I agree with you, I have one also!! I want all the medical professionals to know. It definitely can't hurt by giving them the information!! I also don't mind wearing it as it reminds me of the big decision and commitment I've made to improve my health and life!!! -

i know this is an old post but Dr Hoeltgen just did my sleeve in April 2023. I love him and am forever grateful to him for changing my life!!! -
I am 54 and had the sleeve done on 4/12/2023. I am 2.5 months post op and have lost 43lbs. I was concerned with age as far as losing weight as fast as some of the people who are younger, but i seem to be right on track. I was also concerned that menopause might cause slow weight loss. I like many people on here will say I wish i had done the surgery sooner!!!! Best decision ever to have the surgery! I do not regret it one bit.

I love Bariatric Pal but i do disagree that everything on there is healthy. You still have to read the labels. I have wanted to order some of their products until i looked at the label, then decided not to. They are great for some items, but then again since having the surgery i am very picky about what i eat based on nutrition labels.

Newest nsv.......Walking out of my swimming shorts! Luckily i was at home. While walking through my hallway with items in both hands, my swim shorts fell down to my ankles! I almost also walked out of my pants at work! Great NSV's if you ask me!!! -

I have one also but that doesnt mean a restaurant will charge you a lower price. If they dont have any smaller options for me, i will get the normal size and then bring some to lunch the next day, and give the rest to my husband to eat for his lunch. Certain restaurant kids menu are better than others. Texas Roadhouse has grilled chicken tenders on their kids menu. I usually order that with broccoli or carrots instead of fries. You will learn what restaurants will accommodate you. I stick to those restaurants that have something on the kids menu besides maccaroni and cheese or fried chicken tenders! -
Very encouraging and congrats to you! Keep up the great work!

Thank you for your encouraging words and advice!!! Menopause is a nasty thing 👿 and it even has the word men in it, go figure!! Congratulations on doing great on your weight loss journey!

Struggling… the evil voice is back.

My opinion is quite different. I do agree with everyone that we are all going to have a slip at one point or another, but to eat carbs without tracking them, or eating a lot of carbs seems self sabotaging to me. For me, bread, rice and pasta are out of the question. There are so many low carb delicious recipes out there that i dont even miss the carbs. Do i miss not eating the rolls at Texas Roadhouse??? Absolutely, but when i think about where i was, i never wanna go back to that. If you have self discipline to eat them every once in awhile, go for it but it is just not for me anymore. -
I agree, Texas roadhouse is great. I havent been to outback since ive had my " banana" but i will keep that in mind
-
Texas Roadhouse has grilled chicken tenders. I order that plus fresh veggies which is normally brocolli and carrots. The chicken tenders are so juicy soft and seasoned very well!

It is kinda true right???!!!😂 I work in a Dr's office and had the sleeve on 4/12/23 -
Kinda funny....the opposite of you....I was born a Hoosier but have lived in IL for almost all my life! Have a great day!
-
Thank you Arabesque! I kind of get in my head at times because i really think menopause did a number on me as far as weight gain and inability to lose it on my own without surgery. I know everyone is different and we should not compare the rate or amount of weight loss to others. I just wonder at some point if menopause will interfere with the amount of weight i am able to lose as it seems my hormones seem to be sabotaging me as far as hot flashes, etc. My "banana" was born on 4/12/23 and I've lost 37 lbs. I suppose not bad for 2 months. I average 400-500 calories a day. I get about 60g of protein per day. I will be honest and say i don't exercise as much as i should. Water is hard for me to drink the amount you are supposed to so i did switch to decaf black tea with splenda and of course that is easier for me to drink more of it but still dont think i'm getting the 64oz of liquid.
-
I think that is an excellent amount of weight loss!!! Congratulations!!

Hi and nice to meet you also! Welcome to the group! Good luck with your surgery on the 27th. I am doing great! No vomiting, very little pain after surgery, and mentally in a great place. I have a great husband and family who are super supportive. I was very mentally ready for this journey and knew of the sacrifices i would have to make food wise.

Any suggestions on baby food flavors
NCL04321 replied to Jjohnson1971's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My nutritionist said baby food is for babies. It is formulated for babies so it does not have the amounts of nutrients that an adult may need. However, i will ocasionally will have gerber blueberry pear. I think it is delicious. Just buy a can of no sugar added carrots and put them in a blender! I also pureed canned chicken breast and put a little no sugar added Ray's BBQ sauce on it! Super yum and im sure better than baby food! -
