I have had a weight problem for several years but after my second child was born I found it very hard to lose weight.  Day after day spent at the gym didn't put a dent on the scale and dieting only led to bing eating when no one was around to witness.  I researched lap band for about a year before making my decision to have the surgery.  After denial from my husbands insurance company I decided that the self pay method was what I was going to have to do and therefore I took a look into the Mexico doctors. I had heard about Dr. Pedro Kuri through this web site and several other doctors as well.  I decided on Dr Krui because of the kind things that his past patients had said about him.  It also helped that he is a top ranked lap band doctor with state of the art facilities.  This put my mind at ease and I called and booked my operation for Dec 5th 2008.  I continued to read the lap band web site and managed to get into contact with a gentleman that was also having surgery the same day as me and we hit it off right away.  As it turns out he was in the van at the airport the picks up all of Dr. Kuri's patients. the day of surgery is really a blur but what I can tell you is that I was treated with the great respect by the doctors and nurses at the hospital.  Every thing went very smoothly.  I met and keep in touch with the other two patients that had surgery the same day as me.  We each have our own stories to tell about our journeys with the band.  I have had no complications with my band and have managed to lose weight. I have no regrets and believe that it was the best decision that I have ever made for me!  I like that the weight is coming off slowly and if I should decide to tell someone that I had the surgery I can but if not then I just take the compliments graciously.
