I could'nt stretch out enough to lay down and for the same reason walked hunched over for 5 days. I felt well enough to send my mom home after 7 days (my youngest was just one year old) and was back to housework at day 10. So, four years later I'm banded and ready to get rid of the 60 pounds. And although I started at 213, my stomach is totally flat. So I'm just thick and no longer have the pouch. And after I lose 60 pounds, if there is extra skin... I'll do it all over again! (actually hubby said the lapband is my last elective surgery! he may think differently after my C cup turns into flapjacks!)

    It's official

Sam, you are an inspiration. Under goal and think... you will lose more with all the skin and tissue they remove! I've already had a tummy tuck preband... just remember while you are recovering that it will all be worth it! On the second day I thought I made a huge mistake... now I think it was the second best medical decision I've made (the lap band being the first!)
  16. I saw someone else recommend it but... buy "the Rules". A lot of it is totally ignorant, but the overall message is "you're better than this!" If a guy doesn't treat you like a princess get rid of him. Don't be desperate, don't call him... and above all else be BUSY! It will happen when you are not looking and when you least expect it. Good luck girl, and repeat after me... I'm worth more than this!

FUN- What diets have you tried ?

here's my list... Atkins McDougal Diet Raw food diet Lemonade Diet Body for Life Suzanne Sommers Dr. Phil Ultimate whatever that was Anti- yeast diet Weight Watchers - 3 times Jenny Craig Hypnostist South Beach Diet Sugar Busters Prescription diet pills (worked well until I ended up in ER with my heart almost stopping like Terri Schiavo because of low potassium) Metabolife Trimspa Medifast- yuck! The Zone I think that's it! Then I wonder why my husband would roll his eyes every time I started a new gimmick. Plus, this was all in the last 6 years because I was thin until I had kids! I am so happy to eat until I'm full and then stop....best diet ever!
  18. I'm going to get my first fill in a couple of hours... and I'd love to learn from other's mistakes! I already know prefill I can't do bagels or soft pretzels. I'd like everyone to list foods they know they can't tolerate (I know what the books say!)

    Not band friendly foods

The books I'm talking about are Lapband for Life by Dr. Ortiz and Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding by Jessie H. Ahroni. Between the two books, I can get all the "scientific" answers I want. For real advice I come here! The fill went fine. I saw Dr. Billy in Truckee. He put in 1cc which I thought wasn't alot for the first fill, but he is conservative and I'll be seeing him every month until I have the correct restriction. Thanks to Penni for recommending him!

Self Pay Question At Western Surgical

I live in Reno, but I did self pay with the Kuri Team in Tijuana. The Western Surgical Group costs over $20,000 and I paid $10,000 including airfare. The Kuri Team has performed thousands of lapbands... Western is in the hundreds. There are alot of good reasons to stay close to home, but my experience in Tijuana was awesome. I'm sure there will be responses from people that have used and are very happy with Western. Have you gone to a seminar yet?
