    Black bean burgers

My dietician said baby food is for babies. It does not have the same nutritional content an adult needs. You can puree chicken breast by adding water or chicken broth to it. it actually isnt that bad. I added sugar free bbq sauce to add flavor. Also, just buy a can of no added sugar fruit like pears or peaches and puree them. I also pureed canned green beans and carrots. Everything tastes the same you just have to get over the consistency.

    Rice and noodles

I also agree with everyone above. Leave out the pasta and rice, bread, pita etc and you will have more success on your weight loss journey. All of those are a hard no for me simply because they are not good for us. Plus if you eat them often, your body will crave them.
  4. Keep us updated, I'm sure you are not the only one in this position and i'm sure your comments will help others. Good luck with your bloodwork, i hope you get some answers. Glad to hear he doesnt think it is acanthosis!

    Anyone starting out around 225lbs?

I am 54 years old and 5'1''. My starting weight was 230. I'm currently at 175.9. My surgery was 4 months ago. My goal weight is listed as 140 because that is what my nutritionist said i would likely get to. i would like to get down to 120-130 but i am being realistic and setting the goal for 140 and then we will see what happens!
  6. keep moving forward like you are!!! Everything happens for a reason. If they are treating you like that before surgery, just imagine how they would be after surgery! I think it is a blessing in disguise that they dropped your surgery date!!! Keep fighting for yourself!!!
  7. It takes the stomach 6 months to totally heal. That being said, we dont have a lifting restriction for 6 months but i would definitely check with your surgeon and let him/her know the amount of weight you are lifting a day so they can let you know if you are over doing it at this point in your recovery.

    11 Years Post Surgery

That is amazing! You look great! Thank you for sharing as it gives all of us confidence that we can do this and maintain the weight loss!!! Thank you!
  9. I agree with you!! I am so paranoid about eating too many calories and so i under eat! I am 3.5 months out of sleeve surgery and I think my body is in starvation mode. I'm going to try to up my calories to 600 and see if that breaks my somewhat stall. i was drinking a protein shake at night but i figured its like 160 calories before bed.....not sure if that is good for me. I drink it in the morning now as breakfast. Then i will have no fat cottage cheese or greek yogurt as a snack a couple hours after dinner.

    9 month post op

That is fantastic!! Congratulations to you! I feel the same way and i am only 3 months out! I have lost 50 lbs (no preop diet required). l feel spectacular with the 50lb off and cant wait to see what it feels like to be at or near my goal weight! No regrets here so far!

    Did I eat too much?

I agree with Bariatric Master, go to your nutritionist and ask her the question. There are too many opinions on here and your nutritionist is different than mine. For instance, at 3 mos out of sleeve surgery, my dietician said i should be eating about 600-700 calories a day. I know that answer is probably different for many people on this forum. Don't sweat it, you are doing great!

    10 years out

Thank you for sharing your emotional story. It just goes to show you we are human, we fall, we get back up and start over again! I think you are amazing for overcoming everything you did and i wish you strength and persistence on your cotinured journey! You got this!!!!
  13. I'VE MADE THIS PIZZA BUT USED GROUND CHICKEN INSTEAD OF SHREDDED OR CANNED. I ALSO PUT A LOT LESS CHEESE ON IT AND LIKE YOU I ADDED TURKEY PEPPERONI. iT IS VERY TASTY, YOU JUST DONT GET THE TEXTURE OF REGULAR CRUST. ONCE YOU GET PAST THAT, THE REST IS DELICIOUS!

    Complaining

So sorry, I know this is an important topic for us women!! Just remember it will all be worth it in the end! It is a natural response to losing the weight in such a short amount of time! I had my sleeve done April 12, 2023 and i have also noticed more coming out than before. I havent really noticed the dryness, maybe wash your hair less to see if that helps.

    Surgery is May 1st

so tell us how did it go?

    Liquids with food

I'm also pretty sure it is a lifelong rule. They don't want us to wash the food out of our stomach too soon before getting the necessary nutrients from the food we just ate. I as well as others have sometimes had to take a sip while eating, but it is just that, a small sip. I do drink up to eating and that has not afftected my ability to eat my food. I do limit my drinking after to about 30 min, sometimes 20 min

    Surgery Failure

I dont think the surgery fails as much as we the people fail! I also suggest using the baritastic app for tracking everything you put in your mouth. Sometimes we don't realize how much we are actually eating in a day. I would rather eat my carbs than drink them. You will be more full from food carbs rather than liquid carbs. A lot of the juices, even the one's we are giving our kids because we think they are healthy, are in fact not healthy. Also if you are working out, remember muscle weighs more than fat. On the baritastic app it lets you keep track of measurements such as arms, thighs chest, hips and waist. Maybe measure yourself and keep track of that monthly. You will see a difference in inches lost. That is great encouragement. Good luck to you on your journey!
  18. Convenience is also a thing to consider. For example, Jello makes ready-made sugar free Jello cups and sugar free chocolate pudding cups. I always have these on hand for my chocolate craving that pops up every now and then. I also always keep Sarrgento low fat mozzarella string cheese and lower fat Babybels on hand. I always have Chobani zero sugar Greek yogurt on hand as well. I know you said it makes you gag right now and I went through something similar because i honestly dislike Greek yogurt but I have learned to eat it. I buy multiple flavors to keep it "fresh". I can finally eat fresh fruit and vegetables so I buy a bag of frozen blueberries to add to my yogurt cup. That really helps the yogurt go down smoothly. I also still drink a Premier protein Chocolate Peanut butter ready-made shake every day. That is the only one I can get down without difficulty although the cookies and creme does taste just like Oreos! Maybe try a different brand/flavor of protein shake. I'm 3.5 months post sleeve and just met with my nutritionist. They love protein shakes for us and told me to continue to drink them. I have not had bread, pasta or rice since my surgery 3.5 months ago. That was something I prepared myself for prior to surgery. I will make enough dinner to have it as a leftover for lunch at work the next day. There are so many lower fat/ no sugar options. Use cauliflower rice instead of regular rice. Add salsa to it and you have Spanish rice! Use zoodles or spaghetti squash for pasta substitute. Use a lettuce leaf instead of bread for burgers. Use plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Dip veggies in hummus or ranch dip made with greek yogurt for more protein. I think if you make changes as everyone has suggested you will be successful on your journey. Don't get discouraged because you've already realized you need to change how you eat. That is already a win for you! Good luck, I know you will be ok! We are always here for support!

    No Loose Skin

I agree with everyone on here. It is not a problem unless she is getting a yeast infection under the skin flap, or sores under there. Otherwise she can leave it, there is no medical need to have it removed.

    Over 50 sleevers

yes, however i do think menopause has something to do with weight gain/loss.
  21. These sound like much healthier options than some of the others listed!

    Chickpea Pasta

All of the veggie pastas i looked at in the pasta aisle at my grocery store are loaded with carbs. I passed on them all and decided to buy a spaghetti squash, and a frozen bag of zoodles to keep on hand for a last minute easy dinner.

    Regrets

You will be able to eat anything like normal! However, you have to be careful about what you choose to eat! Read lablels and track the food you eat in an app. I like the baritastic app. Once you see how many calories you ate from the loaded mashed potatoes, it will make you think about eating them again! It's not worth it to go back to the old habits we all had that got us into this obese predicament! Stay strong and resist the temptations, you can do it!!!

    Regretting this surgery Help.

First of all, you are NOT doing anything wrong!!! I agree you need a visit with your surgeon. He will know what testing to order for you so you can get some answers. I know its hard to stay positive when you are in pain and are probably questioning your decision of having the surgery, but in the long run once they figure out what is causing your pain, you will be so happy you did this just like everyone else on this forum! Good luck and feel better quick!
  25. See, we can't always see the change on the scale, however changes are happening inside us for the better. Might I suggest you measure your thighs, hips, waist, chest and neck every month. That way you can see the inches coming off rather that the scale moving. This may give you the confidence and motivation to feel better about yourself!
