  3. Thank you for the topic, I am working on making the transition into maintenance now… im 7 months in tomorrow- and am slowly losing. I am still working out how to make the transition, and think i will be one that ALWAYS needs to track, as my history involves many years of yo-yoing as well. Daily weighing is my normal. I dont obsess, but it keeps me aware. I will be watching this thread for good ideas- i was self pay in Mexico, so I can use all the help i can get.

    Ozempic Face

So many layers to unpack… let me first say that if it is your desire to come off some/all medications you need a doctor that will help you achieve that goal safely, if it is possible. Some truly may be life saving and necessary. You need to address it with every doctor that treats you and/or find one that will listen and guide you based on your needs and the facts. Her appearance could very well be something else- If she’d proven competent in other situations, Im not sure the weight loss alone would be a reason to leave. There are plenty of unhealthy, thin/overweight (insert unhealthy practice here, like smoking) doctors too. Keep in mind all doctors “practice medicine”. Practice being the key word.
  5. I was a self pay in Mexico, and while the team gave me calorie goals and suggested foods, I dont have a strong idea how I am going to continue on this weight loss journey without a nutrional team. I have contact my insurance and am getting a referral for local nutrionist for more personal support, but does anyone have a good book recommendation for moving to stage 4? I do have a good vitamin regime and can leverage the doctors in Mexico, but would like something more local as time goes on. I’m still in purée stage, so thought planning ahead might be a good idea. Let me know, thanks for reading.

    Olive Oil and butter

Still use olive oil to roast veg, little butter on occasion on veg, or when frying an egg (rare). Have you tried ghee? In a previous diet where i was told to cut dairy, i remember enjoying ghee— it is expensive though.

  8. Thank you for that timely PSA. I recently had similar experience- like omg, I am hungry for X and im gonna enjoy this dinner. Eating it quickly— then, oh no, what have i done feeling descends… so not fun throwing that back up. SLOW and well chewed … no joke. Glad to have this tool to remind me to slow down and watch what im doing.
  9. Anyone have a good probiotic recommendation? Ive never really taken one, and at my 6 month check up yesterday, the bariatrician recommended i add one. Thanks in advance!

Less then 30 lbs to go...

First off 12 lbs in two months is pretty dang good! Be sure to celebrate that forward progress. That being said, I can relate. Mine has slowed as well- my Bariatrician and I discussed this yesterday- your body is adjusting to change and is finally on to the game. As that happens, we need to build muscle to up our metabolism. It’s always harder to lose as you get closer to goal it seems, which sucks! Slow and steady wins the race though, keep at it!

    6 months in…

Thank you— I feel great! ( and the glow is strategically placed highlighter— I actually started wearing a little make up now…) Thanks for your kind words about the hair loss- I can assure you it is all smoke and mirrors—- wearing it wild helps distract the loss of volume, for sure. It will grow out, but I may be going for the big chop if I dont see it slow anytime soon. But, Ive been slowing letting the grey come in, so that will just help move that process along— so there is a silver lining (ha, pun intended) I guess. Biggest thing for me— My joints dont ache, my arms dont fall asleep at night, my plantar fasciitis finally healed—my back hurts less, i dont grind my teeth at night, etc, etc. I am no longer pre-diabetic and can breathe again! Wins all around. Legit question though— how does one face the fear of sliding/going back to unhealthy weight? I plan to make this a full time lifestyle adjustment- not just another yo-yo as in the past. Im really afraid this could be temporary— so working with therapist/team to make sure i keep up these good new habits— but tell me Im not alone in feeling nervous about it- and how to handle the (eventual) moving to “maintenance” stage… tips and advice appreciated.
  14. Any experience or reviews on either Dr Mayortena or Dr Pablo Fok Russell appreciated— I have narrowed it down to these two doctors in tJ and would love any feedback. Looking at gastric sleeve- BMI 37. Thank you!
  15. Month 6 weight— 129.8 Just hit six month, feeling really good, and at goal!
  16. Congratulations and bravo!! You have worked so hard for this, and I applaud you!!
  17. I sell a lot on Mercari, PoshMark and sometimes EBay- and local consignment stores and sales… no Thred up experience here- i like the instant gratification of selling my own directly. Good luck!
  18. glad you are talking to doctors! Are you able to get in your vitamins and proteins? B12 shots have really proven to help energy as well. I hope that you are feeling better soon.
  19. I went to Europe (from the states) for a month at my month 4 mark— you should be great at 3 months- be sure to start walking so you are physically fit as well. Be sure to have a plan for vitamins early on as well. Get out and enjoy your life!
  20. I flew to Mexico Thursday, and had surgery Friday. Sunday afternoon i was on a cross country flight home. I only carried a carryon bag that i tucked under my seat, and was able to carry the little bit i needed. No real pain flying that soon, more fatigue and nausea— made the entire flight and threw up before I got in the car to drive home. (Which I also drove myself home). But keep in mind, i have a high pain tolerance. At home for the first few weeks- I really didnt pick up too much more than a case of sodas, just made my son move big things. I have flown several time in the past 5 months, and no trouble at all. My advice- if there is something big/heavier you want to take back home after recovery- mail it to yourself. Just have an essentials bag to fly with, you will be happier- and with baggage costs, it may be cheaper anyway.
  21. Print out a copy of this explanation and make sure you complain to the program director— this is unacceptable. You totally dodged a bullet and I am glad your primary gave you the referral and support you needed.

    I made it to....

Congratulations! you look beautiful and happy!
  23. I didnt have room for anything else but protein at the soft food point, but i just ate tuna/tiny bit of mayo/chopped pickles— making sure they were super chopped. Later you could try cucumber slices as a “chip” - and like you said leafy green wrap might be a good solution when you are ready for that.
