I cannot wait for all of us to be in bandland!! I am so excited but, I have to be honest--my nerves are going EVERYWHERE!! I am soooo scared to be put to sleep lol! Which I know that is a very common fear! I am going to be screaming for that calming medicine in my IV as soon as I get there lol!! Goodluck yall!!

Congrats on your Feb 3rd band date!!! I do not have to do a pre diet! I just have to do low fat and nothing after midnight on the night before surgery!! Are you starting to get nervous becaue I am!! lol!!

alright I am scheduled for surgery Feb 3 and I am real nervous! lol! I do not care what we call ourselves-- I am JUST so glad to be getting band lol!!

Everytime I click on chatroom it tells me "this chat room uses blah blah blah" and tells me I have to download Java.. I have like 90 times!! ALL I WANT TO DO IS CHAT WITH MY FRIIIIIIIENDS!!!!!!!!

I cannot even get into the chatroom.... any suggestions?!?

I am SO surprised to see so many of us from West Monroe!!!! I am in the begining stages of LapBand and I started seeing Rita at Calhoun Medical--she works hand in hand with Dr. Cribbens!!! Well my paper work was messed up when it was sent from Calhoun to Dr. Cribbens--that has now been 6 weeks!!! I am TIRED of waiting!!! I was wondering if any of yall had a better suggestion!! I would much rather have someone more local!! I work for Chase Bank and have BCBS of NY!! I plan on calling my insurance company tomorrow so they can give me a list of doctors in the surrounding area that they do cover in network!! I am SO glad I found this group!!! Good luck yall!!

Hey yall!! This is my first post on here!! I have sat here tonight for about 3 hours and read all yalls post and all I have to say is WOW!!! Yall are such a strong support group for each other. It looks like each of yall have taken the role as a supporter. Each of yall have had yalls tough times but, when yall do--there is someone to help yall out!! I found this thread because I am from Louisiana and I am trying to get my Insurance to go through for lapband. My general doctor works hand in hand with several lap band doctors and her first doctor she was going to send me was Dr. Cribbens in Texas. They just seem to be dragging their feet so she is thinking about sending me to either Dr. Hekier or Dr. Keilin. She has already spoken to them and they have promised her that they will get on the ball and get all my insurance stuff sent in veru quickly. My insurance is through Blue Cross Blue Shield but, I believe it is out of NY because I work for JPMorgan Chase. I hope everything goes smoothly! My main question for yall-- I have read where yall talk about these meetings that yall attend. Are they mandatory or just very helpful? If they are just very helpful, do yall think I will suffer from not being be able to attend those since I live so far away?? I appreciate any of yalls help/advice!!! I really enjoyed reading all of yalls success stories and also readings yalls hard times-- I really think it has helped me realize some of the things I HOPEFULLY will get to face one day very soon. I know the chances are SOOO slim... but thought I would ask if anyone on here works for Chase Bank??? That is who my insurance is through and I just wish I knew someone who had gotten it done with Chase Insurance! I am worried about being too young (21) and my BMI being right at 40... Guess you can just say I want this soooo bad and I am so scared I will be denied...

I will have to look at my insurance card... I know it is through Blue Cross Blue Shield but, United Healthcare sounds familar...maybe it is the same...Thanks so much for yalls replies!!!

I am a teller at Chase Bank in Louisiana! My insurance through Chase is Blue Cross Blue Shield Empire. I called the insurance company and they told me that my BMI had to be 40 or more and that my doctor had to mail in a predetermination letter. They were very friendly but did not really tell me too much more! I went to the dr the other day and I wish I would have called my insurance before hand to see if this doctor was considered in network or not. My co-pay was accepted of $20.00 so I believe that means it was in network...not real sure! I guess I kind of jumped the gun and probably should have dealt more with the insurance company... I want to call them tomorrow but, I am afraid I will get bad news haha! I know dumb--right!? I am going to have to find out soon or later! Thanks for your reply!

Okay so I have been searching through this site for weeks and decided to go ahead and make an appt. Well, I went today for my appointment and it was SO exciting!!! I called my insurance company before going and they said they would cover my surgery as long as I had a BMI of 40 or more and that my dr sent in a predetermination letter! So my doctor did all that today! My only concern is now is that I am SO excited about all this...what if I do not get approved?!?! I know many of yall have faced this and have been denied! My insurance in Blue Cross Blue Shield Empire! If I am denied, I will definetly fight for it! I just wanted to VENT!!!
