Are We Ready For A Woman VP?

Sure sounds like you are saying Republican views = intelligence and that doesn't sound like an intelligent comment to me. Just b/c their views may be different than yours doesn't make them intellectually inferior. And Elizabeth gets plenty of words in.

You know what I find funny, your state couldn't be more blue and mine couldn't be more red. But I am glad yours has more votes

Oh come on you weren't frothing at the mouth to jump on this thread and spin your gal!! Before I even logged on I thought to myself I wonder how many posts gadgetlady has made already. No backpeddling here I knew she would do well (not great but well). I think she had trouble staying on task but nothing that was damaging. I agee with the guys on CNN that she didn't do much for talking up McCain and he probably won't get a bump from this but he wasn't hurt either.

Okay obviously you don't watch The View reguarly. I sure think "liberal" when I think of Elizabeth. She spoke at a Cindy McCain luncheon and has been a Bush guest at the White House!!! Joy is certainly liberal and Whoopi leans very left. Sherri is more moderate she has positive thoughts often about Palin/McCain and Elizabeth couldn't be more Republican regarding her views on the show. Izzyd you seem to be drinking lots of Republican Kool-Aid. If you are a decided Republican then you naturally are likely to cry fowl when your guy doesn't do well and visa versa for the Dems. Quit blaming the media and admit she did a very bad interview and her handlers didn't coach her well. Just as I have the ability to admit she did very well tonight. While I don't think she was anything amazing I think she held her own and certainly took steps toward redeeming herself from last weeks interview

    Insurance Coverage Blue Cross

It really doesn't have as much to do with the brand of insurance you have as it does your employer and what type of coverage they purchased. I would start by reading your benefits booklet and the written exclusions. Some insurance plans have a written exclusion where they will not pay at all. I think most insurance companies require a BMI of over 40 with no comorbidities (I could be wrong on this one). If your insurance has the coverage you will be able to find out their requirements. Most insurance companies also require you to jump through some hoops before they approve you if you qualify. Good Luck

    Weight Watchers Scale WW67T

I have the same scale. My owner's manual has a customer service # 1(800)326-6247. You could try calling and see if they will send you one in the mail. If no luck let me know and I could try to scan mine and email it to you

Have you started your 3 month diet? I am 1 wk into mine, I must admit it's a total joke. I feel as if I am just jumping through hoops to please the insurance company. Plus it is rather strange that they aren't trying to get you to lose a lot of weight but rather notice your trends and the things you do that promote weight gain. For me my goals were things like drink more water, don't have tv on while eating or don't eat at my desk at work and look at the computer at the same time. St. Mary's has a program where they assist you with the process using their staff which has made it easier for me. Good Luck

    Hospital Implant Charges

Hospitals always mark up a ton knowing they are only going to get a fraction from the insurance company. If your procedure was in network then your insurance company has a fixed price they pay for the procedure given you didn't require anything special. The hospital can bill anything they want and your insurance is still only going to pay what they think the procedure is worth. The person who gets the bad end of the deal is the self pay since they have to pay the inflated rate...which is just crazy.
  9. While I totally understand your desire for quick turnaround and could see myself considering the same delima. But from an independent perspective I would never compromise my safety for a quick fix. If this other doc is the best doc then I would have to wait for him. Granted the new doc is in fact a doctor and has probably assisted on tons of surgeries with another doc watching over, I would still be a bit cautious as I would prefer the doctor that has seen almost every complication and knows what to do from experience Obviously I don't know your health situation but if you are anything other that the poster child for a perfect patient I would go with experience. as it just isn't worth the risk when you have a better option. Sorry I know that isn't what you want to hear.

    Hello from KY

I'm going with St. Mary's also. I met with Dr. Lusco last week and began my 3 month diet for insurance. I am so excited but it will probably be January at the earliest before I can get my surgery

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?

I think the only person who regularly posts on this thread that could begin to call themselves truly objective when it comes to this election is Jack

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?

Okay Gadget lets get real. Would you really say you have been objective on this thread? I simply don't recall where you have been critical of your candidates (maybe you have somewhere but I really think it would have stood out to me). I recall you being objective once when someone posted that stupid youtube video and you mentioned it was garbage (or something to that extent). But I hardly think that qualifies you as the poster child for objectivity. Regarding the interview let’s use your objective skills and look at the whole situation. This was her first interview and we as a nation don't have much information regarding her political views, so it's important that someone ask her those questions. After all we as voters should have this information in order to make a well informed decision, right? Barack has been interviewed hundreds of times including: Meet the Press, Face the Nation, O'Riley Factor...hardly cakewalk interviews not to mention numerous debates. I too try to be an objective individual as I am pretty good at considering the others point of view. But I am also objective enough to admit when I am not able to be objective.
  15. This is such a great thread, I have been thinking about this before I found this and it's great therapy. Spanx everyday even when it’s 100 degrees outside Black pants everyday (I couldn’t imagine wearing another color right now) Lane Bryant Anxiety before going into a restaurant wondering if they will put me somewhere I don’t fit Seat belt barely fitting Airplane seats and belts (knowing they are smaller on small planes) Bar stools Avoiding people from my past so they don’t see how big I am My boobs catching everything Thinking everyone who looks at me must be in a negative way Watching my life pass me by The list goes on and on

Why would you have to start the process over? You would still have all the information current so that shouldn't matter unless United Health doesn't accept the 3 month plan (which I guess could happen). It may be difficult to get it all done before year end. I start the 3 month plan tomorrow so it will be mid December before I can even apply to insurance and who knows how long it will take to get approved then schedule surgery. Good luck to you as well

I don't think it was a bomb. I think both McCain and Obama are media zombies by now and they give so many speeches and don't have time to think about all the ways anything they say can and will be spun by the other side. The audience may have taken the comment one way but I don't think he intended for that to happen (he had nothing to gain by saying it about her as it would just create the attention for her he doesn't need). She is getting tons of sympathy votes from women who think the big boys are being mean. I'd like to see her step up her game and play from the guys tees and win for that reason and not why she is winning now.

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?

Hey guys don't you see it, why would Republicans discuss the issues they don't have to? They are pulling ahead with smear tactics and negative campaigning. The McCain manager was right in saying "The election isn't about issues". I personally find that sad (but true). Your average swing voter probably doesn't get caught up in issues but rather popularity. As annoying as it may be the Republicans keeping Palin in a bubble is working for them so they are going to keep it up as long as possible. Ted Koppel was on NPR yesterday and I think made a good point in saying that Charlie Gibson will not be able to win with this interview. If he asks tough questions then the spin goes back to the "mean sexist media" and if he is soft on her she comes off unharmed and still popular and he will get slack for being soft. I think next week the McCain camp might bust out an "I know you are but what am I" or an "I'm rubber your glue...":tt2:

Does your current Aetna plan require the 3 or 6 month diet? I totally see trying to get it over with before the end of the year but changing between Aetna & United Health doesn't mean the coverage will change. It really all depends on what your employer purchases. I live in Louisville and my employer offers both Aetna & United Health to us and they are they exact same plan since my employer is self insured. The more I read on this site the more I learn its not the insurance company but your employer. I went to the Norton meeting a few weeks ago and I found it very informative. Dr. Geller presented and he was great. I am actually going with St. Mary's & Elizabeth and have been to both hospital's meetings. I have my first Dr. visit tomorrow so I guess that will get the whole process started but it could still take months since I too have Aetna and they require either a 3 or 6 month diet first (gotta love the insurance hoops) Good luck to you:thumbup:
  20. I am a chatty girl, but I am keeping this to myself. I am in process of getting approval and don't want to really say much about the process until I know when it is happening. Even once I have a date I'll probably stay mum until I am comfortable telling people other than my close friends and family The great thing about this website is there are tons of people to chat about the process with

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?

Agreed...go down your youtube search 6 or 7 posts and you get a whole other spin. I'm actually a Bill Maher fan (I know your're shocked ) and I watch his HBO show (2 shows so far this season) I don't recall him saying anything to that extent unless it was total sarcastic humor. I enjoy watching him b/c I share his political views but also he is actually well informed, isn't afraid to call BS on his own party, and he's funny. Granted I realize watching his show would be about as painful for someone on the right as watching Rush would be for me but I think he is a hoot. ......okay bring on the Maher smear:laugh:

OMG JWRN you'll fall for anything. Just curious what is your intention with posting this? Do you actually believe it? Do you think this adds substance to this discussion? Posting something as silly as this just knocks your credibility down a few notches.

    Out-of-Pocket Expense...

Wow you are very fortunate to have such great insurance. I work for a Fortune 250 company and have what many would consider "good insurance" but my surgery is going to cost about $6k after insurance (assuming they approve me). Even if I have to pay the whole thing out of pocket I will as you can't place a price on health and happiness. Best of luck to you!!

I know we (myself included) are giving you a lot of slack for your postings. If you don't agree with Obama's politics and prefer the other side then more power to you as that is one of the beauties of being an American. Politically related views should be the basis for picking one candidate over the other and not their birth name, race, countries they've visted, color of their shirt, etc. Have you ever traveled outside the United States (Europe, Africa, Asia)?
