  1. I'm so freakin' hungry! I was banded on the 6th and didn't crave or even want any food until last Friday. All this week I've been so hungry, the protein shakes just weren't cutting it so I added in some soft foods even though I'm supposed to be on just liquids. I'm supposed to go to 1-2oz of mushies starting Monday every 3-4hrs for two weeks and it's just not enough. I don't know what to do. If it wasn't for the port area still being a little sore when I cough or sneeze I would think I'm not even banded. I do get full when I eat about a half a cup but it only lasts about a half hour before I feel hungry again. I'm frusturated and don't know what to do!!!
  2. I had my band put in on 7/6 at 10 am! Everything went very smoothly. When I first woke up, I remember telling someone that it felt like an elephant was standing on my chest and I couldn't breath, they just told me to take deep breaths and within a few minutes I was fine. It felt like in no time at all I was back in my room snoozing. My fiance was great, kept me company the entire time but knew when to be quiet too so I could sleep.:frown: My nurse was great, made me walk up and down the hall 2x in between naps. They discharged me at 7pm and I actually felt great, I came home and cleaned the kitchen, lol. 2nd day was the worst for me. I just couldn't get comfortable. The port area was really hurting and the gas was bad. And then embarassingly, everytime I tried to relieve gas I would mess myself at the same time:scared2:! I guess it was all that liquid from the pre-op diet. Still happens to this day, so I have learned very quickly to go to the bathroom if I need to get rid of any gas. 3rd and 4th day was good, a little uncomfortable but not too bad. 5th day, I actually got really hungry today but I had about 4-6oz of carnation instant breakfast and that helped. The biggest thing now besides hearing all the rumblind and tumbling going on in my belly is I cannot burp and it's driving me nuts. It's like it come almost all the way up but no matter what I do I can't get it out. I'm off of the pain meds which I'm really glad of, and I actually went shopping at Walmart and Target today as well as put in 2 hours at work. Good luck to all of you!:tongue_smilie:
  3. Hi Everyone! As of 7/6/09 I am a banded woman!!! I was at the hospital for 8 for a 10:10am surgery. I first got asked the normal bunch of questions, name, what was I there for, when did I last eat, etc. I stayed in holding for about an hour. Then they brought me into the surgical holding room and asked me all the same questions all over and started my IV. The anesthiologist came in, and he was great, asked me if I had any questions, and of course I replied "No chance of me waking up right?" he of course responded no. Then he gave me some sort of cocktail to make me relax, it was wonderful! They then wheeled me into the operating room and had me scoot over onto the operating table. I remember the put my feet right up against some foot board and the strapped my legs down. They put my arms out to the side and the next thing I remember was them calling my name and asking if I was in any pain, which I wasn't. It seemed within minutes of me waking up we were on our way upstairs and they grabbed my fiance on our way. My nurse, Jamie was awesome! She made me get up and walk twice because she had to but was really good about letting me sleep. I was just so tired! I got some antibiotics through the IV but they disconnected it pretty quickly. I took one pain pill and I was discharged at 7pm. I had the most annoying roommate in the world!!! Over all it wasn't a bad experience at all. Day 2 was a little tougher! When I first got up in the am, I got very nasueaous and dizzy. I managed to get a pain pill down and laid down on the couch and slept for a few hours. Getting up with out using your stomach, is a challenge! I think I took two pain pills all day and then one before bed. Using the stomach this morning was better. I managed to take a shower and have just been kinda resting all day. I still have a lot of gas in me, it's not painful just uncomfortable and I just can't seem to get it out of me. But overall I'm good, no regrets. I'm not hungry at all and I've just been sipping on juice and water for the past few days. good luck!:smile2:
  4. I'm being banded on Monday!! 7/6/09!!! Totally psyched and also nervous as can be lol!! I've been on the pre-op protein shake diet for two weeks and I am craving chinese food so bad. Luckily I'm too lazy to go get it, so I can't mess up. I'll let you all know how I do!

    Any good protein shakes??

I am on unjury protein shakes, I got the chocolate and vanilla and they aren't bad. My friend says they taste kinda like a marshmallow. You have to order them online, but didn't find the price to be all that bad. :smile2:

    July Jewels 2009

I got my date!!! July 6, super freakin' excited!!!
  7. I'm actually all done with everything too and am now just waiting for the office to submit everthing for pre-approval! I'm hoping everything goes quickly. This has been a long process and I'm anxios to have the surgery done with! Good luck.
  8. So I've been to the dietician, the seminar, and I met with the surgeon today. He answered a lot of questions that I had. I still feel confident in getting this done even with the risks associated with it. Now all's I have left is to go to 2 support group meetings and a psych consult. I will have an ultrasound, ekg and a chest x-ray next week. I'm really hoping that the psych will make an appt with me quick. I can't help but wonder how much longer until surgery....it's driving me nuts not knowing. The surgeon said today that some people can go into surgery very quickly where others can take a long time. AGGG....so aggravating. I hate suspense! Overall though, the process hasn't been that bad and I'm still glad I'm going to have this done.
  9. I won't miss: growing out of all the clothes I just bought sweating excessively swollen feet my back hurting with the least amount of physical activity shopping in lane bryant my bf making little comments even though I know he doesn't mean anything. my daughter making comments like "how come your belly's so big?" half rolling out and into bed not being able to play with my kids cause I tire to easily sitting in front of the tv because i'm too tired to do anything else having my co-workers see me fail at every diet I try The list could go on and on and on.....
  10. Hey Everyone! Can I just tell you all that I cannot wait to get a date for my lapband sugery. My feet are swollen like balloons and hurt so bad. And I've noticed since I've put on more weight that if I walk even 1/4 of a mile my back kills me right where it connects to my butt, same when i fold laundry or do any cleaning. I hate it, I just want to cry it hurts so bad. I can't wait to have my friggin appts. so i can get banded. Thanks for listening and reading.

    Swollen feet!!!

Thanks for your input. I do have an appt. with my PCP next week, so I will ask for something then. Actually, my blood pressure is fine, that's the weird thing. Again thanks.

    Nov 10 surgery

I can't wait till I officially have my surgery date. I am praying that this doesn't drag on.
  15. I actually just got off the phone with the nutritionist and she made an appt. with me. Now all's I need is the psych eval and to go to two support meetings.
  16. I am so excited, I have my consultation with Dr. Carroll on 10.8.08. I already went to the seminar back on 8.13.08. So now I can check two things off of my to do list. Now I am just wondering if the dietician and the psych will contact me themselves to make appts. or if I am supposed to contact them. I guess I should call the office and ask them. I'm on my way, I hope this isn't a long drawn out process to get banded.:tt2:

    I got my first date

    I got my first date

Congrats!!! I'm not that far from you, in Biddeford. I'm going to same surgeon and was at the same seminar :-) ! That's great you have an appt. already. I went in Monday to get lab work done. Because I'm a former smoker, they had me get labs done to make sure I really did quit. I should have those results tomorrow or Friday and then I'll be able to move on. When's your appt. for the dietician. We should keep in touch since we're pretty much on the same road together. My e-mail is THunt9906@hotmail.com if you'd rather e-mail. I'm glad someone else here in Maine is going to be going through everything I will be and will know what I'm talking about.
  19. Hi Everyone! So I'm a newbie. I've been thinking about getting this procedure done since last year but was never really serious until now. I was diagnosed with Non-alcholic fatty liver disease last year and had a doctor tell me I would die if I didn't lose the weight. Nice, right? So needless to say I have switched doctors, and have tried I think every diet under the sun. I weigh 238 right now, which 38 of that has been gained in the past 3 months. How, who knows. I'm really inspired by all of you out there. I've been reading for a couple weeks now and decided that it was time to join and officially meet you all. I went to the seminar back on the 13th, and went in and had my lab work done on the 25th. I'm just waiting on my nicotine test to come back which that have to send out of state. I really think the band is the right choice for me. I hope all goes well. Good luck and congrats to all of you out there! Tomina:rolleyes2:

    Newbie here :-)

I actually haven't been to a GI. It was my PCP who actually recommended the lap band. I know my results for my liver were high, but I'm not to the point you are. Good luck with everything. I hope it all works out.
