My story so far....
I have always been overweight. When I was growing up my mom would give my sister and I the same lunch and I would gain weight and she wouldn't. IT wasn't that I wasn't active, I ran around the neighborhood and to this day camping and hiking are some of my favorite activities. I have tried multiple times and ways to lose weight over the years. Nothing has worked. I tried diet and exercise but once I hit a certain point I stop losing weight and never more than 10 or 20 pounds. I started considering bariatric surgery in college. My girlfriend at the time (now wife) didn't see the point and thought I was looking for the easy way out. I also had a job change and wasn't able to go forward. Over time I have talked about surgery with my wife. I have a number of people who have had bariatric surgery in my life and so my wife's opinion of surgery has changed. She has been with me from the beginning of the process this time, starting with the info session. I went through the program for my surgeon and in the process was diagnosed with sleep apnea. They wouldn't sign off on surgery till I had been on a cpap 2 weeks. The problem was that at the time there was a global recall on a certain brand of cpap and they were handing out machines based on severity, my apnea is not that bad. I waited from November 2021 till May 2022 and finally got a cpap. Now my problem was that all my clearances had lapsed. I started the program over and finally was cleared and had surgery in January 2023.
