Ok husband has had band for several years. He has struggled for sometime now. Haven't been able to go to get another fill, going in Jan and paying out of pocket. His knee keeps him from walking and doing most exercises. Any suggestions as to what to do?

My hubby tends to have problems after his fill. He will feel restrictions for a day but that's about all. A friend told him to do liquids the day of his fill then do purees the day after. Finally then start back to solids. We have never really found the sweet spot, green zone for a long period of time. Any suggestions

Does anyone know how the dr determines which size band to use? My hubby has the 14cc and he is at 11.5cc in his band now and still not feelin gmuch restrictions. Could it be his band is too big?

mu hubby has a 14cc band. he was up to between 11-12 cc but not losing any weight. We even had his band drained for a month then filled. First was 8.5 cc then yesterday 3 cc more. Now he is up to 11.5 cc. I'm wondering if he should have had the smaller band. He has had this band since nov 2008

It has been awhile since our last post....anyways....we are considering getting the Biggest Loser program for our Wii. Has anyone tried this or even the Jillian Michael's program?

Has anyone had the flu sincce being banded? Husband tried to vomit and couldn't. Anyone else had this experience?

If the band is not tightened at surgery and the fill doesn't come for 4-6 weeks, why then only liquids then mushie? The opening is then still the same as before. What have you been told the reason for this is? How can eating small bites, chewing extremly well, mess you up? Hubby starting to get really tired and hungry with this liquid bit.

This is great - how much have you lost in that month? I think I'll do the same for my hubby. Keep up the great work.

Call your surgeon.....my hubby's port started to leak yesterday. At the time we didn't realize it was the port. Anyways, this morning he went to the Immediate Care and they took a Q-tip and opend the hole where the leak was and patched him and told him to call his surgeon. Our dr said come in NOW. Dr said this isn't really that unusual and that his incision needed to stitched. Basically in my hubby it was a blood clot was had done something. Anyways, because it was clear that was good. Dr stitched him in the office and patched him and also started him on antibodic to prevent an infection. Not a major scare but definitely something to call about and do what he says. Hubby doing great now!!! This was all today. :thumbup: Good Luck - let me know what happens

Hubby had his surgery last Tuesday (11/11), yesterday his main wound started to seep clear liquids. Nothing discolored and wound is not red and hot. Has anyone had this happen to them and what did you do? I have cleaned with hydrogen proxide. He is nervous about it and probably will go to the local clinic. (dr is 2 hours away) Any suggestions?

I've heard that sometimes this happens when your body is low of protein. I'm not sure though. I have been trying to keep my hubby's protein level up. He doesn't have much hair to begin with. LOL We plan on asking the dr next week.

Hubby is wondering what you have had for your liquid diets during the first two weeks. He has been drinking slimfast, SF carnation breakfast, (I've added sf ice cream to this). Also, water of course...juices he has drank. Anything else?

My hubby was banded on Tuesday. He did great until last night. He was up most of the night with the dry he vies. He said he was feeling nausea. The doctor ordered two different meds for him. he is doing better tonight. How many of you dealt with the gas build up like this. He also has been taking tums (except for the last day) for 8 days.

How do you insert a tickerfactory? I went to the site and made one...now what?

Hubby has two questions....1. Can he lay on his side? Of Course not the side that the port is on. Do any of you sleep on your side? 2. He feels fine, other than the left side. This is where the port is....did you feel tight all on that side?

My hubby was banded about one hour ago. Dr said he did well. He was on the liquid diet since last Tues. When he weighed last monday he was 419 today he is 397. However, we had a scare - hospital wanted to cancel his surgery because of his insurance (medicaid). Our dr went to bat and pleaded with them to let him continue since my husband had done everything that was needed. The admin board agreed to continue on this one case. I am ever soooo thankful for our dr and the board. Looking forward to seeing all the new changes.

Hubby and I went to the surgeon yesterday. He has his surgery next Tuesday, Nov 16th. He started the liquid diet today. Tonight he is having a hard time - he is taking diet soda, crystal light, cottage cheese, canned peaches, 1/2 banana. I got him some slim fast drinks. Any other suggestions. He is starting to get a little nervous now.

Thanks to all for suggestions and thoughts. My hubby has made it through day 2. Tonight he had 1/2 cup of lowfat cottage cheese, 1/2 cup of SF Jello and a SF popsicle for dessert. I think he had 2 slim fast shakes today also. I am going to call tomorrow and see about adding some scrabble eggs. He is trying to keep in mind that maybe by Christmas he can start having small bites of solids. Several are getting banded on Nov 11th. Not too far off. Our whole family is excited about my hubby doing this. The kids are making plans for the summer already.

How long have you been told your surgery will take? I know that things may change once they begin - but what is the average everyone has been told. Maybe some that have been banded can tell us how long their banding took.

We got the call today - mu husband is going to be banded on the 11th in Decatur. He asked if there was anything sooner. They haven't said anything about a pre-opt fast though. We go on Nov 3 to get final blood and do all the rest, hoping they will say something then. What exactly have some of you done on the pre-opt fast?

He is having the banding done at Decatur Memorial Hosp. Dr Gilman - thanks for all the suggestions. I think he will start on Monday something just so he is ahead of the game

Like I said! My husband is sitting here and saw the pose - he said, "Yeah, right - a person would brake in two doing that." Maybe when he loses a bunch he will be able to use it. Thanks

This morning my husband is going for his upper GI. The doc will not set the date till this last thing is done. Wished they had told us two weeks ago when we were approved. He hasn't been told if he has to go on a opt fast or not, or even what that entales. We are just excited that the banding will be done either the last of Oct or first of Nov. Any more suggestions on preparing for the Big Day?
