I'm one day home from the hospital and on liquid Lortab. I hate it ! It keeps me up at night, and Im used to a painkiller that can help me sleep. Anyone have any suggestions for what to ask for a prescription for? Lortab is great for during the day, but I need something that is going to put me OUT for nighttime or Im never gonna heal because I wont sleep. Suggestions? Thanks, Katie

Thanks, Thinoneday. This is my second surgery. Im revised from a lapband. After my lapband surgery, they gave me something great (I thought it was liquid vicodin) and I was able to sleep well. This stuff is wimpy! -
Please explain what your "sweet spot" feels like..
Katie Ester replied to MrsBerggren's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here's what it feels like to me: (Im 6 months post-op with 6cc's in a 10cc band) When Im out with friends for dinner, I order a chopped barbeque chicken salad, the lunch portion. I eat about 1/3 of the lunch portion--maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of a cup and am totally stuffed. About 3 hours later, when we stop in the mall for frozen yogurt, I get a kiddie size cup of non-fat yogurt, have a half a dozen bites and throw the rest out. It feels like food no longer controls me. I eat when Im hungry. I stop when Im not. I dont feel compelled to BINGE. (Binge eating was a huge issue for me) I feel...dare I say it, NORMAL. -
Hi all, Im 6 weeks post op. I had my first fill 3 days ago. Tonight, I ate a little bit of chili and it came with a steamed pita. I had about two bites of the pita and got stuck. It took forever to come up. Finally did and I thought that was that. Unfortunately, I tried a little tiny bit of chili after about 30 minutes. Came right back up. Waited a half hour. Tried again. Came back up after much agonizing pain. Now, a small sip of Water hurts even. Is something still stuck? Am I swollen from the three consecutive PBs? This afternoon, I had a small chicken greek salad with no problem at all. I dont think this is from the fill. I think its from the pita getting stuck. Please advise! What do I do now? Im scared to try anything. Ill go to bed hungry, thats not an issue. But, what do you think is going on?? Thanks in advance for all your suggestions and knowledge Katie

Hi everyone looking for others with type 2 diabetes insulin dependant...
Katie Ester replied to Annie71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, Im a type II diabetic. I was insulin dependent before surgery. I took 10 units of Novolog after each meal and 45 units of Lantus at night. On my pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) I went down to half of that. At the hospital post-surgery, my numbers were low, so they didnt give me any insulin for 2 days. Post op, at home, I was checking my sugars 4 or 5 times a day and they were so low I couldnt believe it. Im now not even a month-post op (have lost 20lbs from both pre-op and post op diets) and I am off ALL INSULIN! Im so excited. Im now taking Januvia (a once a day pill) and my numbers have been steady except for the once in a while deviation from my diet. My goal is to be off all medications and control it with diet/exercise only. Good luck to you! Katie -
Am I right to be angry and frustrated?
Katie Ester replied to A New Woman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, I could have written that post myself. With exactly the same numbers, except my band-date was 3/23/09. 12lbs preop. 7lbs post-op. Struggling and cant have my first fill until 5/11, as my surgeon requires a 6 week wait before the first fill.I can eat basically anything, but do have occasional problems with some foods getting stuck. Its been really tough. The first couple weeks were great because my stomach was still swollen and I could only eat small amounts and I was full. Here's what keeps me going: that sensation of feeling full will come back. It might be 1 fill, or 3 fills or 6. It might be 3 weeks or 3 months. But, Im going to be able to eat half a hamburger patty with tomato, onion and lettuce and be FULL. Im going to be able to put down my fork after eating most of a chicken breast and 4 forkfulls of baked Beans and a taste of coleslaw at a BBQ. Im not going to be the girl who needs to have seconds and thirds at every meal. We will both get there...maybe not in time for your 25th wedding anniversary...but I cant wait to hear how thrilled you are on your 26th! Much luck to you, Katie
